My mother and my wife have it all the time all the chip shops where I am have it on the menu and I'd say it's quite popular, I'm not a fan quite honestly 👍
Yea I was surprised by his comment. Although I no longer live in Britain, 20-30 years ago Scampi & Chips was THE thing to order in cafes restaurants and pubs. I was surprised he hasn’t heard of it.
Scampi has to be full Tail version. you normally get 10 bits in a portion. from were sell it on there menu. it is or seems to be far more expensive. yet you can buy it from Aldi. for I think £2.35 for a bag. its been awhile since i have had any. That once again was a lot of food you had, not sure how you manage to eat it all.
I love scampi with lemon n’ tartar sauce. Never seen it sold in a chip shop over here. Pubs, supermarkets and restaurants. It’s expensive enough for what you get though. You got a good haul of food there for a good price too. 99p for a cup o’ tea? Jaysis that’s cheap. You should try the food out of “combo King”. It’s run by a YT bloke. You’d love it. 👍
You’ll find scampi on nearly every pub menu in the south of England. Is the curry sauce obsession also a northern thing? Seems a weird thing to combine with fish. Give me lemon, tartare or vinegar any day.
Scampi is an Italian word for Lagostine your fish chip chop certainly said shrimp scampi in the style sine Lagostine is more expensive than lobster per pound,
I like Scampi but prefer Donna Meat Chips & Gravy from the chipper also a fan of savaloy or battered sausage & chips. My mum has Scampi in restaurants as she’s not a fan of the taste & texture of meat.
Maybe keep some cultery in the car for just in case? Scampi okay in bar meal but less from a chippy. Don't mind the car videos but prefer the comparison ones.
You were making me hungry with this one. Lovely looking fish & definitely crispy batter, if you get a good scampi then you are on to a winner, need the tartare sauce with these though. Sadly let down by the chips, they looked a little under- cooked for me!! Thank you for sharing.
Amazing job not getting it all over you given you'd forgotten your cutlery (actually if I ever do Five Guys drive-thru again I'll have to take some cutlery)! :-)
Looks good. Allways need tartar sauce (one word, not split, tar…tar. Lol) and wedge of lemon. Not a lover of mushy peas, and don’t get this curry sauce thing, never had that, when I was younger, and should be left for curries, just my preference.😊 Up in Scotland Haddock is the preferred fish. Much tastier than cod. Am fortunate that I live in a area of Scotland close to many fishing ports. Think about a steering wheel tray, and a wild peak spork from Amazon.😊
I used to listen to your show but lately you have been ending with no thanks or see you soons and hastily ending your videos please just don't forget us after you have eaten a thanks and a goodbye or basically a proper ending to your videos please thanks and please stop your edits as you don't cheat finish mouthfuls without editing much love x
Personally most proper fish and chip places know what there doing. You’d have to be extremely lucky with places that have extras with the included fish and chips like a piece of lemon. I think I tried scampi but it unfortunates doesn’t do it for me.
please, please don’t do this… this is not America… nobody in the right mind is going to eat fish and chips in their car. Find a park bench find anything don’t do this in your car ever again.
Hello there, scampi is on almost every chippy menu in London and has been for years, it is also called Dublin Bay Prawns 😊 Used to get a bad press, from tales of them growing near sewage outlets 😢😮 The chips were far to pale, almost under cooked.A whale size piece of Haddock 😊 The curry sauce looked, to me,like baby kack😮 and the peas looked really good ( as a foodie professional, I'm astonished that you don't carry your own cutlery 😮)The cost under £20 can only be a dream down South😢 all looked fantastic, a good feed😂Allan&Family PS,handy tip when you find yourself without eatin' irons.1 use the tops from the peas or curry sauce to scoop up the wet stuff.Or 2 tear some of the cardboard box to stir and scoop ❤😊Allan&Family
@@geebee6737 hi geebee, tell me more. I live in North London (West Hampstead) My two locals charge approx £16/17 cod& chips Cold drink £ 1.50ish And I'm not sure they do CurrySauce or Gravy, but mushy peas kick in at £1.50/2.00. So,give me the details on them cheap eats and I'll be on the next bus!!! Thanks for taking the time and effort to reply
@@AllanNeaves-qn3zr ...I'm more coastal around Christchurch , there's one near Tuckton just before the bridge and a lovely one in the town center both under a tenner , there are more expensive one's like Alexanders and Harry Ramsdens in Bournemouth but we steer clear of those. I would expect the prices you quote for London mate , everything's premium in the Metropolis 🤣 Nearly forgot Castle Parade chippy at Iford , those used to be under a tenner as well.
The haddock looked really nice. Scampi might fall into the acquired taste category. Fine with tartar sauce, better once you are used to how it all blends together.
I think to eat all that mixture it needs to be on a plate , preferable warmed. This guy's food must be cold by the end. I use my local chippy but rush home to a preheated plate. I don' think curry and fish and chips get on at all. Still, he seems to like it a. The fish did look nice an solid too and I prefer haddock to cod as the latter has worms. Also I don't not allow eating in my car!
Hello EIE Wow I love scampi. You certainly have the best way of making peeps hungry. The chips were great, the fish,, awesome. And the side turned into combo bites amazing. Great video, thank you 😊😊
Could you add more info in the videos on the location and parking. Im from Cas so could visit some of these places. An idea for future videos I've had is comparing different cities best places. Wakeys best burger place (Bear Kitchen) verses Leeds best burger place. Leeds v Bradford for best pizza. People love rivalry.
As always, much appreciated but just leaves me hungry! Can I ask, when you do a comparison do you have both meals on the same day? You keep in shape if so!
Great video. Scampi is quite popular down here in Kent and Sussex , certainly more so that fried spam fritter (which I definitely think you should try next).pls keep the videos coming

My mother and my wife have it all the time all the chip shops where I am have it on the menu and I'd say it's quite popular, I'm not a fan quite honestly 👍
Scampi is fairly common, found in all Supermarkets....but I prefer them with lemon rather than tartare sauce...loving the videos
Never tried it
Scampi is so underrated but expensive
I love scampi! I'm going to Whitby for my hols next year. Can't wait to eat fish everyday!
I fail to see what is unusual about scampi 🤔
Scampi is pretty popular in south wales, on most pub menus. I love it
I do see it around but don't really see many people order it, maybe its just me lol
I used to work in a chippy and Scampi was very popular.
It must be a regional thing because scampi is really popular in the South, and on all chippy menus and pubs
Yea I was surprised by his comment. Although I no longer live in Britain, 20-30 years ago Scampi & Chips was THE thing to order in cafes restaurants and pubs. I was surprised he hasn’t heard of it.
Same here in Yorkshire ..all pubs and chippys and a lot of takeaway shops do it.

Curry sauce is really popular in the north
Over 17 quid just seems excessive for a skinny fish and anemic chips. Ppl can get a weeks shopping for that money.
Love scampi ❤️

I only got 10 in my portion
Scampi is super popular at chippies up and down the country, what you on about man? 😂
tbh I liked seeing familiar places being reviewed in the beginning but it all seems a little boring now this..
