  • Today, our cruise was in Amsterdam, and we set out to explore Dam Square and take a canal cruise. What we could never have imagined is that my ventilator tubing became SEVERELY damaged and completely unusable when it dropped on to the cobblestones and was subsequently run over by my scooter. Thankfully, a very kind employee named Isabella at a nearby store called TK Maxx sprang into action and saved my life. Without Isabella's help, I am not sure this story would have had a happy ending. #godismystrength #ventilator #neardeathexperience

Birthplace of the Van Halen brothers! So glad your “adventure” was resolved quickly thanks to Isabella. All of the Dutch people I’ve met have been extremely nice.

Wow, sorry for the close call there Kiddo - that’s some Divinely Inspired Duct Tape there, make that 1,000 (and two) uses - hope you ordered some backup tubing….And some Duct tape, ya never know 🧡💛💚🙏🙏🙏

Thanks. I had extra tubing with me on the cruise. As soon as I got back to the ship, I could replace the tubing. We also had duct tape with us, but again it was back on the ship. I should probably throw some duct tape into my ventilator bag. That would be a great addition to the supplies I bring with me. Thanks for the idea.

Just a small anecdote for you. I went on a once in a lifetime trip to Yellowknife in Canada to watch the Northern lights. (we couldn't, it was overcast the entire trip) While there, the charger for my bi-pap broke off. I had never noticed that it was turning or kinked or anything. Without the cable I could't charge the bi pap and without it I can't breathe for long. It wasn't as urgent as what happened to you but I found out about it when I woke up and instead of a fully charged battery it was totally empty. There was no place nearby to buy a cabel of thet type and fixing it was very hard, espcecially with the presuure of me breathing labouriously. So I'll taek your recent experience into account and I hope you check your charger before you travel again. I'm so inspired to watch you travelling. I feel so afraid of agreeing to the tracheostomy as I feel that would change everything forever. Take care

Thank you so much for sharing. That is quite a story! I am so sorry that happened to you. And I am so sorry you could not see the Northern Lights. What a bummer. I hope it was a great trip anyway. Thanks for the great tip. I will definitely check it before I travel again. I am sorry you are afraid of agreeing to a tracheostomy. If I can help in any way possible, let me know.
