this Killing Voice was definitely made to appeal to the Korean masses. All of the songs they picked were their major hits there which, y'know, I get. EXO in Korea is the group of a lot of people's childhoods/teens so logically, I get why they'd go the nostalgia route. But for EXO-Ls who've been around and STAYED around, we're here for the R&B b-sides where they SING THE HOUSE DOWN! I wanted more of a showcase of their wide vocal talent. It was still nice to hear how clean they sound and see how effortlessly they can do these older songs live, tho
That is kind of the format for Killing Voice though, so its understandable. Everyone goes there and is expected to sing their biggest hits. No one has broken that formula as far as I've seen so far

this is like my fourth time watching the killing voice and i just realized that it wouldve been insane if they added tempo but only the acappella part...

yes i was so hoping they'd do the acapella breakdown of tempo! 😭 they def should have replaced one of the winter/christmas songs with that.

That would ask too much of an effort out of D.O as we can see he dodged his Monster part at the end so Tempo's parts are also a no go for him 😂 it would suffer like Call Me Baby, a total no climax part as he dodged that 4part bit before the rap.
I think they added First Snow because it is one of their most famous and popular songs, not even in their fanbase, but with their general public. It was released in 2013 and since then it goes back to number 1 every year on the day it first snows in Korea lol. Basically all of Korea listens to it during the first snow of the year

Exo has so many good songs in their discography they were going to miss a lot of great songs. They could have done THE B-Side - El Dorado (which I love) but I don't mind because we get other great songs instead.

Honestly I loved that killing voice. They were definitely having fun with some of the songs they were singing. Especially Monster, they were really feeling that song. Cream Soda did grow on me because on this killing voice. I also feel the same as you. Why wasn’t it longer 😭😭😭

Micah, i was surprised you were surprised that Sehun sings. Sehun harmonizes with the rest of the group all the time and is often the second layer with a tenor. And the only good thing about Kai's enlistment is that we could hear Sehun, Xiumin, Suho and Chanyeol cover his parts seamlessly. Sehun sang in the same tone and warmth, I, having Kai as my ult, almost heard no difference, he's also taking vocal lessons as the rest of the group and constantly growing in his skills. Sehun as much of a backbone for EXO's beautiful harmonies and multidimensional vocals as the rest of the group.

I think one thing to notice too is how far Chen is from the microphone, compared to Baek and D.O. his voice resonates so much he doesn't need to come close to the mic to be heard, so much power in his voice. 🔥

I actually just saw 2 reactors who consider themselves vocal experts say Jongdae was trying" too hard" in this performance cause they couldn't /wouldn't believe he 1. is able to hit his notes without effort even though you can see how relaxed his whole body is and there's no strain in his neck 2. Jongdae was deliberately choosing his delivery style and vibrato. They then honestly said that they think in reality Jongdae probably just has a SMALL voice that can't be heard without microphone 🤦🤦🤦🤦 this is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say about an EXO member😂😂😂 The insanity. Jongdae can sing you through a wall!

So happy to see your reaction the the "Killing Voice" performance. All of them shined vocally and showed how much they are improving day by day. NGL the song choices weren't that great because they have a lot more vocally interesting songs but I guess they chose songs that are loved by koreans. But like... not having tempo or anything from the Obsession album... ugh.
14:10 I was also singing that "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" part in Monster. Wish they'd done it TT I saw a comment about EXO needing 3 Killing voice performances for Title tracks, b-sides and winter albums and I couldn't agree more. Their discrography is just golden. Yes i totally agree with you guys , i was actually furious after watching their killing voice.EXO can flawlessly do much more than this thing. Now after watching Mamamoo and Btob killing voice, i was so damn confident that Exo killing voice will be it. BUT i felt unsatisfied, like cmon man just 19 mins , with title tracks only??
EXO are RNB kings for a reason. I felt so dumbfounded, like where are obsession album songs, tempo bridge could have been better choice rather than power.

