i think it’s more likely they will be bringing back gen 2 Lps . simply because the majority of people who will buy these new products will be LPS collectors, i don’t know too many people who collect the 1990s pets nowadays and I think basic fun is aware that they are way more likely to see success with gen two. I will be absolutely ecstatic if they release gen 2 back in good quality. But for now I do think it’s best to keep our hopes down just in case we don’t get gen 2 back. Thanks for addressing this in a video

I think that Basic Fun is aware that most LPS collectors nowadays focus on the G2 lps, and they were very popular too. I would say they would mainly focus on bringing back the g2 ones, but maybe they would make the G1 LPS alongside them? Oh and imagine old LPS with new designs. Some old ones would be so cool to see in stores

Besides them mainly using g1 for stop motion posts even though g3 should be their main focus currently
And the quality downgrade with g3 clothes and hair and the inconsistency in design between animation, movie, art and dolls
Also never forgetting how Nickelodeon hired a director for the movie who did racist stuff before
And also them all taking Jacksons backstory and slapping Clawdeen over it, trying to sell it as a new storyline💀

@@muffyy01 i have a theory on that... I think Mattel is in an unofficial legal battle with universal. I don't know how to find out if it's true or not though, but with things debbi derryberry said and the very limited use of G1 & 2 Frankie and previous statements about the return of monster high. Gen 3 is through paramount which is a competing company with universal despite previous partnerships. Nickelodeon is owned by paramount so for Mattel to get the monster high series on air they had to work with paramount. Universal likely would've only distributed movies like before and not a full TV series. All of the G1&2 movies have been removed after a short stint on Paramount after being added shortly before the release of the live action movie. Plus from what I've seen all of the new g1 clothing merch is in adult and juniors sizes and all of the new g3 clothing is in toddler and child sizes. I don't think it's necessarily that they don't want to give the fans what they want. I think they can't. And they're probably trying to keep it out of the legal system and handle it behind closed doors because of all the recent legal battles with MGA. I also think they don't have the funding, but that would be a whole other essay.
This is news to me! My baby sister feverishly stood by the old LPS designs I'm happy they are coming back! I wanna gift her all of them if they really do bring back the Gen2 designs XD

I'm a younger teen, so I grew up with LPS-TUBE heavily. I'm not into collecting them anymore, but this was definitely a nice little surprise to see. I hope both the newer kiddos and teens my age will come back with a better version of the LPS youtube community.
Let's hope they at the very least release a mix of the two older generations. I think it'd be really heartbreaking if they didn't.

Exactly! I’m gonna be 18 next year and I’ve stopped collecting for around 3 years now. But I still find myself watching lps videos once and a while. I hope the younger kids and older kids/adults can come back to this! I wish I had the imagination I had back then but for my case, it’s time for me to move on.
LPS-tube! All the edgy teen drama series... There was an LPS-story for every genre.
When and if the time comes that Hasbro confirms they indeed will be bringing back G2, I will literally cry. I’m 22 years old and being able to go back into stores seeing these gems from my childhood on the shelves again would be a dream come true.

Older pets have already lost value. You can get fakes that are IDENTICAL to the real ones now. They arnt worth anything for the majority of pets.
a lot of the older pets arent even all that valuable theyre just overpriced

Financially speaking it would make sense to go with G2. As popular as Kenner lps may have been, I think it may be difficult to profit from in terms of the current trends of kids toys. Both Kenner and G2 have adult collectors but G2 I feel has a higher likelihood of appealing to kids personally. So fingers crossed we get G2 🤞
Most definitely go with gen 2 I have a wide rage of gens but 2 was my favorite
with how they highly resemble the same cuteness as G4 mlp (and g5 mlp to an extent, the show at least) it would DEFO be a good choice. Cute big heads and eyes, tiny mouths and noses and small fitting bodies are peak cuteness designs and would defo peak interest within kids of any age, maybe even teens. As a now young adult I would DIE to see it in stores.
wow i haven't been into lps for YEARS but if they bring back g2 lps i'll probably start collecting them lol. lps was a HUGE part of my childhood and i'll never forget it. i can't wait for new updates about this.

