Hi I have discovered these instructions and tips actually are becoming clearer the longer I dance and the more partners I dance with . People comment regularly that I have improved immensely and rapidly .. guess what! I am doing less group classes since I found Miriam and Leonardo but find more practicas and brave it at the Milongas
Great hints (although most of them should be common sense) Dancing together is all about having a good time together rather than to impress neither follower/leader nor the audience. As far as the distance of the embrace is concerned I often use the first dance with a new partner to define the comfort zone. Forcing a too tight position in the embrace from the start may lead to a feeling of discomfort/stress. Some followers are trying to show off by adding tons of embellishments making the leader become a "statue" most of the time. Natural leaders offer the follower to shine and look good in a way that the follower can always chose to accept or to go on. Same for Ganchos which leaders can invite but leaving the choice... Volcadas are also something that should be initiated softly and avoiding extreme angles A leader pulling the follower in a 45 degree body position may cause pain/injury or a feeling of discomfort at the very least. Finally when finished a set thanking for the dance or appraising the partner is always appreciated and shows respect and style.
Very helpful discussion regarding tango etiquette for both leaders and followers. We so enjoyed your instructions on how to properly connect the embrace and head positioning. It is rare that Tango instructors discuss these important lessons. Thank you for your generous hearts!.....cynthiaArt
Great tips for Milongas! 👍 It's amazing how some people don't have common sense or aren't thoughtful of the other person when it's the first time dancing with them. Really great advice.
Best advice. Thank U very muchoo. Love the way You Both dancing and explaining. Simple and clear. Love the idea of respect the lady's posture... cause not many guys know and not many lady knows that.
I'm just intrigued that there are so many different instructions for the same point for eg.. I git told that the man must not put his arm going across the spine of the partner..apparently the fingers must rest on the spine .. no more further.. but here you show something quite different .. I'm sure both are correct then !! I have been following your beautiful instructions for a long time so will stick with you I think !! thank. you ,,,
Very useful tips, although personally I prefer the full on embrace rather than the V-embrace, as the full on embrace (for me) seems to allow more easily steps on the closed side of the embrace. Ganchos are a no no for me. I do like your tip of elongating your collar bone and slightly pulling back the shoulder (unless of course you are doing say a giro). Hope to get back dancing before too much longer!
amazing tips.. one question, how to make the guy not to breath on my face. I got that a lot and had to turn my face out which was not a good posture. 😖
In a precious video you said don't connect with forehead because it changes the line and makes the follow feel heavy. But you connect here. Which one is more correct?
Great guideline and I've enjoyed it. Question I have is, how do you manage ( adjust/accomodate) the embrace if the partners hights don't necessary match? Picture is a thousand words, would you be able to demonstrate it in some future video pls
Could you teach the follower how to recognize the steps or directions which the leader want to do like : if he lifts you up a bit means stop, lower means ready to walk …. Please 🙏
These are some very useful tips! Every leader and follower should be aware of the etiquette but I feel like its not always the case.. Even I am still learning because I’ve been dancing only since 2 years now but I try to respect them. Edit: I was just thinking about something and I want to ask the community maybe someone can enlighten me. Isn’t there an unspoken rule saying that leaders should cabaceo followers that have more or less the same height? In my city I am one of the smaller dancers and I really don’t feel comfortable dancing with the belly of the leader in my face 😂 but I am not good at rejecting cabaceos so it happens quite often and its not fun
Leaders who jump straight into complicated moves right at the beginning of a Tanda are not pleasant to dance with for sure. I appreciate a progression in complexity as a Tanda goes on.
Reg 4:46.What about situation that female partner indicate that she does not understand the lead due to evident lack of tango education?! Nearly 99,9% of female partners just block themselves in half way as frozen "pole".:) disturbing the "flow" :). I see in this situation evident fault in her dance education ! Fault of teacher ! The leader has to limit,"per force", the introduced variations :) of steps just to simple, understandable ones !:), no matter how sweet the partner is :)
Best tango instructors ever.
This was the best video on understanding the embrace that I have seen!

Happy you are enjoying it💕
You can tell an experienced leader by how he progresses from easier moves during the first song towards more complexity at the last song of a tanda.
Great point about taking it easy first song and being humble. Patience is a virtue

technique très élégante en ce qui concerne "l'embrace"... Merci mille fois Miriam et Leonardo pour ces explications très claires.

Very helpful tips. Can you talk about proper etiquette at a milonga and about the cabaceo and how to handle an imposing leader on the dance floor?
How Desiree! Yes, absolutely!
We'll answer that question in our next video! Thank you for asking! ❤️❤️❤️

One more thing - a class on marked embellishments and unmarked would be great!

What's the importance of sincronic breathing ?

Thank you Pam! ❤️
Thanks a lot Pam💖
Excellent tips! Thank you!
Or maybe the follower is inexperienced and doesn’t know so many steps,so the leader should sense this and start with basic steps.
