Ten bucks? ....no he didn't, unless it was a refurb, a blem, or the phone was a gen 1. Or the sales chimps put the wrong tags on the merchandise. Best Buy's cheapest gen 2 during the 2015 holiday season was the Spring prepaid for $39.99. BB also moves a Verizon prepaid for $69.99. Four hours ago, I bought one of the Verizon prepaids used off Craigslist for $35 (it was two weeks old, still in the box, unactivated, with the Verizon sim chip not yet installed -- so it was for all intents and purposes unlocked).
Wow. I stand corrected. ....They're going to be stuffing smartphones in cereal boxes within a year at this rate of price free-fall. It reminds me of the calculator crash in the late '70s.
+EveryThingTech I am a little reluctant to get this phone mainly because of lollipop. I had a bad experience with slow/fluctuating wifi and slow to sync devices with bluetooth. Does it have that problem?
EveryThingTech Oh cool! I think I'll pick this phone after it hopefully price drops. My current LG power phone sucks cos of Lollipop bugs that annoy me and there seems to be screen problems :(. Even though it is upgradable to marshmallow and lollipop I wouldn't do a upgrade cos it'll eat up all the internal memory.

Great video, you we right about the lumia 640 & now this phone. I just picked up the same phone at Best Buy for....$44!!!...Crazy good deal! For a phone to have 4g LTE & lollipop at this price!!!...Unheard off. I've been using it for a few days now and its a very solid phone! I work 12hr shifts & It has held up better than I expected. Its nice & smooth & I'm a music junkie so the front speaker is on point!. Thanks again for the review.
i bought one today but didn't check the reviews first! Anyway, was lucky it's great for the price. And I agree with the video - the missing camera flash is a real shame. Perhaps they could have missed out the crappy front camera to 'pay' for it. Otherwise, great. I disagree with lots of reviews, I think the display is pretty sharp.

The Moto E Gen 2 is the most grip-friendly full-glass-front smartphone I have ever held. (In fact, the "BONUS Grip Shell" that came in the prepaid vender's box actually made it worse by covering the "soft-touch" factory finish, which is sort of halfway between a bare plastic feeling and the optional leather on some high-end toys.) It will not just mind-of-its-own skedaddle out of your hand to the floor on a suicide-mission like your typical slippery iPhone or Samsung. And 4.5" is about as big as you really want for a "front-pocket" pants phone. (The Moto E 2nd's physical dimensions are virtually identical to the venerable Casio fx260 solar calculator, a model so ergonomically and portability perfect that it's been in continuous production for twenty straight years.)
I have owned this phone for two years with a Verison account. Some times I find the volume is not good even when volume is turned to Max. Also I hate the preloaded apps that hog up my memory. Overall though I do like this phone.
This was my first (starter) smartfone. It was free from Boost 2 years ago. Last year I "upgraded" to iphone 5s. That sucker would randomly turn itself off for 18-24 hours once every other month. This last time it would not come back to life so I took it to the apple store who told me they could recover the phone but only back to the factory reset. All my data lost. So I pulled my FREE MOTO out of the drawer and had it reactivated. The only thing this fone does not have is the camera flash for depositing checks but it does everything else, including games as more expensive stuff that is not as reliable. Next time I need to deposit a check to my out of state bank I'll upgrade again but this will be back in the drawer, it's a keeper. Go Moto
Just sprang for a FreedomPop refurb 2nd-gen Moto E on Tanga last night -- only $39.99! Hopefully the FreedomPop definition of "refurb" matches mine, and it's in decent condition (and will provide decent voice quality on FreedomPop, too).

