    i have always loved your work from the model railroad magazine articles years back when i worked at a library there was a volume of books with green and cream white covers on the central vermont railway from various eras well i bought the books at a book sale and this started my life in model railroading wanted to model the CVR my interest was in a later era thank you for continuing to share your layout and info on this iconic railroad

    Marty,
    Thanks for posting the update, the layout is looking good. We lived in Vermont for a number of years (Fairfax, VT near St. Albans) so your scenes are a nice reminder of our time there.

    Bonjour Marty, Long awaited wonderful update on the progress so far. I love every inch of your CVSNE. Buildings and scenery are outstanding. And it shows that a model railroad doesn't need a 'spaghetti bowl' to be interesting and fun to operate. The train lengths are within proportion and the entire layout is in a natural and beautiful balance and harmonie. Looking forward to new progress update video's. Meanwhile success & happy model railroading ! Cheers, Filip (France)

    Wow! What a great layout! The scenery is top notch. Your model railroad has one of the things I love most, It gives you the feeling that it is a place you have actually been to. To me there is no greater modeling success then that. Great work! Now I must go look to see if there is a newer video. :)

    I enjoyed the video tour, Marty. It looks like you've been busy. As an aside, back in the 1970's, my wife and I were seriously into raising and showing rabbits, and used Beacon feeds. We miss your updates over at the (new) RR-L Forum!

    I absolutely love your fall scenery. I’m In the very early stages of scenery. I’m going with fall on this layout. I’m a bit nervous because in my opinion if you don’t get the colors right it can look really bad. Fingers crossed lol

    • @cvsne678
      @cvsne678  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The trick to fall scenery seems to be picking a basic color palette and sticking with it. And having a "base" color with just slightly lighter or darker "accent" color for each tree. Helps avoid the dog's breakfast look of widely different colors.

    A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout, though as I'm somewhat limited on space, I don't believe mine will be quite as large as yours.

      @@cvsne678 Thank you for your kind words :). I am well aware of that fact, as I initially wanted to build a huge layout, but someone at my model railroad club told me that larger layouts can be overwhelming.

    • @cvsne678
      @cvsne678  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the kind words. I use mostly Scenic Express Super Leaf and Noch leaf flocking. I use at least two (usually three) shades of leaves on each tree - and even airbrush a light dusting of a complementary color.

    Any updates coming soon? Really like your layout. What’s the era specifically?

    • @cvsne678
      @cvsne678  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I just posted a new update yesterday. The era as far as the scenery, signs, and other items is set in 1948 - but I have equipment from about 10 years on either side of that date (the diesels for example!). Rural Vermont didn't really change much between 1940 and 1960 !

    Just great, we need more modelers to do NE railroads! And while I don't know what your final vision will look like, frankly I really like your present ratio of structures to open space. IMHO way too many model railroads have way too much STUFF crammed into them, whereas real railroads located in even the densely-populated northeast corridor pass through plenty of stretches where the scenery is mainly trees.

    • @cvsne678
      @cvsne678  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate it. Yes, I'm a big believer in "white space" on model railroads. I think the open spaces enhance the "show stopping" scenes. I appreciate that's not everyone's take on it, but I find it works for me.