If they do bring back generation 2 hopefully they’ll make new LPS but with the g2 molds and the same nostalgic airbrushed design so that collectors like us have more LPS to collect as opposed to just re-releases

I'm sure that both will be released because the G2 lps are the most recognizable to the point where even people who aren't in the community recognizes them immediately (in other words it'll be a waste if they don't make G2 lps after all these years), but the article kept talking about the Kenner ones as well
so if it's not G2, it's both
HOWEVER, if they do recreate G2 lps, I think it'll probably be made in a different material because the plastic from G2 lps is really bad for the environment

yep! some people are worried about the value of lps going down if they rerelease, but i think it’s gonna be easy to tell which ones are the originals and which are the reboots
I’m so happy! I never grew up with the old LPS, but my cousins did! They passed them down to their sister (who is my age) who BARELY uses them! Maybe I could convince her to let me have them? Who knows…but I am very excited!
I haven’t grew up with them either and no one in my family has them but luckily I’ve been able to get my hands on some :D oh and good luck on getting them from you sister lol !

I use to own 3 lps, but 2 (which were customs) got lost in a move, and the 3th one my friend got me as a present is still with them (i haven't been able to pick it up from them yet)
I grew up with LPS HEAVILY. I’d buy them at stores, watch TH-cam videos and commercials back in the 2000s of people playing or even watching them on Hasbro Display shows. Crazy. Love them and hope to see the older gens make a comeback. The latest ones haven’t been so good lol
It seems to me that Hasbro will be VERY profitable to re-release the old pets, which is why they want to return them. In any case, I will be very happy about it, as well as any person who grew up on them and collects them
A sad fact, in Mexico (where I live) is IMPOSSIBLE now to find lps, I have over 200 and as a “collector” that is very sad to me ☹️

I also have the same problem but most of mine lps are ordered just I don’t live in Mexico and I have 62 pps
It could be that fewer and fewer children like LPS and that in some countries stores are taking it off the shelves because of this

I remember being so upset seeing the new lps looks and refusing to buy anymore of them, but man, hearing about this actually brings me back to my childhood again
The main reason I grew out of LPS I because they started changing the design of them. This may bring me back to collecting them since I still have my old ones anyways. The stress I went through trying to get LPS I wanted on eBay for cheap was unbearable for me and my family lmao. It’ll never be the same as when I was little right before they started changing them, but this is definitely gonna bring some closure instead of being forced to grow out of them.
When I was younger, I used to buy those fake ones off of ebay or Amazon, I loved the designs of the G2, the only ones in stores were G3s. I was obsessed with Lps and loved watching skits and series. I’m happy to see Lps again! I might as well go back it, I still have my old ones.
I'd love to see new g2 lps especially since I was too young to really see them in stores as a kid, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. Honestly I'm just happy knowing that there are going to be new lps at all. For a while I genuinely thought the littlest pet shop brand was completely over
me too i'm what you would consider a pretty young kid so i never really got to see the actual lps, lps flourish i have gotten some as gifts or because i begged my mom for them lols but i would like to be able to go to an actual store and buy them and not pay buttloads of money ( RIP my piggy bank 2012-2022)

IMO you make a good point that they might be thinking of 90s LPS. I would say just mail Basic Fun and politely ask for "LPS from 2005" or whatever year. (They won't know what "G2" means.) They're a small company and they are very friendly and responsive. But they can't read the minds of fans. You have to explain to them what you want.
I’m really leaning twards the fact that hasbro bought the licensing and brand name to littlest pet shop and never produced the 90’s Kenner molds (meaning, they probably don’t have them) so we probably won’t be getting G1 pets.

That statement seems very promising with how they acknowledge both generations and how successful they were, I'm pretty sure they might bring back both.
I grew up with the 90s Littlest Pet Shop, and those play sets were AMAZING! I used to play with them for hours when I was kid, and I collected everything I could. Yes, I am old. Personally, I like the present day styles. I could never really get behind the early 2000s style, but I definitely understand why people like them. My biggest disappointment is that the present-day versions don’t have magnets like the 90s. You see, when I saw the teeny tiny Littlest Pet Shop figurines coming out, I thought: Yes! They’re going to put magnets in them just like the 90s! However, they did not, which was a bad move. The 90s style had magnets in the toys that allowed them to carry their babies around, play with toys, and hold food. I want them to do use this concept in the present-day figures, but bringing back the 90s is an acceptable compromise.
Actually there was a huge wave of G2 lps having magnets in them! Which means they could interact with magnet-based accessories :) Me and my twin loved sticking them on the fridge and making them race their way down :D
A good few of the first G2 waves actually had magnets in one of their paws! They could be used to stick them onto certain items, some would open up accessories and whatnot
I actually have the very first version/generation of lps!! As a lps collector, it is actually an amazing collection item!! Nobody seems to talk about them, since they were not as nearly as popular as gen 2, but aaaAA I love having them in my collection!!

