- With the story entering it's final chapters, evidence in the manga continues to build up to Furudate having one more arc for us to experience. So let's discuss what I believe will be Japan's National Team for the Olympics and how this could be the strongest team we'll ever see.

Hinata going for opp hitter would be Like a referrence to Japan's National star Player Yuji Nishida, a small opposite spiker with fast and huge hops who gave brazil a hard time.
If you've seen the last chapters hinata deserves a spot on the national team for sure , and kageyama too because he's the best japanese setter close with Miya

With the way the story is written, it really doesn't seem like it will go beyond this match.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see an Olympics arc and I feel lost even thinking about the story ending but I don't think there will be another arc.
Couple of reasons I think this way:
1. This story is about Hinata, and winning the match basically completes his arc. The story is about how a kid is able to compete against the best of the best through passion and dedication. The players on the otherside of the court represent everything Hinata did not have. Ushijima represented those who were gifted with the perfect physic. Tobio represented those gifted with everything and hailed as prodigies. The little giant represented instinct and everything Hinata aspired to become. By defeating this team, Hinata proved that he was able to compete and defeat the best through passion and dedication to volleyball. It's very unlikely that Furudate would write all these figures onto the same team if he wanted to write anymore arcs after this match.
2. The biggest appeal to Furudate's writing style is his ability to have readers connect with players on both sides of the court. In every game Karasuno played, Furudate was able to bring out the passion and appeal of every character on the court. One of the reasons this final match is working so well is that Furudate did not introduce too many characters so he was still able to write very deep arcs for each player to give his audience that sense of connection to both teams. However, if we go to an Olympics arc, there will be too many new teams and faces for Furudate to write with his writing style to portray within a single arc.
3. This final match has basically all the best characters in it. From Sakusa, Bokuto, Hinata, Tobio, Ushijima, Miya etc. And the players that we love that are not in the match like The Omega Grand King and The Guardian Deity won't be playing anymore. If Furudate is planning to write anymore, he has effectively already written himself into a corner in terms of excitement. (and based on how well thought out and amazing his writing has been so far, I am very confident that he did not make such a rudimentary mistake - from foreshadowing the Brazil arc within the first scenes in the manga, to planting the seed of the super quick between Hinata and Miya in the high school matches, this author is a god!)

Could you imagine what a double setter formation could look like for the team you predicted. It would be crazy.
They would run 4-2 and the setter would be swapping for the libero i think
Edit:nvm the setter will always be on but if they have 2 setters on a ws will have to go off
@@ShoJubuz My high school team runs a 6-2 with me and another setter. The setter just takes the place of the opposite so whichever setter is backrow sets and the front row hits. At a higher level they would probably swap out the setters for opposites when they get to front row. I really like the 6-2 because i get to hit and i have 3 front row options at all time when i set.
i will take anything over hearing this manga finished.

I think oikawa will be the final boss. Just think bout oikawa never made it to nationals in high school because of shiratorizawa and the karasuno so having him be the final boss so having oikawa be the final boss would make sense considering that the three player that contributed the most to oikawa's losses will all be their in the finals

Thanks for including Rintaro. Besides Atsumu, he was the scariest player on Inarizaki. Karasuno was simply unable to block him and he was a proficient scorer too.

ushijima is the definition of the opposite, there is no way for him to stay in the bank.
kageyama is definitely a monster, but I think I would take atsumu as the starter setter since he’s more versatile and can have great chemistry with all the players.

Unknown Person yes i’ve read the manga. I know that kageyama is better than atsumu right now, but I don’t think he’s better all around like in other aspects like serving, receiving, etc. that’s why i said he’s more versatile.

