That last part where you talk about "touches are touches" just eased a lot of the anxiety i have around individual training. I get hung up on whether my training is at match intensity, whether my drills are game realistic etc. Somrtimes it psyches me out so much that i dont even train, because i feel like i dont have a perfect schedule and also don't train intensely. Almost a sort of analysis paralayis, caused by all those videos on social media Thankful for the reminder that just getting touches on a ball is beneficial. Its time to stop overthinking and become the player i was meant to be. Thank you, you have no idea how much you've cleared things up for me ❤
I used to train with the wall for an hour before training with the team. My first touch and control of a ball was like a pro. I didn't have what you young players have now with YT. This was back in the 90s. Second thing I used to do was play street ball aside from my team training. You guys have no idea how essential it is. Also remember having an extra living room. I would put shoes and whatever I could find and just dribble and dribble. One more thing, keep your head up when passing to the wall. You will make mistakes in the beginning but then you will notice how you won't need to look down at the ball but you will have vision of what's around you. I have seen so many players having a pass in front of them but don't make it because their head is down.
@@godzillaeditz5718keep that head up and know your teammates abilities. train to meet their needs. if your striker is fast and you're on wing racing, learn to curl the ball up there, learn to maybe cut back and play him a through ball off of the extra space, you're expected to make tight plays or make that space through exceptional skill (edit bc I didn't finish writing) once you have the space just look up and see what's available, and don't be afraid to try it if it looks right.
Is a wall absolutely necessary or can you get prolevel control without it? I live in such a cramped neighbourhood that any wall you may find probably belongs to someone's house lol
@@zebra7578 not really as long as you have something to bounce back the ball. But with the wall I got used to playing 1-2 touch and only dribble when necessary.
Forever the GOAT of TH-cam football training (especially individual training) and always so generous with sharing your knowledge and experience. Thanks, Matt 💚
I've been training in the garden by myself I've been finding ways to improve and I find it interesting because I can develop just like matt and different footballers I've the confidence to do it I'm really proud watching matt sheldon because he gives me confidence to be a footballer like him I've been watching his videos it very awesome I'm really proud so hopefully I will make some TH-cam videos and teach you how to be a good player in the future
what i do is i do a warm up for a cupple of minutes then i get straight into my passing word because i have a pattio garden basically i pass the ball to my flower bed the then after that i work on my crossing and corners then i get ready for shooting goals at my garden gate i pictured of it as a goal then shoot the ball at my garden gate and it actually worked sometimes i celebrated it like it went in im so Proud i will carry on with it in the future
Hey Matt, I don’t usually write comments but today I just feel like I have to. This video is amazing❤️ I think that it helped a lot people. And I just want to say a big thanks for this chanel👏
That’s pretty much what I do. The only problem with hitting the ball to the wall or rolling it on the asphalt is that you will screw your ball pretty bad
Matt I feel so unfortunate man. I started playing later in life I’m 18 already and have about 5 years worth of soccer experience and been getting better and better. But now I can’t join any leagues because my city (El paso) is small and the league ages go up to 17 and college they took off soccer from their sports club. Im planning on going to UTSA to play there because I know they play soccer. I just want to continue to play I don’t care if it’s a non profit school I just want to play for the fun of it.
My critique: 98% of time on the pitch is not spent with the ball. My personal belief is that athleticism can be refined indefinitely (by oneself) and is what wins games in the end. There is actually much more than just ball-feeling you can train by yourself. Cognition (brain speed, attention to detail, working memory, fluid intelligence) can all be trained individually. We use BrainHQ to supplement our athletes' training schedule. Also, seeing how the talents in our academy who tend to make the most gains are those with other activities on the side (playing instrument, dancing, martial art, etc.), I'd recommend anyone with enough time at their disposal to expose themselves to coordinatively difficult activities. This will strengthen the ability to learn things related to football.
No need for that, you should believe in God. But if u don't believe in God just think about how good you are before a game and loosen up your body, and don't forget to play the football you can and just enjoy the game ❤⚽️
I have a serious doubt....Is it better to have availability of football match everyday or there should be Training everyday...And by match I mean small sided 7v7 or 5v5 or 9v9 matches
The part i dont understand is like should i devote an entire to day to working n my dribbling or just 1 session every day and then do a first touch session later in the swme day

Training on your own is so important, but it’s also so essential to do it intelligently! Thanks for this video bro!

The timing of this video as I am going through a decision where I am forced to train by myself for a few months or retire...
Wow, very helpful, thank you for sharing

This is the best video I have seen for training by far. "Don't overthink it"
Hands down one of the BEST Football TH-camrs if not the best ❤️
I'm grateful for all the videos you put out on this channel Matt, tysm 🙏
I want to see you kill it in a Sunday league once you retire. I hope that's one of your first post retirement videos whenever you decide to retire
Thank you

man, you're the best football training channel on youtube (alongside oskar)
Now understand how training makes players ❤❤
What a coincidence you showed the two fields that I've played most of my games on throughout the video
Can you post a video on what exercises a footballer should be working on at the gym with a routine and schedule.
Great video!
Good stuff!
Thanks
Top quality content right there❤

A big reason I stopped using a wall. Also, neighbours were complaining
I've heard about something called Nike Street Akka balls, they seem o be cheaper and supposedly made to withstand asphalt, anyone here with expeience?
@@MosstafaSalehno but sounds interesting. Thank you I will check this out.
Another great video Matt! Thank you so much!
Hey Matt, could you please do a video on advanced juggling variations such as low to high juggling?
7mlc has one called 1000 touch workout. The juggling drills are in there.
This is amazing man 😊👍🏿
Very useful and great video!!! Keep it up!!⚽😎
much needed. Thanks❤
Whoa I work for a parks department in Oregon and one of the places you practice at looks exactly like one of our facilities. Nice video!
It probably is! I’m from Portland and head back there to train in offseason all the time.

I was already doing all this somehow before without knowing it.And trust me I am a really good player

Good to see PCC Rock Creek lol
How do you replicate game speed, your team formations, and opponent style???
You should do a collab with 7mlc, he also lives in the US

First imma winger who else?
So If I train like this, thats the equivalent of training with a pro team? I mean not premier league..any pro team, any tier
saddest day in the world is when Ronaldo, Messi, and Matt retire
Just 11 by 8 meter area no cones only chairs and a wall for goal 😂
Well I have a area of 30 meter length for shoting but if I miss the ball will came to my head😂
Because it's a type Hall
Or you can say corridor
