    I just recently purchased one P16M to test some settings and I’m gonna set up some BUS Outs for various in ear and personal monitorings. I have a few friends I want to help out. I like how you break stuff down. I tend to get excited and end up saying a lot at once.

    Thank you for your hardworking. I reset our system at our church to this set and WOW, what a difference. You are truly amazing, thank you for helping out this sound guy out! I am also setting up our FX channels from your other videos.

    Great video! This is definitely really helpful. I might try and talk to my chapel coordinator to see if he is cool with me making a separate scene so that I can tweak around with some settings without affecting our main scene. One thing we really lack is having good quality sound for our live stream. We live stream each chapel and it always seems like everything is dry, empty, or just missing EQ overall. We talked about adding room mics to add a natural reverb to the mix, but I'm wondering if it is still an EQ problem.

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's probably a little of both. When done correctly, the techniques in this video will help with the EQ discrepancies between the live room and the stream feed, but room mics will definitely help make the feed feel more "real" and "live" and less closed off sounding. They are also very nice to pipe into the band's ears if you're using ears.

    I think one of the hardest things in going from an older Presonus StudioLive to the X32 is different terminology for the same thing. You run into the same thing with DAWs. Looking at people's Mixing Station layouts for the X32 I see lots of buttons left with names like "Bus01" "Bus02" and MixBus, MixBus,MixBus. I can only assume those can't be given names indicating their function.

    Ok so you set up the matrix ... are they automatically connected to the M/C and Master main channels to the right on the mixer?

      Craig Bowman Hey Craig. It’s been a couple of years since I made this video but, if I remember correctly, I show how to route the LR to the Matrices and I don’t think I actually involved the M/C at all in this video from what I remember.

    Hi Chad
    When you initialize the console, does it wipe out the library or the scenes you have saved?
    I want to try the matrices setup but I don’t want to lose the other settings I have. If I save the scenes to a usb can I reload them in the library?
    I recently updated to V4 on the X32 and I was not prepared to rebuild the board, and don’t want to have to do it again.

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there are different options for initializing the entire console. I want to say that the first option only resets the mixer and nothing else.

    is it the same if you send main LR to the matrixes with the point of insert of lc, in? ...like where you have postFader selected in the video but not postFader, you select In/LC ...

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Toby, great question. Many consoles other than the X32 don't give an option for anything other than Post-Fade for matrices. Also, Post-Fade is the default for the X32 after initialization. That's part of why I didn't change them in this video.
      Generally, I prefer to keep those tap points set to Post in case I need to quickly adjust the master volume for any particular reason (maybe something is feeding back in rehearsal and I have no idea what yet).
      That being said, a cool option might be to leave the Mains and Subs set to Post and to set the other feeds to Pre-Fade or IN/LC if you want the LR fader to control the volume in the room and not affect the other feeds. That's one of the things I really like about the X32. It has some pretty amazing flexibility to it :)
      I hope that answers your question.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

    So how does this work together with your other video "setting a better stream mix"?? In this video you sent each destination the exact same level from the lr bus. How do I take this concept and work with setting up a stream mix using sends on fader and do whatever I want independent from the lr mix? What if my stream is lacking kick drum or room mics?

      Are you talking about this video? th-cam.com/video/9dsKZJRhY1I/w-d-xo.html
      In this video, I show how to use a post-fade mix to have a stream mix that basically follows the mix of the room but allows for basic level changes to make up for the sound of instruments in the room and more.

      Chris, I'm sorry, I just realized why you may have been confused by this video. I honestly forgot that I put a Stream Feed in the Matrix section in this video. I did that for example but it could easily be replaced by a separate mix like in the other video. It really depends on the level of control desired. The main point of this video (that applies to either situation) is that you should start by EQing your room matrices so that a mastered audio file will sound good both online and in the room.
      I hope that clarifies things a bit. Sorry if it was confusing :)

      Ascension Worship - #TechTuesday my dude ! Yes thanks lol 😂 I personally like what you said about eq for room and stream but I like the the individual bus mix control (send more kick or overheads online than room) thanks man!

    Why do yo waste a matrix for main LR when you can do the same kind of output eq directly on the main LR channel? The amps can be turned down or up at the same way as well...

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mattia Ippolito Great question. The answer goes a little deeper than the X32 as this technique works on other mixers I setup as well like an LS9. Basically I want there to be zero processing on my master bus as that is feeding my matrices and potentially my USB recorded. On an X32, I could set the USB record tap point to Pre-EQ but again, for consistency with other mixers, I don’t really bother with that unless I’m actually hurting for more matrices and for me, that rarely happens.
      Also, I want my LR going post-fade to my matrices in case an emergency happened, I want to be able to drop the fader volume of the LR and have that affect all my speaker groups. I want the fader control but I don’t want the LR’s EQ to go on every speaker group.
      I hope that clears things up a bit. Excellent question.

      It's the old 2.5 version of the X32 Edit app. It can still be downloaded from the Behringer website.
      www.music-group.com/Categories/Behringer/Mixers/Digital-Mixers/X32/p/P0ASF/downloads
      Scroll to Apps, select "See all applications...", from there you can download version 2.5

    Can you address the analog to digital conversion at the preamp ( and possible loss of bit depth if set too low there) as shown at 24:10 in this video ? He also mentions the desire to have "high resolution" (granularity) by keeping channel faders near unity and how sub groups help you with final volume in the house, but it isn't clear what you'd do if keeping preamp gain at "line level" ~ -18dbfs forces the channel fader into undesirable territory. th-cam.com/video/khBHcfyI5e8/w-d-xo.html

    • @AWTechTuesday
      @AWTechTuesday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you’ll get a lot out of this video. It talks about the fader resolution issue and some smart ways to “fix” it.
      Ultimately, if your faders are super low, that indicates that your speakers are too loud. Ideally, you’d turn down the amps. If you cannot do that, you can also use matrices to digitally attenuate the output volume to optimize your fader positions.