I would switch Hinata to the outside Hitter Position and kick Hoshioumi out of the main roster. As an opposite I would pick Ushijima. The reason is that Hinata fits better as an outside and Ushijima is the ideal opposite.
The way the manga presents Hinata as an opposite that receives is quite weird. In the real world you create the opposite position to get the player away from his receiving responsibilities. It's nice that Hinata can receive well but he really shouldn't as an opposite. So it's better to get him as an outside where his utility shines.
It could be that after the BJ vs. SA match, his skills get acknowledged and he becomes part of the main roster of the BJ and then switches positions.
Teams without a cannon always put a versatile player in opposite, one who can not only receive but set when need be. I do agree that at nationals it makes sense to start Ushijima for the balance of the team and I mean hes been the national bench mark since super early in the series. But acting like every team to ever exist always plays an opposite like Ushiwaka is simply not true.

Yes, i agree. putting ushijima at OP position will not only make the roster taller, but it will add a big firepower for the team. They already have hinata as an all round player that can do almost everythin so they don't need hoshiumi who has a similiar role
@@ImAviex Thing is in irl volleyball, if the setter gets first touch, almost always the libero sets it. The right side barely ever sets, and that's taken from me, a lefty starting right side that plays for club and school
i highly disagree with your opinion. in terms of pure skill, hinata holds no candles to hoshiumi. from what i've seen in the manga, hoshiumi is definitely probably the most skilled hitter. I've never seen anyone with so much skill and technique. If you've read the latest chpter, he was aiming for a block out on hinata, but hinata moved his hands, and at that moment he changed it from a block out to a spike. And somewhere a couple chapters earlier he spike the ball through the seams of a block but this is my opinion
How atsumu changes his serves is such a big character development with the four steps he sometimes changes it to a spike serve instead of a float
I wish they could do a movie of them playing in the finals at the Olympics. It would be a nice way to wrap up the story with them winning a gold medal
I liked your reasoning behind this team.
My take would be along the concept of Japan being known as the "MONSTER GENERATION", a weird and excentric team not abiding by the rules of common sense. Deep in my heart, I want Japan to take the "karasuno" approach on voleyball searching for new ways to play, nodding to a maybe late Ukai grandpa philosophy.
This is why I wouldn't include Meian and Hirugami.
The starting lineup would be:
-Kageyama (S)
-Miya(S)
-Hinata(MB)
-Bokuto(WS)
-Ushijima(WS)
-Hoshiumi(OH)
-Komori(L)

Ushiwaka was right when he told him it was a mistake to join a weak team in highschool. he always flew under the radar and couldnt make a name for himself national wise. But thats also the reason why i think he will make a comeback at the olympics and be the second setter for japan. Plus we need to see a kageyama oikawa reunion

Komoris team is so strong defensively, seeing all 3 of them on a national team would be awesome. Well if we get the Olympics then i would love to see Japan vs England and Japan vs Argentina, as Kuroo went to England for volleyball and Oikawa went to Argentina. Bringing back Kuroo would be interesting as he was always kind of a dark horse and i think that'd be brought out well by a match vs all his former rivals. Oikawa would be cool to see as he is obviously the Great King as opposed to Kageyama's King status
Kuroo to England would be fascinating but I do only want those types of moves if they have an actual claim of birth from that country since that's a minimum requirement to represent another country.

Definitely lacks in blocking. Having an opposite who is quite tall and good at blocking is paramount since they match the opponent’s OH. When I played in HS, my brother helped a lot with solid blocking due to his insane vert.
Hoshiuumi and hinata are high jump bois and we have a good libero boi
The vertical jump is surely important in blocking, but for short people it's difficult to block at an high level, because the time you need to get on a spot when you are short is surely higher. Watch Nishida for example, he is improving his blocking skills but you can clearly see his difficulties on blocking spikers that are tall and spike at an higher spot than yours

I don't think Hinata will be a starter, since he's not a traditional Opposite, i think after this game we will get a time skip to the final stage of the v-league with the top 5 teams in the country playing the playoffs
I think opposite would be ushijima left hands are usually an opposite but hinata just does not have the power to be a starter

Well... they can always start with Hinata to throw the opponents off their game with his decoy and quick spike. And when it starts to loose its punch after a couple sets they put in Ushijima and his powerful left on a weakened team... the two complement each others very well :)
I just hope it's not a cliche where someone gets injured in the finals or something and they use hinata and he magically becomes the greatest player in japan
I think Hinata can still play the Outside hitter role, but then again he will be competing against Sakusa, Bokuto, Kiryu, Hoshiumi, it's hard to predict
I know it's a bit of a stretch but what if Heitor will change from outdoor to indoor volleyball and make the Brazil team and face Hinata in the finals?
I would love it honestly but if he goes to the Olympics, I'm leaning towards him doing it for outdoor since he's already playing it. Can see him and Carvalho as a pair in the competition.
That would be awesome. Imagine panels where they would meet after so long and then cheer each other's matches.

