she seems very mature for her age, her fiance is adorable and they've clearly known each other a very long time. if this were a bad decision you would see it in their story or her behavior but no, if we hadn't been told her age i would have assumed she was close to a decade older! and she chose a lovely dress as well. i don't agree with the mom on the sleeves comment but the important thing is she found something everyone likes that makes her look like the grown woman she is.

My sister married her high school sweetheart, both at 18 and they are 49 now.
She thinks she is happily married to her narcistic, controlling husband who isolates her and their children from society and from our biological family. Her personality completely changed and none of her friends, nor I, even recognize her anymore. She used to be so fiery. Now she is subdued and obedient to her husband. If she strays from whom her husband groomed her to be, he loses his temper, and she cannot have that. She used to have bruises on her arm during her grooming phase.
He especially doesn't want her interacting with me or her old friends since we are a "bad influence."

😲 She looks and sounds like a 29 year old. I looked like I was 14 at 18, and I had just had my son. I blushed at everything and very shy. This is a grown woman. I do not believe this.
Like the dress is not fitted to her of course its gonna not look perfect. You can tell instantly those that have no imagination at all and her mother does not! I hope her day is a wonderful one. 18 is young however I know a couple that got married back in the day at 13 and 14 and they were together until old age took her husband.

You're lucky it worked out. Congrats. I got married at 18 but it lasted only 10 yrs. He ended up cheating on me with somebody much younger and left me & our 3 kids for her. Our youngest was only 13 weeks old at the time. They got married but it lasted only 2 years.

"She's mature" - I agree, but maturity doesn't compensate for a lack of life experience. I was a "mature" 18yo too, but I was also absolutely clueless. At that age, we simply haven't lived long enough to be fully developed adults. I wish the bride all the very best - sometimes young marriages work great! But we don't need to pretend that age is meaningless.

For 1000s of years people were married younger than 18, it's only recently that society has said it's too young. People change no matter what age you are to make a marriage work you have to work at it and adjust to changes.
Yeah my nan was married at 15. Not by choice, to an awful man. Just because it was normal doesn't make it right.
I've been with my husband since I was 18 and if he'd asked me to marry him then I would have said yes but I'm so glad we waited until we were more mature, had experienced more life together and were in a comfortable place in life.
