  • One of the best opportunities to see the forces of nature at their most powerful is found just off the Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper. Mistaya Canyon has been carved over thousands of years by a rushing river that flows down from Peyto Lake. There’s a 1.8 km trail here which loops around and right across the canyon. A gorge is defined as a deep, narrow valley with steep sides, usually formed by a river or stream cutting through hard rock. This canyon is a textbook definition as it funnels ALOT of water in a very small area moving water from half a dozen lakes into the North Saskatchewan river.
    Distance: 1 km round trip
    Difficulty: Easy
    Elevation Gain: 60 m
Surface: Dirt with exposed rocks and roots
    Trail Type: Out and back
Trailhead: The Mistaya Canyon parking lot, on the west side of the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93). The lot is 5.2 km south of the David Thompson Highway junction.
A must-see location in Banff National Park.

This is actually inside Alberta but most of my videos are taken within 50km of the Alberta / BC border. Also have a few videos that we cross the continental divide during our hikes.

@@MiamiTee also I think there’s a lot of bloggers than make videos of places they visit for a week & don’t actually know much about the places they go to. This is +5 years of visiting these areas weekly.

I know I've said it before Eric, but your production value is excellent. Looking forward to watching this with my wife. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks man, that one was short & sweet. I'm being a bit overwhelmed with recorded & trying to stick with the 2 shorts & 1 long video every week but I love doing the work so I keep on grinding! Peace out

@@EricTremblayAdventures I hear some creators get burnout; make sure not to get to that point 🙂

Love your videos, any tips for starting solo hikers like me?

Thank you! Solo hiking...mmm. I would say start on busier areas so you're not really alone. Always have your inReach & maps on your phone & batteries to charge them. Loud yells often to make animals aware of your presence. Drink more water than you need & always take the safer route when you're solo. Peace out!