+Torling Pader Its all up to you at the end of the day, yes this is barebone android with a couple motorola features and insanely good battery life, and I do think it will be updated to android m but it will come after all of the other motorola phones, this is the lower end of their overall lineup. +lzh3131 I would recommend a used iPhone, for the ease of use for a family member such as a 5S. On the Samsung Side they tend to get slow over time unless your advanced user. Also consider checking out the BLU phones they all run clean android which is pretty simple to use and very stable :)

Hello, I know it's been a year, but I'm from a 3rd world country, lol. I want to buy this phone. Reviews are great, but idk if they're biased or not. Three of my friends had it and they're telling me it lags or freezes up. I want to change my phone because of that very reason, so now I'm hesitant. What do you recommend? I don't play any games, nor use any weird apps. Mostly I just use whatsapp, some facebook, and that's it, really.
Great video, agree with what you said completely, and love the speed! However, I do experience some fps drops when playing fairly simple games but nothing major, just thought I would say. I do have one query though. In settings, under the device tab I don't have the Moto or Home options, it just ends with Display. It's not really a problem, just curious as to why it's different If anyone knows why, would be great to know :)

S.O.S. Thanks for sharing, I just purchased this phone and I noticed there was no mention of the tab label on the left (camera faced down - opposite of the SIM card & SD card slot. I have a Motorola 2nd gen E, the MicroSd card was working fine until it stopped reading it telling me to re insert card, whether i removed the card or not, it still won't read it, even when i cleaned the card only to re insert it and still find myself with the same problem, is there any way to recover it without having to reset factory settings?

+Se7enwonders hello there, 1.) look for wallpapers in the google play store, 2.) also you could go to google chrome browser, search the images you want, save the image, go into settings, display, and change wallpaper, and select the image you saved from the browser.
Se7enwonders This was also my first smartphone and my first phone but it was the C spire version. It got replaced with my current phone the Samsung Galaxy j3 after accidentally dropping it on the side cracking the screen. But I like my current phone a lot better. There's a little bit more space and it's not deleting all my songs from having too much space like my Moto-E did. My current phone has 16 gigabytes built in with my additional 30 something gigabyte sd card which I took from my old phone which only had 8 built in gigabytes and put it into the one I use now.
I got this phone free through US Cellular pre=paid. The only complaint I have is that it only has enough for about 3 app downloads. You have tons more apps than I have; but I got a 32 gig sd card today so I think I will be okay with that. No complaints with the camera either. I have an app that I have to take pics with and they are always sharp.
+Gunasekhar Reddy this smartphone is absolutely perfect for your dad based on what your telling me. The phone has excellent reception and battery life. Also I recommend you check out the Microsoft Lumia 640 as well if he prefers windows phone that is a bit better than this phone and is only 5$ more
Late reply but yeah I would Step 1. Download and use clean master Step 2. Enable in developer options 3 processes running at most Step 3 in developer options change animations to .5 or lower. Other than that the 1GB of ram might be the culprit with many apps on your phone hogging the memory.
Same pixel density as my flagship-back-in-the-day Samsung Galaxy S2? Interesting! (And I've seen the Virgin Mobile version for $39.88 at Walmart -- and I might be able to activate one of those on RingPlus, according to other RingPlus users who have done so successfully.) Of course, I just got done buying a used Boost Mobile LG Volt off eBay to use on RingPlus -- but if that doesn't work out, I am mightily tempted to pick up a VM Moto E for cheap!
I have a moto e and it is doing well. One thing I've run into is running out of space. I don't have a huge amount of apps downloaded, but when I try to update the ones I have, it tells me I have insufficient storage. You'd think since I have the apps already, I would have enough storage for some upgrades. I'm not sure what I can get rid of or how. Do I need to add an sd card? Or are there some programs that are safe to remove on my phone that come with it?
+ticnangel Hello there, if you have that message it is most definitely a system apps insufficiency go ahead and 1. remove all necessary apps, 2. move your pictures to a cloud storage such as google photos. 3. download apps like clean master which can clean up plenty of system cache to allow for another 500mb-1gb of storage. Try those steps out and report back :)
Are you kidding? Got this phone yesterday and I'm in love with it I downloaded 13 games and they download FAST 0% to 98% in 2 seconds I only have 4.98 gigs and it seems like unlimited data
+EveryThingTech I tend to be scared to try and remove apps as I don't know if they are necessary or not. Pics get downloaded to my pc nightly, so it's not full of pics. I have removed some things and haven't had that message for awhile. Also haven't been doing a lot of updates. Haven't tried clean master yet.
ticnangel Do a factory reset. Then only do updates on your own. Like TH-cam and Chrome Do NOT do updates when it says updates available because it will put loads of unnecessary crazy amounts of apps to your storage and take all your storage room up . I learned the hard way not to do those updates. Now after the factory reset, my storage is great
I bought my MOTO E from Target and Has all A T&T Guts inside. I have Consumer Cellular as my server and I have CC chip.The chip allows me to call and text. how do I delete and get rid of all the other AT&T stuff out of the phone of theres?
+Michael Close Hello there, thank you for your question, some of the software is cannot be removed unless you root the device and install your own software, go ahead and hold and drag to delete all apps that are able to be removed. As far as that AT&T logo, that is easy to get rid of by ordering new back cases on motorola.com or ebay and amazon :)
Nice review, I honest love my moto E 2nd generation. Yes it's a budget phone but hey it's pretty good for a budget phone the text and everything is pretty pin sharp. (Not as perfect as Samsung phones) and the front camera isn't the highest quality but it's not bad be most budget phones shouldn't even have a front facing camera so it's something. Just need to get it in the right lighting. but it's pretty good. I switched back to android be in my opinion android is better in many ways that iPhone.
Nick Ackerman No problem at all. I think the fact it comes with 4g LTE And lollipop is an amazing thing. Most phones don't even have that for prepaid so to me it's not bad at all. People are just so into specs they brush the phone off as "not good" bc it doesn't have a 20 Mp camera, 401 PPI screen and not the fastest phone but hey it does pretty good. So I agree with you too ☺👍👌
What he leaves out, and I have one. Is the poor capacity of the internal memory. And that in the UK, it came pre-installed with Google apps that can't be removed. Meaning capacity is very poor.

