Advancing Your Photography I would love a video(s) about backing up and archiving your images. What are some of the options and their pros/cons? What do you guys do to make sure your prized images are safe from a hard disk crash, theft, or God forbid a fire / natural disaster. Thank you!

The single shot here with no cuts gets a little boring. I like to see videos of the camera in action and example shots shown to back up what the photographer is describing.

Thank you for all your videos I really enjoy learning from you and catching your inspiration and enthusiasm. Like you I was studying photo journalism at Colorado State University back in 1969 when I applied for a open position at the University‘s paper. They gave me a Nikon FTN and handed me some assignments. It was a great challenge but I really enjoyed it. That process was interrupted when I joined the military during the Vietnam war in 1971 I signed up to be a combat photographer but they made me a medic instead! Most of the combat Photographers at that time had two cameras… A Nikon F for the telephoto and a Leica M with a 35 or sometimes a 28. I still shoot with my Leica M2 and my Nikon FE2. And I use Fuji Cameras because they remind me of those cameras. Thanks for all your good work. I had a dear friend who was a photographer for the LA Times and to also taught at Brooks and I learned a lot from him. His name was Anacleto Rapping. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago a great friend and a great photographer. You would’ve liked him.

I love my Fuji XT3. The primes are fabulous lenses. One aspect I love is shooting with the B&W film simulation enabled, but I still use the raw files and convert to mono in post. That way I can see the world in monochrome in the view finder, it really helps me to pre-visualize my final image. Also, when using manual focus I turn on focus peaking with red. Super easy to see the focus with red peaking.

Agree with you on the OM-4 series! Loved the metering system on those cameras. I used those with the winders and Tokina pro line of zoom lenses at the beginning of my 10-year career with a small weekly newspaper before switching to Nikon for autofocus. Now in retirement, I have switched to Fuji, first with X100S and X-E1 and now looking toward the X-Pro2 and 35mm f2 WR lens for something lightweight and weather resistant.

Though I'm not a professional, I converted to the Panasonic M4/3 system for many of the same reasons as you pointed out. Compared to the APS-C Canons I used to use, I'm more than happy carrying around less weight, and the near compact size is wonderful and they have a wide variety of lenses of various affordability. One camera body (w/lens) and a small shoulder bag with an extra lens, filters and batteries is a breeze all day long. The mirrorless revolution has really made photography, for me, more enjoyable than ever!

OMG!!! I agree with your points (not a pro here, just amature street photog and occasional animal/nature/wildlife ) and have just invested in a 50-140 f2.8 with 2X converter to set on my 2 year old Fuki X-Pro2!!! Just one (slight) complaint about the Fuji lenses: the 23mm f2 is a bit soft shot wide open: in the streets, when I get the nerve to ask permission for a portrait (from a stranger); it usually is not tack sharp but apart from that, I'm very very happy with the system. Thanks for takingtime to make this video.

I still have a Pentax LX, its an amazing 35mm Camera. I used it all the way up until 2008, when I went over to Pentax DSLR, and continued to use those beautiful K-Mount lens from the 80s.
I've got a Sony, I've tried Canon too, but I just missed those manual controls of the Pentax LX and that why today I'm using a Fujifilm X-T4, it is as close as I could get to those manual controls that the LX had.

Kodak Instamatic (my dad found one on a bus and brought it home), Zorki 4K, Pentax SP2 (still got it, still works - shutter sounds "like the sigh of a contented woman") with SMC 1.4 lens (works even better today adapted for XT3!), 3 or 4 other pentaxes, Nikon for 20 years, and then the arthritis set in and D200 concrete block just unholdable. Went to D5300 - great images but ten minutes deep dive through menus and screens, choose X, then select y, confirm choice, return to shoot, and meanwhile the circus has upped and left town. So a recent Fuji convert, and loving it - work it in the dark, I find fuji shooting a "whole body" experience - look at a scene and your hands mould the picture into being. And I'm blown away by the lens quality at the price points.

The film camera experience and controls got me here.
My son gave me a Sony and I hated it, having to plow through a ridiculous menu all the time just wasn't for me as with you I seldom use the menu and only use the Q menu to change settings all in all I have to recommend the Fuji X system especially to old film shooters like me 😊

When you say "it works", I believe you since you have used many brands than me (Yashica - pre 2006, Sony - until 2010, Canon - until 2017, Fuji - since 2018). Having to go into the menus (like you so eloquently point out) is awful for me too. I then discovered the Fuji X-T2 and it is pure love. I love the ergonomics and the lenses, although I have a special place in my heart for the Zeiss 32mm and 50mm. I am in awe at the quality of the pictures this combo takes. I have shot with Nikon since 1963, and some Zenza Bronica for weddings in the 80s and 90s. The feel of the system all the way through is what I have known since I was a kid. Cameras, cars, bikes, tools, whathaveyou; whichever simply gets out of the way and you forget is there so you can do what you need to do is the way to go. :)
Spec sheets don’t have that factor. Which tool lets me get to work rather than think about the object? :)
Sounds like great taste in cameras for a long time!

@@michaelnikonfuji3539 I owned the original X100 and sold my X100F to fund the V so I've been using this form factor and really enjoy the size. Also I feel people don't get to flustered over this cute little camera as they would a giant DSLR pointed at them. I took it out street shooting this past weekend for the first time this and really enjoyed it. The tilty screen is a huge plus for this camera series.

It's not a secret but I don't share my projects until they are complete. I've worked this way since the late 80's. I do this for several reasons. One, it's easy to talk about projects but it's difficult to do them. So, I don't like to say much until I have the goods. Second, part of this particular project is sensitive and I can't have tons of people, or even a few show up where I'm working. Would be bad all around. My New Mexico project is also ongoing but I will probably work on this for the rest of my life.

Man, good luck finding one intact these days. I heard a funny story about the LX. No idea if this is true but about thirty years ago they loaned a bunch of them out at the super bowl to get photographers to test them and most of the units broke during the game. I'd still take one.

To add, Fuji lenses are tack sharp and brilliant with the X mount. A lot of them defeat the Canon L lenses I use for studio work. I prefer Fuji and Leica-Panny lenses.

Some of the Fuji lenses I have are so sharp the images do not even look real. Like some hyper-reality. I often tone the sharpness down a bit in Lightroom.

My husband gave me a Fujifilm FinePix AX600 for Christmas in 2013. I had it four and a half years and it broke. There was no information on where to get it fixed. Since the Fuji camera did not last that long, I could not bring myself to buy a second one. I wanted a new camera so I went out and bought a Canon Powershot elph 190is. I have all the contact information for Canon in case the camera breaks down. I was always attracted to the quality of pictures taken by the Canon, and they did not disappoint me. In my opinion, the Canon camera which I bought takes better pictures then the Fuji camera that I had.

Hummm, i was a big Fuji user (GFX 50s for many years. Magazine covers etc). I switched to Leica M10-R with 1.4f 35mm and 2.0f 75mm. I needed autofocus to shoot friends kids bday and used XT2 for that with 16-55mm. I realised how good Leica is with images and never Fuji XT for me. Just my opinion and experience of course. Thank you all.