He probably said that because it's another member's line. Pretty sure he knows Sehun sings from all the songs in SC's albums. He meant no harm no worries.
I felt offended too. In most of exo's songs, his singing voice is only used for harmonizations. But everytime he's given the chance to showcase it, even with minimal lines, he impresses and that's on vocalist sehun 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Idk why people get surprised when members like Sehun & Chanyeol show their talents in singing. Like they won't even be a part of EXO if they couldn't sing so beautifully. EXO is a group with all-rounders 🤍🧡
@@nibrinxhe just isn’t a vocalist, the rare parts he sings he does with discomfort, he greatly improved on his rap and flow, so I’m proud of him for that, he doesn’t have to be a vocalist and that’s ok

Its definitely a different experience watching this from South Koreans or even any Asian's pov who grew up listening to these songs and have already attached a sentimental value to these songs. The song choice appealed to that audience for sure. Ending it with Power is also an emotional note cause this is the soundtrack to a lot of shit exols have had to go through while EXO was being mistreated by SM.

I think this was more of a greatest hits concert as opposed to actually flex their vocals with songs that would do that. Still enjoyable however; a nice trip down memory lane. I love how D.O. is so unbothered next to happy virus Chanyeol.

Okay! So I’m biased, EXO is my favourite group and for me no one is at their level vocally or otherwise (I’m biased). But yes this Killing Voice set list was made to appeal the Korean fans. I wish they had showcased their vocals more or had a bit more fun! They needed to let loose, but they are perfectionists so I get that they were maybe a little more careful. We need a part 2 because 19 minutes is not enough for EXO Vocals!!! Okay so the backbone of EXO harmonies and songs really is Xiumin, Sehun & Chanyeol and a lot of people don’t know or don’t pay attention. Most of the time in the studio versions if you pay attention those 3 are the ones filling up the track. They all have improved so much throughout the years and it’s insane that they can sound even better now! Definitely check out EXO-SC & EXO-CBX as well as their solos if you haven’t yet, you’ll hear different sides of all of them. Thank you for bringing our girl Sylvia for this reaction 😁 she honestly needs to just dive into all of EXO and lose herself in their vocals! They are insane! Like listen to Chanyeol’s cover of John Legend’s All Of Me, CRAZY! Anyways thanks again 🙏🏽🫶🏽
You can tell the main vocals were just warming up.. Chen looked like he wanted to do this for 3 hours, Baek for 6 hours lmaoo
You can tell here how Sehun's voice is needed to give the group's singing a darker tone wish he's confident enough to chime in even though its not his "part" like during lives he can really add something to their songs and D.O is behind all the power of their choruses. When he refrained from singing during Monster, Love Shot, Power, the chorus was severely lacking his powerful more masculine sounding vocals as to contrast between those sweet tenors.
Oh, I agree, Sehun and Xiumin add in so much flavor in harmonies. Sehun's confidence has grown so much though, All of them seem comfortable, I think they have reached that artist level. No need to prove they are vocal kings.

I did definitely feel like they were holding back a little in this killing voice - I think it has a lot to do with both the songs they chose and the parts of the songs they covered. They could have done the parts of the songs where everyone was SANGING but it is what it is. I just want a part two with the songs the masses WANT.
I’ve been an exo-l for a long time so it was interesting to listen to this compact greatest hits and think back to when each song came out. It helped me see just how much they’ve grown since debut. Oddly enough, while I was listening I thought of Chen the most. Clearly, he’s always had an enormous amount of talent, but I think he’s learned to modulate his voice beautifully over the years. Every one of them has reached the point where what they do is relaxed and seems effortless. And you guys, loved the harmonies!

I am obsessed with *@ **12:58* with *D.O* and *Chanyeol's* little run there, *@ **13:22**, Chen's "so crazzzyyyyy"* was 👩🏽🍳😗, *@ **19:10**, Baekhyun's (@ **21:19**), Chen's (@ **20:03** & @ **20:16**), D.O's* and *Suho's (@ **20:58**), 'I need all ya, cream soda!"* And *@ **20:41* the back amd forth rapping from my guys *Chanyeol* and *Sehun* were 🔥😌
One of the things I enjoy about D.O's voice (apart from him making it loook SO easy), is how he is able to get emotion across. I think that was very evident in this performance of Miracles in December - he had a few lines, but they hit your heart.

