We have such similar book tastes and this is one of my favorite books of all time so I’ve been waiting for you to read it and hear your thoughts! I’m so happy you loved it the way I did!!!
Your book recommendations have been 🔥 lately! Looking forward to reading this one. Over the weekend, I read your other recommendations: "Survive The Night" and "Better Than The Movies". I really enjoyed them... especially "Better Than The Movies". 👏
Omg when I saw your tik tok and when I saw this video on my notifications… I knew I had to click on it. I was literally so excited!!! Normal People to me is one those books you can find in lifetime like any book but THE book that speaks to people -such as myself- in ways that reflects is such a rarity. Like of course, nothing wrong with fiction when it steers away from that reality but like you said there’s pattern that most books fall on. Like girl seriously I could go on and on, but what you said is literally ME when I read it a while back. Those books that make you think about life, such like a realistic romance like this, is honestly one of the best kind to be honest. Also for recommendations: Note: I actually have never read another book like Normal people but I did search up like it in youtube (the TH-camr: MercysBookishMusings ) -Tender by Belinda McKeon -acts of desperation by Megan Nolan (Those are a few that are turly Normal People alike books, there’s others I missed since I didn’t fully read all of Sally Rooney’s books and also I just didn’t really finish the video since I recently found it 😅😂) But I just wanted to let you know!!! Anyways thanks as always for your videos, you already know if you remembered me commenting awhile back but your videos is one of the good things I always come back to!!! Love you and your content as always, can’t wait for the next one.
I love this book! And I totally agree, lately every romance novel is somehow identical to the last one! Ps. All too well is the perfect soundtrack for Marianne and Connell!
Glad you loved it Nikki. I read it earlier this year and did not like it at all. I remember loving Sally Rooney’s writing style but the story kept going downward after high school… like there were so many communication issues between the main characters… I absolutely did not want to finish it but pushed through and the ending too was not redeeming 😭😭
@servedinawinkphotography wow I can't believe it's been ages since I read the book and still haven't checked out the show! Might have to watch it sometime during the holidays; thanks for reminding💫
The romance community is getting into literary fiction and I’m here for it! I did it the other way around: went from lit fic to romance cause lit fic had become all the same, so I totally get what you’re saying! Sally Rooney is amazing, my favorite is Conversations with friends. Welcome to your lit fic era!
Other recommendations: - Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams - My year of rest and relaxation by Otessa Moshfegh - Such a fun age by Kiley Reid - Animal by Lisa Taddeo (but very very dark) - Less by Andrew Sean Greer - Girl, woman, other by Bernardine Evaristo
I would have been fine with it if there was a follow up book, a sequel, to continue the story. I want to know what happened after the ending. This book just reiterated why I prefer to read book series.
Really loved this book but now I don't know what to read next that will live up to it.. any suggestions? Taking a close look at Alone With You in the Ether but not too sure!
You should read (kafka on the shore ) you will gonna love it , And i am living for the day when I get a notification from my TH-cam of you doing a review for it ❤love you keep going ❤❤
I think, I especially like this book, because these characters and their actions/behaviours are not perfect. Maybe not even always “logical”? I can just relate, doing things, that may not always make sense to others (or even to myself)… Being filled with fear of I don’t even know what. Just normal people, navigating their life in a unique way, just like we all do!! We just tag along a small episode of Marianne and Connels life. It’s like the book is telling me: everything is fine. We’re all just humans While also touching important themes on the go of course (mental health, relationships, etc etc..) Am just trying to explain, why I like this book or why some might not like it Idk I just finished and still don’t think I 100% understood haha But I just agree with every point you mentioned (especially it being raw! And 11:32 an on ahhh)
I want to read this book and watch the show so bad (I mean.. Paul Mescal 💖 and Daisy Jones ) but I'm not courageous enough 😅😭 I don't want to cry my eyes out.. also, I hate open endings. Like seriously, end the damn thing you started! I don't want interpretations, I want an end! 😜
Yay! And, yes, I will absolutely be reading Boys Of Tommen and am so excited about it. I’ve just been a little scared to commit to such a long intense series, but I’m going to!
I found myself SO frustrated by the back and forth. Marianne was so used by everyone and she just let people walk in and out of her life. The ending really upset me that it concluded so so open ended.
Am I the only person who wasn’t rooting for them at all? She was his dirty little secret in high school. She tells him about her awful family and he STILL makes her feel like all she deserves is to be this casual secret. Even his mum confronts him for using her. He then resents her for moving on to other people and experiences in college, he’s jealous of her success.. I don’t understand at all why people are reading this like ‘but they love each other.’ I’m hating this book so much for the pure fact that she STILL allows him to stay in her orbit. I’m 2/3 in.
Definitely agree that books just all seem the same anymore 🥲. Been in such a slump and have been DNFing like crazy. Adding this to by list! Currently reading The Summer We Fell!

The show is absolutely perfect
I read this book based on your recommendation and I devoured it!! I absolutely loved it!! Great recommendation! Can’t wait to start the TV show!
Really loved this book but now I don't know what to read next that will live up to it.. any suggestions? Taking a close look at Alone With You in the Ether but not too sure!
I had such a love/hate relationship with this book, but I will say the book was only following their lives 4 years time... not 5-10 years lol.
You should read (kafka on the shore ) you will gonna love it ,

If this book is not on my tbr , it is now !
Nikki would you ever read Boys Of Tommen by Chloe Walsh and review ?
Yay! And, yes, I will absolutely be reading Boys Of Tommen and am so excited about it. I’ve just been a little scared to commit to such a long intense series, but I’m going to!
@@nikkisbooknook I look forward to your reviews ! The books are thick as hell but l can’t wait to dive into them myself .

Ok im super confused book worth it or just show.

I didn't enjoy normal people that much to me it's one of the worst books I've read this year
Welp sorry to hear that 😅😅 it’s definitely a love or hate book
@@nikkisbooknook yeah it is

Nope, they wasted each other's time.
Actually I think I’ll be the last one 😂 I still have to secure it from the store 🥲
Never too late!

I have DNF’d so many books in the last three months it isn’t funny. So I feel you! I loved The Summer We Fell though!
