    Mark, I have the Amex Marriott Brilliant,. I was hoping that Amex do an upgrade to the Brilliant; Platinum status and an annual 85k Free night certificate. Do you ever see Amex adding these upgrades? Especially the Platinum status? Of course, for these benefits an increase to the AF will be more than welcome for me. My guess is NO for the Platinum status upgrade. The reason I say this is because per my understanding of the Centurion card (Black Card) it only give you Gold status. That is ridiculous for that $5k AF (plus $10k initial payment). Cheers brother 🍻

    I am going to need this re-visited once the new Marriott cards come out. I remember there was a 2 day window to get the Amex Brillant if you already had the Ritz Carlton. I am going to down grade my Brillant due to the change in the $300 travel credit to the dreaded use-or-lose monthy pain-in-the-@#$ method. If the new premium card is going to get me Titian I am going to be Marriott loyal without question. If not I might get a 3rd Ritz Carlton and continue to manage the $300 travel credit for my airline upgrades.

    Great information Mark! I currently have the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Visa card. I want to apply for the AMEX card for additional perks and elite night credits. I was approved for the Visa card September 4, 2020. For the 24 month rule, does it go by the exact date or the entire month? I tried to apply for the AMEX today and it said I wouldn’t be eligible for the welcome offer and I could cancel application and not proceed with credit check, etc. I cancelled it. So, does that mean I need to wait until October 1 and try again? Thank you for helping navigate this.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Erin - I'm not entirely sure. I'd personally wait an extra month. Going by the 'exact date' may not work if the card issuer goes by your credit report, which may have a delay in getting updated. Good that Amex provided the pop-up warning 👍 (Also realize that the pop-up could appear for other reasons).

      I don't think so. I think the 30 Days means you aren't eligible for the bonus if you hold the card, or have held it in the last 30 days. So if you hold the Ritz card, you would need to close it and wait 30 days before applying for the Brilliant. This was the example he gave at 6:50 in the video, also saying that the workaround could be to downgrade the Ritz to the Boundless, then wait 90 days to be eligible for the Brilliant bonus. And I think it would still need to be 24 months since getting a bonus on the Boundless/Bold card.

      Yes 👍 Ensure that you add your Marriott Bonvoy # on the application and your points earned from both cards will be combined into the Bonvoy account.