First i think it will end after this battle because Furodate said it`s the Final arc maybe we get one panel or even one site at the end.
If there is a Olympic team the team won`t be full of youths. Volleyball is a sport where excperiance is really important. U won`t see many Liberos that young also middleblocker are usually older. Atleast in an Olympic team. U see that even in that game now, we know none of the blockers and liberos.
Ushijima will play as an Opposite and not as a wingspiker. Opposite player need to be good in defence or left-handed to be really competive and he is the ultimate opposite player. It makes sence to play Hinata as an Opposite but he is still not on paar as Ushijima.
If there is a Olympic, Japan won`t win Gold. Furutade is the best, because he stays on the ground. Karasuno didn`t win the Nationals so I don`t think Japan will win Gold. Japan won olympic Gold one time that was 1972 that was also the last time the won a Medal.
Haikyu and Furudate are really good because it`s really realistic and not a fairytale.
I'm all about the realistic approach too... but it kinda seems unrealistic to kageyama and hinata to be in the roster of the japan team... well at least in hinata's case UNLESS he proves he is better than hoshiumi, bokuto, ushijima, sakusa, miya, etc, or at least has some value for the team. There was a recent collabboration with Japan team, where Hinata, Kageyama and Nishinoya were at a game with Yuji Nishida and Ishikawa Kaito, it was epic AF, but it all depends on Hinata's talent... well at least we have a year and a half (even 2 years and a half if Furudate adresses covid) of Hinata to prove himself as maybe the best player in the league along Kageyama.
Realistically speaking: I would say Ushijima, Kageyama are already on the team with all the veterans you can get.

I don't know who I wouldn't put as a starter but I think Hinata should be a starter: yes everyone is super well rounded bc they're at a pro level but hinata's well rounded-ness is literally insane at this point, his jump lets him block, his defense is impeccable and his attack is obviously aided by his speed and agility. He's become really good at thinking ahead, accounting for unexpected factors, and the fact that he originally wasn't as good as everyone (who've almost all had the same experience of always being treated as top players and playing accordingly) his differing experience gives him a new angle and perspective on things, on top of the fact that beach volleyball would aid this new perspective (bonus points for stamina)
I'm okay with the final arc as it is. Olympics should be it's own sequel series where the story takes its time to introduce a number of other amazing players from all over the world. For what's been built up until now, this final match between Hinata and Kageyama is the perfect climax for this story.
I like your picks and agree that plot may allow something like this to happen, but it wouldn't be feasible in my opinion to have to starting players at the wing positions be under 5'9 at the Olympics. Both Shoyo and the new little giant are comparable in ability at this point in the story and japan has been know to have a on average shorter team then the rest of the world, but height as shown plays a pivotal role as the skill lv rises. However, I will note that the average height is different for each playerfunction. Volleyball at the highest level is ideally suited for players of different heights. For men the range is between 183 cm to 218 cm with setters and liberos being the shortest respectively and wingspikers being the 2nd tallest position behind the Middle blocker. While both have amazing offensive capabilities and respectable defensive skills their blocking ability by far below average. I'd say story would allow for one to make the starting line up at least but not both.

I'm so ready for this, hoping we really do get to see this 🙏 Only problem I have with this, despite the entire manga showing that height does not determine how good you are, is that the starting line up is way too short/ attacking. Especially to start off a game, I would start someone else other than hinata for the sake of recieving
As much as I hate to say it, Hinata at best will be on bench. Of course he will get to play and be used as decoy but Ushijima is going to get more court time than Hinata. Also, Hyakuzawa might be the starting MB with Hirugami as well.