Sehun sings! You can def hear his voice mostly in EXO's harmonies. Try to rewatch and focus your ears on the Overdose part(it's very obvious and I also love that part), he's the one singing the low octave aside from Chanyeol. His low octave on EXO's songs is what makes it so good.
I also rewatch it a multiple times to confirm that it's Sehun who carries the low octave on that part and yes he is! I am living!😭

Too many killing parts were missed but I honestly cannot ask for more. This EXO on Dingo almost never happen. And I am more than blessed because of this comeback.
I’m an international fan and I listen to all of these albums on the regular.
They usually only sing their main title tracks and popular songs in Killing Voice which is a bummer because EXO's best songs are in the bsides. I
I at least expected them to do the acapella in Tempo. I hope they're just saving it for next time, manifesting EXO Killing Voice Part 2.. I mean, EXO's killing voice has gotten the most views in a day so make it happen, DINGO!

About "Wait" live, of course that they used the track with the backing vocals because two of the vocals weren't there, so they had to adjust/compensate in the live performance.

It wasn't a SANGING CLINIC but it was nice. Very...safe? I think other KVs had younger groups, higher energy, but EXO seemed more chill. Except Xiumin. He kept slipping into choreo.

I love their Killing the Voices, it's just such a shame that they didn't include Tempo or anything from DMUMT. As for Obsession, I still waiting for them to sing it as 8 member version since it was released when Xiumin and Kyungsoo were in military. Also I recommend you to check more of their b-sides, such as the classic 90s rnb/hip hop Ya Ya Ya (with an sample of SWV's you are the one), One and Only, Good Night, They never know. Or their ballads are beautiful as well, e.g. Universe, Miracles in December, Sing for You, Stronger, For Life, Bird (Japanese track).

I love yall’s EXO reactions as always! ❤ Do have some things to say tho. This was recorded around the time CBX filed their lawsuits so I think that could have affected the mood or potential lack of “openness” that yall pointed out. They had little time preparing for the tracks and like what someone had commented earlier, the playlist is tailored for Korea’s GP for sure. They have too many hit titles hahaha.
Nonetheless, the boys absolutely delivered - EXO are prime examples of kpop idols not being just pretty faces who can dance and sing (tho they have it all) but are stand alone vocalists too. Anyways, appreciate the reactions and critique - it’s nice hearing them especially when I have the same thoughts 😂

I think part of the reason they did so many Title Tracks to introduce EXO to the people who only got in Kpop during 4th gen/the pandemic/EXO’s enlistment era. Tho I do wish they had done more besides from the overdose/exact albums. I loved that they did Sing for You/M in D/ First Snow since EXO really shined in their 4 winter albums. Probably why SM has really leaned into doing Winter special albums in general

One thing to add is that D.O definitely dodged his money notes and they were some of the memorable parts in their hits so it took away from the "Killing Voice" aspect/vibe. Chen and Baekhyun were game to do their thing but when it comes to his part, like Monster, D.O did not highlight his. It was right after that epic rap battle and would've complete the whole buildup. Notice how the energy died, good thing Chen/Baek picked it up.
They couldve highlighted a different part of Call Me Baby, the one with the bridge but maybe D.O wasn't up for his money notes that day 💁♂️

He didn’t dodge it-they decided to highlight Baek, Chen’s and other voices. Haven’t you noticed that D.O. in the Exist album mainly exists in riffs and in the background. His role as one of the lead has diminished. He doesn’t even have a solo line in hear me out. it’s ok, he doesn’t have to prove he is a vocal king to anyone. He is who he is and we know what he is capable of…acting, dancing and in singing!!!