I just purchased this phone from ebay. I broke my $200 dollar Samsung Galaxy Avant but I'm 14 and it took me foreveeer to save up for that phone but this looks like it does pretty much the same thing. And all I really use my phone for is instagram, youtube, calling, texting, and selfies. I hope I like this! :)

Last time I put a 32GB micro memory card and moved all my photos and videos on it etc, so I could have more room to download music on my 8GB Motorola 2ND G phone and it crashed! I lost everything, so I was wondering what happened? It said something about not being supported and then I was unable to re-use the chip or get my photos etc back! So...I am really hoping to avoid that from happening again.
EveryThingTech ya I mean it is a prepaid phone and I mean it comes with Android lolipop.....not that many phones even come with lolipop so that's awesome. But it's just a great overall phone. :)

I have a Motorola 2nd gen E, the MicroSd card was working fine until it stopped reading it telling me to re insert card, whether i removed the card or not, it still won't read it, even when i cleaned the card only to re insert it and still find myself with the same problem, is there any way to recover it without having to reset factory settings?

Hi, I just got one of these phones. It's my first smart phone so please excuse me if this seems a silly question. Would you have any advice about getting free wallpapers ? What I had in mind was the classic NY skyline (Manhattan image). Can you get these for free? What's the best way to download this on to my phone?
+Se7enwonders hello there, 1.) look for wallpapers in the google play store, 2.) also you could go to google chrome browser, search the images you want, save the image, go into settings, display, and change wallpaper, and select the image you saved from the browser.
Se7enwonders This was also my first smartphone and my first phone but it was the C spire version. It got replaced with my current phone the Samsung Galaxy j3 after accidentally dropping it on the side cracking the screen. But I like my current phone a lot better. There's a little bit more space and it's not deleting all my songs from having too much space like my Moto-E did. My current phone has 16 gigabytes built in with my additional 30 something gigabyte sd card which I took from my old phone which only had 8 built in gigabytes and put it into the one I use now.
I got this phone free through US Cellular pre=paid. The only complaint I have is that it only has enough for about 3 app downloads. You have tons more apps than I have; but I got a 32 gig sd card today so I think I will be okay with that. No complaints with the camera either. I have an app that I have to take pics with and they are always sharp.