But you have to consider that Bokuto also changed his attitude after losing the finals at nationals. He decided to become a normal ace instead of an ace with cold streaks.
Even though the manga has ended and us manga readers know exactly who the team are and if there ever will be an Olympics arc. However, I hope and pray that the makers of the anime take inspiration from the manga to create the last and final Olympics arc.

Edit: Ushiwaka at least in HS was known as a slight slow starter I mean he always is a beast but when hes played a bunch of sets he gets even more revved up much like Hinata and Kageyama since they are all volleyball monsters. While Hoshiumi's technical ability in the air would be actually perfect for closing games or sets out. Plus Hoshiumi would always play with a chip on his shoulders for being benched while Hinata gets to start lol.

Oikawa did a crazy serve in season 2 and I think he did it around 4 times within these for times no one was able to react to it and he was still in high school so think if he mastered that served even improved on it then oikawa might just hold the title of having the best power serve in haikyuu like think about

I think Oikawa would make Japans Olympic team along with Iwa. Oikawa is a very good player, he is one of the best setters in the prefecture on top of that he has such a diverse skill set and came pull of almost anything you ask. On top of that his serve is absolutely amazing and has consistently scored many points in a row before the opposing team could ever pick up the ball. On top of his service aces he is an absolutely remarkable setter. He is so observant and soon after meeting a person he can tell what they need to succeed and be and play the best they can. He has the power to tell what will maximize a person's talent, skill, or even just raw power. At one point Kageyama say “Even someone who hates him or a very quirky player he can manage them all” (Kageyama episode- "still growing"). This is an amazing skill to have, if he can work with someone who is opposed to working with him and make it so there at their best in a game. That is real talent. He can even master a person who is erratic and unruly for example Mad dog, he can set a ball to him that he can hit ninety nine percent of the balls he sets to him despite his erratic playing style, unpredictable actions, and erratic patterns. As well as the fact they in know way get along. Yet he can still get the ball to him in a way that allows. He can, in a few minutes pick up on the personality of theses player and find what they need set wise of how they need to be talked to to get them at their best and after a few minutes he could do that with a group of people he has never met before. Some of witch had expressed dislike for him before and yet he could still work with them extremely well. If he can do that with a group of people he just met then imagine how well it would go if he worked with the same people for a long time. There is no limit to how hard he'll work on end to the effort he is willing to put in. He is good a carrying the team, he can keep them standing even if he himself is falling, he is really good at changing the mood and encouraging people witch is necessary if you want to have a functional team.
I think that´s... almost perfect. Almost because Volleyball is a sport about power, a sport where tall people reign. So, I don´t think that putting two short players in the team is the best. In my opinion, I think Ushiwaka should go there instead of Hoshiumi, because I think Hinata is a more all-around player, and with a cannon like Ushijima, the team would have a perfect synergy.

