Jesus heals a blind man who becomes a disciple
People with faith see Jesus correctly
Do you see Jesus correctly?
1. v. 46-48 eyes of Faith cry out to Jesus on desperation
there is no indication of miracles in Jericho YET!
His words has traveled to Jericho - Jesus is passing through.
Bartimaeus is a blind beggar- he has no way of making money- he is socially insignificant . He, like us, is in a desperate state.
When he heard it was Jesus of Nazareth, he cried out- Jesus- Son of David, have mercy on me! heaven is for the desperate
Son of David- 2 Sammuel 7
the blind man didn't say Jesus son of Mary. He acknowledges who Jesus is!!
** this is the first place Jesus was called Jesus- Son of David. this is a statement of faith what is mercy- to be greatly concerned about someone's need
V. 48- many rebuked the blind beggar- Jesus doesn't want to talk to you!
the blind beggar didn't stop but got louder!!!! he showed desperation even more
2. Eyes of Faith know Jesus hears their desperate cry. v. 49-51
Jesus says- Call him!! now the crowd says- take heart (the people's attitude changed when Jesus called him- so they said Take heart- other than this time- only Jesus says take heart. they may be scared for him.
the blind man throws off his cloak - that maybe has his money- didn't matter anymore- only Jesus
what do you need to throw off today? Jesus has something better
v.36 Jesus said the same thing but different audience. disciples wanted a blank check to be apart of His glory, but v. 51 he said have mercy on me!! this man was desperate and wanted His mercy!
Rabbi- another CONFRSSION of faith- only used one other place John 20:16
3. those with eyes of Faith follow Jesus as his disciple
go your way - command- go live your life- your faith made you well- he recovered his sight immediately- physical and spiritual at play- the man followed Him on the way- when you ate saved by Jesus- Jesus's way is your way!! he fixes his eyes on Jesus chapter 8, 9, 10
Jesus predicts His death 3 times sandwiched between 2 blind men healed
Mark 8:22- Jesus heals blind man
Mark 8: 27- Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ- then in the next chapters Jesus predicts His death 3 times- then Mark 10:46- Jesus heals a blind beggar- who has a confession of faith followed by becoming His disciple!!!

Children' Church
Children's Church is offered for boys and girls in Pre-K through 3rd grade. This takes place during the worship service and is designed specifically for kids so that they receive the Scripture at their level.This takes place in the Annex. Students who attend Sunday School are escorted over to the Annex after Sunday School so parents do not have to do this.