+Gunasekhar Reddy this smartphone is absolutely perfect for your dad based on what your telling me. The phone has excellent reception and battery life. Also I recommend you check out the Microsoft Lumia 640 as well if he prefers windows phone that is a bit better than this phone and is only 5$ more
If your dad ONLY USES CALLS you can buy a cheaper smartphone than this like the lenovo a2010.It's cheap and the battery life is pretty good.....

Step 1. Download and use clean master
Step 2. Enable in developer options 3 processes running at most
Step 3 in developer options change animations to .5 or lower.
Other than that the 1GB of ram might be the culprit with many apps on your phone hogging the memory.

(And I've seen the Virgin Mobile version for $39.88 at Walmart -- and I might be able to activate one of those on RingPlus, according to other RingPlus users who have done so successfully.) Of course, I just got done buying a used Boost Mobile LG Volt off eBay to use on RingPlus -- but if that doesn't work out, I am mightily tempted to pick up a VM Moto E for cheap!

How do you make a confrence call on the Moto e 2nd Gen?
I have a moto e and it is doing well. One thing I've run into is running out of space. I don't have a huge amount of apps downloaded, but when I try to update the ones I have, it tells me I have insufficient storage. You'd think since I have the apps already, I would have enough storage for some upgrades. I'm not sure what I can get rid of or how. Do I need to add an sd card? Or are there some programs that are safe to remove on my phone that come with it?
+ticnangel Hello there, if you have that message it is most definitely a system apps insufficiency go ahead and 1. remove all necessary apps, 2. move your pictures to a cloud storage such as google photos. 3. download apps like clean master which can clean up plenty of system cache to allow for another 500mb-1gb of storage. Try those steps out and report back :)
Are you kidding? Got this phone yesterday and I'm in love with it I downloaded 13 games and they download FAST 0% to 98% in 2 seconds I only have 4.98 gigs and it seems like unlimited data

I tend to be scared to try and remove apps as I don't know if they are necessary or not. Pics get downloaded to my pc nightly, so it's not full of pics. I have removed some things and haven't had that message for awhile. Also haven't been doing a lot of updates. Haven't tried clean master yet.

Do NOT do updates when it says updates available because it will put loads of unnecessary crazy amounts of apps to your storage and take all your storage room up . I learned the hard way not to do those updates. Now after the factory reset, my storage is great
I bought my MOTO E from Target and Has all A T&T Guts inside. I have Consumer Cellular as my server and I have CC chip.The chip allows me to call and text. how do I delete and get rid of all the other AT&T stuff out of the phone of theres?
+Michael Close Hello there, thank you for your question, some of the software is cannot be removed unless you root the device and install your own software, go ahead and hold and drag to delete all apps that are able to be removed. As far as that AT&T logo, that is easy to get rid of by ordering new back cases on motorola.com or ebay and amazon :)

Nice review, I honest love my moto E 2nd generation. Yes it's a budget phone but hey it's pretty good for a budget phone the text and everything is pretty pin sharp. (Not as perfect as Samsung phones) and the front camera isn't the highest quality but it's not bad be most budget phones shouldn't even have a front facing camera so it's something. Just need to get it in the right lighting. but it's pretty good. I switched back to android be in my opinion android is better in many ways that iPhone.

Nick Ackerman No problem at all. I think the fact it comes with 4g LTE And lollipop is an amazing thing. Most phones don't even have that for prepaid so to me it's not bad at all. People are just so into specs they brush the phone off as "not good" bc it doesn't have a 20 Mp camera, 401 PPI screen and not the fastest phone but hey it does pretty good. So I agree with you too ☺👍👌

I broke my $200 dollar Samsung Galaxy Avant but I'm 14 and it took me foreveeer to save up for that phone but this looks like it does pretty much the same thing. Last time I put a 32GB micro memory card and moved all my photos and videos on it etc, so I could have more room to download music on my 8GB Motorola 2ND G phone and it crashed! I lost everything, so I was wondering what happened? It said something about not being supported and then I was unable to re-use the chip or get my photos etc back! So...I am really hoping to avoid that from happening again.