I started getting into Lps just as the G2 Lps were slowly dying and getting introduced to G3 Lps. So I only have a few actual G2 pets in my collection which makes me sad cause I’m older now and I’m getting busier with school work. But I’m not in high school yet, so if they do end up bringing G2 pets back, I might be able to replay my child hood, but better. I’m excited. I know it’s not official that they are coming back, but if they post an article about it then it’s a high chance. And if they stick around long enough maybe our kids may get the pleasure of enjoying them as well😊❤

I think the 90s lps are equally as cute as the 2002/2005 lps! Even if Basic Fun doesn’t bring back G2 lps, bringing back 90s lps is something that I can get excited over. Although it would be awesome if G2 lps made a comeback as, let’s be honest, it is the superior lps generation. :)))

I used to be into LPS a lot when I was a little kid. I grew up in that era and they're my childhood, but now I gave them away to my little cousins (they're now both 16 and 12, and don't play with them anymore).
It's so exciting that they're finally bringing back the old LPS after all these years!!!
I just hope they will be easily available worldwide, these releases always seem to only happen in the US, and as a longtime spanish collector I would really like to be able to get them if they do rerelease G2

Man I will be a happy little dude if they bring back gen 2. I lost my ENTIRE childhood collection in a flood that happened back in 2012. The only one that survived was my mail order kiwi bird. I actually still have them! But it would be amazing to get to collect again.
Of course I'd prefer Hasbro LPS but I do really like the original Kenner LPS . I had only one that a family friend gave me and I loved that thing. I'm honestly probably just going to be happy to see LPS in the store again baha

I’m glad you are being completely honest about what has been going on because some of the other TH-camrs have set really high hopes about what is to come .. my fingers are crossed about G2 lps because when I was a kid I was collecting the 2012 pets. I would really love to feel the excitement of taking the G2 designs off the shelves ..

if they do bring back gen 2 LPS i hope that they expand on them rather than just making the same ones (though it would be just as fine if the didn't). for example, making some Lps that exist in the newer gens into the old ones like the pufferfish/moose/sloth or even from other older gens like grasshopper or gazelle. other thing that they could do is make more molds like how they had few different molds for bears, i would love to see a sitting walrus like in the newest gen be implemented into the gen 2. they could also just make more lps with new designs on molds which dont have many designs like ants or otters or wolves. these are just few ideas that would be perfect but i am happy either way that they haven't discontinued LPS cause even if gen 2 is best i still love the newer gen and would rather have any lps gen than none.

Honestly I think they might bring back both. If you're looking at it from a customer perspective, there is double the amount of people it can go to - the ones who grew up with gen 1 and then the collectors of gen 2. It would be smart to bring back both

I was introduced to LPS from the show, so I didn’t actually know that it was a brand before that, but man am I EXCITED for these!
The fact that they put so much effort into describing both G1 and G2 makes me reasonably hopeful that they'll bring back toys of both eras. I'm an elder millennial who loved the G1s in my childhood so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those get made, but it'd be a real shame not to do the G2 toys as well.
I have my hopes in either both or g2 because i feel like they KNOW they would miss out on so much money 💔

I totally need the old(G2) LPS back. They were always so cute. I have a few, but I can't find them SO I NEED THEM.
I really hope they do a g2 reboot, i gave my lps collection away in my late teens thinking i wouldn't miss them and i still regret it lol. And yeah i could order them back online, i did do that before but ended up getting fakes which are still cute but i wish they were real lol. And building up my collection up again to 300 plus authentic pets would be expensive not to mention. So hopefully we can get them in stores again. c:

The Kenner LPS are definitely cool, but if they do bring back the generation 2 pets I’m hoping they will have new molds, or maybe won’t be rereleases of old ones, since the value of them would plummet if they came back. Though if the Kenner ones come back I don’t think I’m going to buy them, but I definitely would love to get some g2 LPS if they come back!