Ok I have a few thoughts on this, this is what I'd have as a starting lineup:
S - Kageyama
OH1 - Kiyoomi
OH2 - Bokuto
OPP - Ushijima
MB1 - Meian
MB2 - Hirugami
L - Hinata
and the bench would have:
S - Atsumu
Wings - Hoshiumi, Kiryu, Aran
MBs - Hyakuzawa, Rintaro
L - Komori
I think that from an international standpoint, height is a must-have, which is where my main shuffling comes into play. In my mind, the only possible three starting pin hitters are Kiyoomi, Bokuto and Ushijima and Kiyoomi. Post-time skip they are the only three pins we see play out of the top 5 hitters in HS, and all three are slotted into their natural positions. Kiyoomi is a phenomenal serve receive player, and Bokuto can bring the power with the best of them, creating a well-rounded tandem from the outside. I would choose Bokuto over Hoshiumi because Hoshiumi is most valuable as a versatile player, and Kiyoomi already fills that role. Therefore we can add a bit more offense from the left with Bokuto, as well as more height.
Ushijima is undoubtedly the best oppo we see, he's a natural lefty and is like 6'4" or something post timeskip. Which brings me to my controversial pick - Hinata as libero. As fun as playing hinata out of the right might be, he would get violated when trying to block any international players, and I don't like him as an outside for the same reason I don't like Hoshiumi - I'd rather have the power brought by Bokuto. Therefore, I would want to see Hinata play in the back row as the starting libero. We've seen him develop into a player with an unparalleled feel for the game, and his time as a beach defender would serve him very well in this role. Not to mention we see Hinata absolutely feast on some of the best hitters we meet in Haikyuu. I would choose him over Komori because, from a plot standpoint, we NEED Hinata on the court, and from a strategic standpoint, we know much more about Hinata's capabilities than Komori's.
A couple more notes - I think that middle is a position that could definitely see a lot of movement, any of the four players listed would do well as the starter. From a substitution standpoint, I would likely want to put a different wing in as a substitute for Bokuto if he's having an off day, but I feel that as a player he has generally progressed past the need for that as a player.
I think miya can be replaced by oikawa for this one phrase "he's able to bring put the full potential of others" so the fact that oikawa can help the spikers reach there full potential especially those like sakusa and usijima while also having a powerful serve and extraordinary game sense. I would also consider a pinch server.
I also believe some story would be about the American seeing as they are tied for tallest height average with Australia. so I can see American being a powerhouse blocking team similar to date tech and having the spikers of the smaller Japan struggle to get around the height of America.
I'd say miya would be the pinch server.
Oikawa and Tsukishima deserves in the National Team..
Oikawa is the best setter in the haikyuu series and Tsukishima is a Middle blocker he has a good talent

Realistically, Ushijima is the 2nd name on the team sheet after Kageyama. Japan’s posterboy, primo and powerhouse. The perfect player. Even though Bokuto becomes the top ace after honing his mental side, Ushiwaka is made for the international stage.

personally I doubt the anime will dive into the Olympics. It hasn't really been foreshadowed all that much, and IMO would just be a waste of time compared to what Furudate could do. Like I agree that an Olympics would be awesome to watch, but frankly I can't imagine the author just throwing in the best players again on a team but this time it's a little more mishmashed with kageyama and hinata being on the same team. Personally I hope that the manga goes in the direction where there's just a National tournament, like the one that sakusa was talking about before this match started with ushijima. A tourney where all the d1 teams and some d2 teams participate, along with the top highschool team. Like, why would furudate show us pretty much what every character is doing with their lives now, and so many teams if he wasn't planning on showcasing them. Also I think that would just be more entertaining in general. Like I love the Black Jackals AND the Alders, but to just see them again in another whole arc just seems redundant. Like, we could see Kiryuu vs bokuto again, and goshiki vs hinata, or hinata vs date techs old setter and tsukkishima. Also, with the whole Oikawa thing, I don't think he would play for the argentina league lol, like in real life what players go to another nation as pros and then also play for that team during the olympics? Like same for soccer, Messi plays for a barcelona but during the olympics plays for argentina? and Neymar the same but plays for brazil. Like these players are going to play for their nationality IMO than another. So I think it would make much more sense for Oikawa to come back to Japan to play on a team as the setter and go against ushijima and kageyama in a National Tourney. It's been forshadowed too, like Oikawa said the stage that he wants to play on is no different than it used to be, which was the national tourney for japan, AND he said that he would be heading back to Japan in like two years which when he said that in the manga was what, a few months after Hinata started training there? So if I'm correct about that then it'd mean he'd be coming back to Japan within a few months.
Honestly to wrap it up though I just don't think the olympics arc would be all that entertaining, we literally know nothing about any other national team OR players except for Romero. Like furudate has not had a full match on any teams that weren't at least introduced before hand. I find it would be hard to care about other teams when we know nothing about them, vs having all of these D1 teams in Japan duking it out to see whos the best.

I do feel Hoshiumi offers a bit more to this team as a starter than Ushijima (unless the new statistics rankings coming out) in terms of overall game and mainly as stated in the video on the defensive end. Ushijima coming off the bench as a closer would be like putting Kyrie Irving in the 4th quarter to seal the game.
