- On 1 July 2014, more than 3,000 SAF regulars,Operationally Ready National Servicemen, and full-time National Servicemen attended the SAF Day Parade held at the SAFTI Military Institute. There, they recited the SAF pledge and reaffirmed their commitment to the defence of Singapore. The best Is the 1st and 2nd Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment since it was formed up and involve in confrontation 1963 - 1966..
The man and commanders worked so hard for the parade.
1. President don't sing national anthem. How to expect younger generation to follow?
2. Some super high ranking officials can't even stand still for a period of the national anthem
3. Chief of defence doesn't know the saf pledge well, so if that's the case, what are core values for in the first place?
The national anthem is for the president his Excellency president tony tan
The President should sing the anthem he's not a monarch ( King or Queen ) so that doesn't exempt him from singing the anthem.
An example :
China's Xi Jin Ping always sings his anthem, while the Queen does not.
+Meowth If you don't know the tradition, don't comment so much ... Go read S R Nathan's interview, he gave an answer previously about why the President of Singapore doesn't sing the national anthem. This applies to current Pres. Tony Tan.
***** Well ... like it or not, that's just part of the customs. It's not specially for *this* president, it's for *every* president. S R Nathan answered this question before, after he stepped down. And yes you sing to a nation and not to him, just that he happens to be the representative of the nation that you are singing to. Also, it's the same in UK where the Queen represents the kingdom as the monarch. So yes, the president / head of state / monarch etc. does not sing the national anthem.

The parade commander is Contingent Commander for NDP 2011 Name is Francis Tan Hock Leng .. nw is Quack seow hong , something did the commentor of ndp 2011 make wrong mistake?

Because this isn't the Karaoke and there's nothing that says it's obligatory for anyone to sing along to the national anthem in a formal military occasion. Do you see Queen Elizabeth singing God Save the Queen ever at the Queen's Birthday Parade at Horse Guards Parade in London? It's only in America you would over express yourself and sing to everything.
