One of my buddies last Thursday cought a nice like 30lb probably at Navarre pier he was like it’s either a shark or a cobia and he through and it was a cobia
Somewhere between using a net to land them and understanding (as you've pointed out on video more than once) the big fish are the ones you want to let go. As a Florida native that grew up Fishing both coast and the keys (and worked my first job at THE Outdoor Sportsworld in WPB) I KNOW for a fact that it wasn't just the net ban that helped Snook bounce back so hard, it was getting rid of allowing one over slot fish to be kept. You've got a decent size mic in you're hand their brother, it comes with a even greater level of responsibility.
Just not the population of cobes that we used to have, all the tournaments we have from PC to Pensacola from the 80s through the early 2000s wiped them out. Need to close the season for about three years. My PB is 85lbs, seen several tubbers(100+lbs) caught by friends back in the day, now its a rarity to see a 50lb fish. Tight lines and screaming drags!
@RyanMorie I can remember seeing wads of up to 50 fish, was very common to see a dozen in a wad and would eat whatever hit the water. Back then, it was primarily jig fishing with an occasional live bait. You could no sooner come out of Pensacola pass, turn east and come off plane, jump in the tower and be on fish. Miss those days, cause like you, sight fishing cobia is definitely my favorite.
@@RyanMoriethere’s no shortage of cobia /Lemon fish where I live near Biloxi Mississippi we catch them quite regular around oil rig platforms and channel markers and other structures ya know from about 15 miles out on to 3-400 foot rigs and reefs , I like to eat them their one of my favorite fish to eat
Ryan, your videos are some of my favorite videos to watch all around. Your commentary to you having fun in the kitchen. I believe it's unmatched. But, don't get me wrong, I love a lot of TH-camrs that do some of the similar stuff that you do. But your videos just kind of feel like home. And not one channel does that same thing for me at all 💪🏼🙏🏼 much love from Indiana.
Great video Ryan! That’s why they call it fishing, luckily you did some catching. Your editing skills have really developed over time to work so well with your story telling abilities. But it’s really your cooking skills that has come a long way since the beginning of your channel. Christina might be some of the reason for this. Lol. Delicious plate of food. Thanks for sharing!!!
Wow awesome footage/angles great jacks and cool sightings looking for ling, I always enjoy Watching your videos encouraged me to get a GoPro for Navarre pier so speaking on that I never knew you’ve been this way to navarre that’s awesome then to catch a nice cobia from here is a whole other type of cool 😂, keep up the videos can’t wait to see what summer brings with the new boat and everything maybe some good tarpon footage on the way 👀
Super awesome and informative! I really believe that this is one of the only videos I've ever seen dealing with Cobia. It just seems to be one of those fish that for some reason, there's not a lot of information about them, but you definitely hear people bragging about. I've even heard that they're supposedly one of the best tasting fish in the ocean. Look, I've never caught them, in fact I, for the last 4 years haven't really been able to get out there and fish in general, but that's (hopefully) slowly coming to an end (put it this way, DISABILITY sucks!!). It's for a specific reason that when I saw it at Publix on one occasion, I absolutely had to try it. I wish that I would have seen this video at the time of when I purchased it there. I'm not sure if it was the way I prepared it, or the fact that it probably wasn't super fresh. All I know is that when I went to buy it, it said 10.99. I thought to myself, wow, that's an excellent price! However, it wasn't 10.99/lb, but 10.99per piece! And the pieces weren't really that big, but I just thought well, since I never see it maybe I should just give it a try. I think it should have waited, would have saved a lot of money for sure! Really appreciate your catch and cooks though the most. If you're still doing that a lot, you'll never lose me again. I think the reason I left the last time was because I was kind of weeding out the certain videos that were really long. But judging up on how long of a comment that I usually put out, I should talk! Lol! Anyway Ryan, thanks again. Hope to be out there on the water soon. Maybe I'll see you around, and bump into you! God bless!

Thank you for this awesome recipe. I used it on grouper for mother's Day. It was her favorite fish I have ever made.

Love the long form. Nothing better than a good, hour long fishing video. For 105k subs, this is incredible quality.
I appreciate you watching! 🍻

Ryan what rig and what bait do I use for Sebastian inlet snook this time of year
Hey Ryan! What grundens are those?
Idk, I wear a Medium, but they’re the thinner ones, not thick like most people wear
Does your buddy still make those jigs? I was looking online but really couldn’t find any like that . Or they are 8oz lol
You havent promoted the octo-jig.
where can i buy those cobia jigs
just ran into 5 whale sharks out of boca grande about 30 miles offshore and we caught tons of cobias most insaine thing Ive ever seen
That’s so epic, still dreaming of that type of encounter
I have to question this though. Why the fruit in the salad? Thats very new to me 🤨
Which filet or boning knife do you prefer thanks
Be well sleep and dream of big fish

Live bait is a kind of cheating
If that fish ate a live bait, I would agree with you

I believe it! Some crazy stuff happens with those fish
