Celsius has come to all the supermarkets and gas stations in Finland. Pricepoint is the premium energydrink together with Battery (Finnish brand by Sinebrykoff) at 2,5-3 €. Finland has had 10-15 different energy drink brands since the 90's. Local brands like ED, Battery, Teho, Nocco and Euroshopper dominate the market, but I've seen the urban women go for these cans. Red Bull and Monster also have their shelf space.
Still love the product, but have noticed the price drops as management said. Hope they can get organized with Pepsi, lots of opportunity internationally as well.
Ugly quarter. Not scaring me off as a shareholder. I still feel firmly that Celsius has a good product and will grow into the future. I believe these to be near-term growing pains!

Lots of folks around me drink it as well I will echo that sentiment also other anecdotal evidence I've seen and to Brian's point about moat being under pressure is I've see celcius cans at a deeep discount 1.69 all over the supermarket and on end caps at Food Lion and the Pharmacy.

@@stoffelbrian My guess is that the margin to other channels (costco, etc.) is lower than product sold to Pepsi. As such, if Celsius are selling less to pepsi, the average margin declines. That is my concern. How does the price/margin sold to pepsi compare to other channels? Pepsi isn't stupid. If they see that costco is getting a better deal, they will renegotiate their price as well further squeezing margins.
All the nurses at the hospital I work at drink Celsius. So I hope the brand grows in the future but I am glad I did not buy this stock when it dropped . Also a lot of competition from Monster etc…
Interesting, all the nurses I see are drinking Alani. The numbers we see are suggesting the brand loyalty isn't there and the competition is increasing for CELH.
My guess is that the discount is due to the "over sell" to Pepsi and to not "loose" to much sales. I think it will level out at the end of the year and Celsius will grow 20-30% year over year over the 3-5 next years

It’s a very difficult market internationally the way Celsius is priced- it cannot be sold in any developing countries- no one can afford it - so they need to bring down the costs, everyday I see new brand of energy drinks, it’s a trend which is very difficult to catch on. So, definitely Celh has no moat. 100%

Saturated retail market that is declining for every sports drinks franchise. Red Bull has dominated and will continue to do so CELH isn’t in F1 doesn’t own any other businesses. It’s rare to find their drinks in the UK and Europe. Terrible stock with dodgy accounting.

Problem is that doesn't explain the gross margin compression. They sold that inventory to Pepsi over a year ago.

industry competition is getting stronger. It's still a hold for me but not a great quarter at all. Something to continue to watch.
