Team Visma-lease-a-bike has finally announced that Jonas Vingegaard will start this year’s Tour de France, but despite everyone being hyped about the decision that gave the Tour back the spark it lost back in April, nobody actually knows what version of Vingegaard will arrive to this summer’s biggest showdown. It’s even been revealed that Visma had no option but to take their reigning champion to the Tour, regardless of everything he’s gone through. So, how will Jonas perform at the Tour, and what shape is he really in, considering he hasn’t raced since April?

Sepp Kuss is indeed out of the Tour due to some health problems. The reason it wasn't pointed out in the video is because the video was in production before the news dropped, and these videos take some time to make. Cheers for understanding!🫡

as pogacar said in the netflix tour doc, losing one tour does not define you. if it doesnt happen for jonas this year, there'll always be next year, and thinking back on the 2 last tours we can only be thankful. also his wife is pregnant which might be why he isn't going to the vuelta

a punctured lung and multiple broken bones are very difficult to come back from, let alone in such a short space of time so its pretty obvious he isnt going to be 100%, like Jonas himself said, he's just happy to be on the startline, and I can only agree with him.
Tadej will put Jonas under a lot pressure in the first few days of the tour for sure, then we will see just what his condition is like..

What's the risk? Not winning the tour? Certainly won't happen without him. Not winning stages? They can change gears on that front literally at any minute. Not much risk.

He could be in top form by the end of the tour, but probably will lose too much time in the early stages to catch up and repeat.
Consistency being very important in repeating a championship.
Not to mention that Tade is in top form.

No doubt this time....he is fit...more experienced and mature...unless he crashes
I think so. 3 of the other favourites, Jonas, Remco and Roglic crashed in Basque Country with various levels of injury. Only Tadej made it to the tour injury free. He is the clear strong contender from the start. If he can pull multiple hard attacks in the first week, I don't think the GC battle will be quite as close as last year's.

Stage 1 will certainly see if Vingegaard could keep pace with the Pog, Rog and Remco for the final mountain climb and if he could, would he keep pace with descending trio to the finish in light of the previous crash?

First of all, I think that Vingegaard at 70% or 80% is still very competitiv even if its not for the win. And Secondly, everyone seems to forget that alot of other top riders also had to deal with injuries this year and Poggi also still could potentially loose time due to mechanicals (Gravel stage etc) or even be part of an accident in the tour (I hope its not the case by the way)
And the same can still happen to Jonas as well.

Taking Jonas to the tour is a great risk I wouldn’t take if he is not 100% ,to skip this tour would not make him less of a man

I dont know whose going to to win because Vingegard has been seriously injured & Pogcar has had covid. Whether either would be recovered in time who knows. Same for Roglic and Evanapoel as they were both injured as well.
Unfortunately Jonas is out of battle. Looked ill and hurt yesterday. If things go close to normal, it's an easy win for Pogi.
I just think , is my opinion , that Jonas is in this tour just for the show . He couldn't recover at full and he'll be not recover at 100% in whole his entire life after those injuries . Let's be honest , a broken bone is a broken bone it's not the same with a healthy or not damaged bone EVER . And at this kind of competition , like the Tour de France , well , he must give a 100% power , health and physical condition . And, don't remember the team members for both teams how they're standing Visma vs UAE . In normal conditions , even with the science and knowledge of the contemporaneous medicine it wouldn't be posible for Vingegaard to be the last one when he , ridiculous ,beat Pogacar !?! Why ridiculous ? It's very simple to know why if you rewatch the entire last Tour de France and the Netflix movie : The Tour Unchained . You cannot beat a two time champion of the Tour de France , such is Pogacar before the unknown Vingegaard with no noticeable results in cycling comapring to Pogacar , like he did last year !!! And how can anyone forget ... the famous time trial when he beat Van Aert ?!? Wow ! and Pogacar with that enormous gap over 1:30 minutes !?! Something isn't right !! All the media at that time rise the same question : How is it possible ?!? Then again , who am I to judge all of that ? These are not my conclusions but there are so many cycling specialists that have those question marks . Why is so much publicity over Vingegaard ? Am I the only person that visits www.procyclingstats.com/rankings.php ?
Just take a moment to make a comparision between Pogacar and the rest from 2020 till now . Who is Numero uno ? Who won monuments Tour de France twice and Giro this year ? And so on ... Strava etc.. If everything will be okay , UAE will crush every team and Poggy will make the double : Giro and Tour de France . God help !!! I was wondering : Why Tadej was suffering at high altidues and high temperature , after all he was born and rised in Slovenia , a mountainous country and his birth place is into the mountains if I recall corectly and Vingegaard from Danemark , 54° 33' 35" to 57° 45' 7" north !?!! And the highest ... hill is Møllehøj with an altitude of 170,86 meters !?! And Vingegaard became overnight top climber and he had no problems with heat and high altitude !?!? Hmmm ... this is something ! If it was for Bernal , well I get it , he is from Columbia and a very gifted and powerful rider with achievments before participating the Tour de France , But than again , who am I to judge ? We will see .

Stay fairly close for first 9 days. He will be in shape by stage 10.
Vingegaard healthy in a tour is about 4 min faster than a healthy pogacar, in 21 stages. Stay w i 3 min stages 1-9. Then in stages 10-21 make up those 3 min
Bad video here. Kuss is out of tour. That fact and the fact that this is an oddball strange parcours w extremely hard races starting day one, stage four, early tt too, no early routine flat stages for sprinters. Those early climbs and no Kuss really hurt v chances. W Kuss and w regular course it wd be 50 50 chance for an injured v, but now w this strange course it’s down to 20%.
Both v and p know that at a normal tour v is easily the better racer. V has that going for him

vingegaard healthy is about 0 seconds faster than pogacar healthy. pog was on the exact same level the first 2 weeks and then blew off cuz of bad prep. idk where you get those 4 minute fairytales from. you have no understanding of the sport. their watts numbers are absolutely equal and pogacar is the slightly better bike rider overall.
