    Green and blue jasper. I think I'm gonna faint. Montana must have the best rockhounding in the world. Thank you for sharing your great hunt. Alexis cracks me up!

      She is just the best!😄 and it is a pretty magical place! The yellowstone is definitely a unique place when it comes to rockhunting; a little bit of everything is on those banks!😊 also, i know! I was losing it over that blue jasper! I have found a good amount of green jaspers but that is the only blue jasper that i have ever found in montana

    What a great haul and she did good again. It's a shame you left the one on the log, but it's obvious you really didn't need it. Thanks for letting us come along and labeling the finds at the end is helpful. Be safe and stay healthy 😷⚒

    • @TheoKellison
      @TheoKellison  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Treasure state agates are soo cool! Depending on where you go along the yellowstone, you can get into agatized wood fairly commonly but TSAs are MUCH more rare! I definitely love both but i freak out every time i find a TSA😄 i am also very partial to any fortification agate though😅

      It was definitely a fantastic day! I am still debating on what to do with that beauty; it is just about the perfect size and shape to carve but the prospect of iris makes me want to slab it really badly!😅

    Holy SMOKES that was a good day! That giant banded agate chunk is insane! Looks like we'll be up there from Texas this next week (somewhere around the 6th-8th) to hunt the river ourselves. Don't suppose you guys are planning to be out anywhere mid-week? It would be awesome to say hi to some fellow rockhounds!

    I went rock hounding yesterday at Jasper Beach in Maine! Second time I have been there. Got some AMAZING finds! Both times I also found a fossil! I believe I also found my first agate. I'm not entirely sure. It's not clear but it is transparent & glows.

    Theo: Seeing your shop in the background is so bittersweet...it reminds me of what I don't have now... I can't do lapidary anymore because I'm loosing my eyesight. I watch TH-cam on my phone, 4-6 inches from my face. I do have years of experience, so if I give you tips, I hope that you and others can benefit from what I learned on the "rocky road". Tip for that long piece of agatized wood or anything that you get tired of wetting. Clear spray paint...2-3 coats...looks wet, comes off in nail polish remover! A temporary fix, until you decide what to do with it! (G'oldust Granny is my Tube handle)

      @@TheoKellison I do agree the big agates are more common in east Montana but I got my biggest two a 17 and 15 pound agate in the Billings area so it's a tough call.
