It's also the fact both straight and BL couples (especially the BL ones with the huge homophobia that surrounds them) don't interact publicly much after promo ends in order not to get much the attention from their next project. It's an unspoken rule.

I hate the fans who ruined this for them, now I’m sure there won’t be anymore public interactions or dramas or films with them together because of the huge controversy. They’ll probs avoid casting them together to not cause another controversy again because of fans. 😢 so upsetting to think about it.
I don't think it's fair to blame the fans for everything, this whole thing only becomes controversial because of homophobia in society, it's a much deeper problem
It's much more than fans issues, it's complicated, fans just make this worse.
It's mostly them being now top billing actors aka having their own main lead dramas which reduces the chance of them to be cast together again.
It's also the fact both straight and BL couples (especially the BL ones with the huge homophobia that surrounds them) don't interact publicly much after promo ends in order not to get much the attention from their next project.
It's an unspoken rule.

They are not just interacting much, rather, they haven't been interacting publicly at all for the last several years after the 227 incident. The few times when they attended the same events, they didn't even greet each other passingly, they actually arrived and left at different times strategically to avoid running into each other/getting too close accidentally. Obviously the event organizers, their staff and security took care of this. That's why many people think that their agencies have prohibited them from interacting in public, and that this prohibition is going to end in 2026 when Wang Yibo's contract with his agency ends and when Xiao Zhan will be able to cut his last ties with his old agency (I don't know about the latter, though, as Xiao Zhan actually has his own agency now, but, from what I understand, he wasn't able to completely severe the ties with his old agency). Although it's very likely that this is also their own decision, taken in order not to harm their careers more, and the end of their respective contracts with their agencies is not going to bring as much change as their fans are hoping for.
In any case, with the 227 incident and everything that happened and keeps happening with their fans etc., their situation is different from other straight and even BL on-screen couples.
