This type of media is absolutely amazing for the preservation of gaming history. You not only show us what has been forgotten, but take the time to inform the viewer in a way that furthers our understanding and genuinely catalogues the depths of content in these games. As a freelance creative, I would kill to have you direct content and apply your unique and completely solid visual and conceptual design to other genres. Thank you for all that you have done to create an incredibly captivating, well-paced and informative series. Quite simply the best I have seen. Hoping your voice is amplified and that you continue to grow.
One thing about the Egg game is: bunmei means civilization. You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet as the saying goes. But in this case, the eggs create civilizations. Amazing concept.
I just ordered a Japanese PS1 for a handful of games but the one that drove me to do it in the first place is Robbit Mon Dieu, because Jumping Flash 2 is legit one of my all time favorite games ever. Can’t wait to try it out!
I just learned the jumping flash director made a math puzzle game for the DS called 'Make 10.' It released in Japan and PAL regions only. The game has a great style
This is one of the most interesting episodes of all the Japan Only series ! Huge variety of interesting and unique games ! Project Gaiaray seems having a very cool and dynamic gameplay for a fighter, Robbit mon Dieu looks like an interesting Jumping Flash spin-off with nice variety of missions, and EGG... the hell it's the weirdest game I've never seen in the channel xD but it looks ridicously interesting ! Psychometrer Eiji is the only game that doesn't seem interesnting, for obvious reasons, but even like in this episode the wheel provided amazingly well ! Looking for the next episode of Obscur and Forgotten games !
If you use Retroarch to emulate your games, you can set up a translate hotkey so it will put an overlay on top of the original text with a simple button combo. Should save a lot of time over pulling out your phone for each scene.
I still think it would have a been a great game to adapt over to the PSVR. Maybe it might make you a little motion sick.... but as a concept it's almost too perfect.
I literally paused the video and bought a PS1 Analog Joystick on the spot after you mentioned it was compatible with "Treasures of the Deep." I recently purchased that game as well and have access to the whole library through an X-Station to experience the other compatible titles, so I figured what the hell lol.
My favourite youtube series from my favourite youtuber Sean Seanson strikes back for another epic video 💪 You can't imagine how much I love these videos 😍
Not even 5% into your video and there's a Simpsons reference. Great stuff :D Excellent video as always. Shame that no gaijin title didn't get a fan translation as it sounds interesting.
always enjoy your videos, your reviews are engaging and funny, the edits you make with splicing in different media for jokes always brings a smile to my face. Great vids to have on all day when I draw.
18:38 I've heard there are emulators that offer built-in OCR text translation for just this purpose, and I thought that was genius. Not sure what Emulator though or if that feature works as well as Google translate...
I've tested out some stuff in the background incase we come across another game like Eiji, it works but it's VERY slow.... will be interesting to see if I can make it work in a video! But hey it's gotta happen eventually :)
A couple years ago the emulator Retroarch added an auto translation feature. I don't know how good it is or how much work is being done on it, but I feel eventually something like this will allow these untranslated games to be enjoyed on some level. Still no substitute for awesome fan translations though of course.
I watched a fun video of a german game, where somebody developed a program to translate the dialogue in real-time to English. It was very rough, but certainly the best attempt I've seen of real-time translation in a game so I imagine the feature in Retroarch is something similar. I'll keep an eye out for it in the future! Would be nice to show some of the translations on-screen during the video itself.
I mean imagine if they could create something like an augmented reality interface, say like glasses and you could ask google to translate things in real time while you wear them.. imagine that. I mean as far as AI translation goes it isnt too good right now, but hopefully some way down the line we can interact with other people and other languages seamlessly as playing japanese only releases
Yes they're both on the list, and while I havn't played them I'm a big mark for pretty much anything Technosoft puts out, so I'm looking forward to eventually getting around to them. 60fps sounds pretty tasty!
I usually try to direct people to the comments section of the update video, just so I can keep em all together. But don't worry, wherever you comment, I'll pick up on it and get it added :)
I recently subscribed to your channel and I think you're doing an amazing work. Keep up with the great videos. I would also like to submit 2 videos for the wheel but after watching the update video that you did I wasn't sure if I was supposed to comment my picks in that video specifically or not. Huh... It looks like TH-cam ate my comment. I don't know why... Anyway, I just commented that Google lens is an interesting idea for playing games with a lot of Japanese text! Also, I love and hate your videos. I love them because they're great and you're awesome. I hate them because, inevitably, there's at least one or two games that I'm just like "Oh, I need to add that to my PS Classic!" despite the fact that I have neither the time or space on my PS Classic at this point. So there's that. 😀
TH-cam has been deleting random comments a bunch lately. I get a notification then boop it's gone! Hope nobody thinks it's me doing it 😅 Google lens has been really useful, wish I tried it sooner. There's probably a better way but this is low effort on my part at least :) Aw that's positive love and hate, I love to see it! I'm sure it won't be the last games you'll need to add to your classic, so make some space for future episodes!
@@SeanSeanson Yeah, I've had it happen to me a few times, too. It's good we're on such a stable platform... I have been looking at getting an even larger thumb drive to connect to my PS Classic, partially because of your videos - and I'm already using a 256 Gb one! Look what you've done! LOOK!!! 😛

I to am a lil suspicious about JF being the first 3D platformer, but maybe thats a topic for another video some day! I do like Krautrock but it's definately not a genre I'm well versed in, outside of me listening to ALOT of Kraftwerk. Anything you would recomend checking out?
I love how the wheel nearly landed on something called "Oh No"

I wasn't expecting the Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge "power of your intellect" sample to show up in another game.
I instantly recognized it too.