I had lps in my collection going as far back as from 2005, they were the one toy growing up everyone knew I would love no matter what. I don’t know exactly how many I had but I had a whole separate drawer storage unit for all of my pets and their accessories. My stepmom made me give them all away just before the pandemic because I was “too old for them” and “only wanted to keep them because she was making me give them away.” I regret not fighting harder for them every day.
i was really hoping something like this would happen!! i kept thinking how it would seriously benifit habro and collectors if gen 2 got a re release and i'm so glad to see this may finally be happening :0 i really hope they put thier focus towards gen 2 rather than the kenner toys. the kenner ones are cool but just not what most of us are really looking for. either way, knowing lps is getting new stuff makes me so exited!!
I’ve been thinking the same thing to be honest, seeing everyone talk about them “going to bring back G2” just made me think about how basic fun hasn’t really brought much back from that time period. However, only time will tell, and I’m still super hyped for the new LPS

I'm on the fence about this. I'm happy that G2 LPS might be making a return, but I also don't know how to feel about old designs being re-released, decreasing the value of G2 LPS. I'm cautiously optimistic, and I know I'll buy new LPS if I see them in stores.
I get that but at the same time, the market for G2 pets is so inflated and filled with fakes that are being labeled as authentic.

I love basic fun toys. I have a My Little pony stranger things Applejack from them and a bunch of other remakes of My Little pony that are amazing quality. I have original 1980's My Little pony and they are really close to each other in design.
If basic fun brings back Littlest Pet shop they would bring back good quality toys like they did with all others I've had.
One thing I would love to see is more Pomeranians as they only had 2 Littlest Pet Shop ones that I know of. I looked for years to find a Pomeranian one and found only 2. Yes I know they bring back older toys but if they make new designs for some I would like to see Pomeranians. I once had a Pomeranian and he is the reason why I love Pomeranians so much now.

That long eared bunny was my favorite as a kid. I think I may still have mine in a box but the majority of mine were thrown out over a decade ago 😱 I'd love to rebuy even just the old bunny and slap it on a shelf.

I've never clicked on a video so fast... Anyway, I'm very excited to see what Basic Fun has in store for LPS. Though we have to wait a long time, I don't mind as long as I get to go into Wal-Mart and see old LPS on the shelves. I was only around three years old when G2 LPS were in stores, so I don't remember much, but somehow it would still be very nostalgic to see the old ones in the store. I absolutely can't wait! 👍
I hope they bring back both versions. When I was a kid in the 90's, I grew up with the Kenner brand, my favorites being the Sea World line. I had Shamu, the dolphin, the walrus, and the penguins.

I saw something that implied they'd bring back gen 2. It was an article that mentioned they were going to price the toys the same as they did in 2005 I believe

I am so excited! I was too young to experience the old LPS or, as I now know, as generation 2 LPS. I only have a few that my cousin gave me when I was younger of the generation 2 LPS and by the time I was old enough to really want to play with them and get more of them, they had moved on to other generations and you couldn't find them anywhere. I am a bit too old for them now, but I am still excited because I would still buy them even if I was too old for them, because I didn't have that opportunity when I was younger. This is such exciting news! Thank you for sharing with us!
even with collectors aside, early 2000s nostalgia is kinda like a huge thing rn, so even teens who arent collectors will probably love to see g2 LPS come back
I'm 17 and never grew out of my lps phase. My bf doesn't know... I'm not too scared to tell him though. He still watches lazy town.

Good video! It's depressing how Hasbro has literally given up on making any toys. (and only making big dumb hollywood movies.) I mean this year alone they gave GI Joe to Super7 and Mego, Easy Bake Oven and Micro Machines to Just Play, and now LPS to Basic Fun. Maybe its better for the collector. Hasbro has long neglected LPS. Which is totally odd in the age of social media...you'd think they would be all about a toyline thats got a built-in cult following with its own world of influencers and content creators. LPS is begging to be the next billion dollar tik tok brand and nobody is using it properly.
