    Good video. I used much of what you posted in this video and a LOT more when I set up comms in the Army. I created antennas for HF comms all throughout the middle east and the military manuals were the reason I could do it. I studied for months before I depoloyed and it paid off. I downloaded several TB's of Army and DoD comms Field Manuals and they were more valuable than gold during my deployment. Start searching online for the military manuals and you will find some amazing material without all the BS you get from the civilian side.

    Yes, I have them! Great reference material. There are a lot more antenna manuals out there also. I have a lot of them. Some of the older ARRL antenna books are available as well as some old 73 Magazine publications. I find these older manuals even more practical than some of the new ones. The text book that I used in college for my Radio Wave Propagation course is also available for free!

    Brilliant! Thank you so much! I build my own antennas, Baluns, Ununs, loading coils, etc. The great thing about military antenna books is that they give you easy to set up antennas and really basic math for calculations. I've done a deep dive into the ARRL Antenna Book, but sometimes you have to read five pages just to get an answer that could be given in two sentences! The antennas I build allow me to use my Xeigu G90 and get everywhere around the world with 59s and I'm able to get though pile-ups clearly. I'm going to have fun with these books. Thanks for all you hard work and efforts with your channel,,,73,,,Hugh...KN6KNB

    i helped our Radio operator build a Jungle Antenna when i was in Panama in 1981 doing jungle training with the Army Rangers. I now have built a 1/4 wave, 2-meter version of the same antenna. It has 0 gain but still works will and can very Easlybe put in a backpack and carried. (light weight)

    I'm actually the guy who wrote those manuals. Well, not those particular manuals but I wrote some other ones. The ones I wrote weren't really manuals per se; they were more like notes I jotted down in my notebook, and they weren't about antennas. What I wrote was actually a grocery list, or more accurately, a partial grocery list... I wrote the word 'skittles'. So, yea..

    I love your statement: “Instead of digging each other in the grave, maybe we should build each other up. DO BETTER, as I frequently see in my comments. If you don't have a solution to the problem, you are the problem.” There are some folks whose entire goal in life is to be a thorn in someone else’s side.

    Hi
    First I want to appreciate your time and great videos. I would like to have your advice on Retevis RA89 and Tidradio H8 as far as quality, power and range. It is a tough decision since there is not any review for comparison of these radios.
    I will greatly appreciate the time and your response.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure. Before I do, have you seen my videos on the TDH8 and the RA89? If not, I will make some playlists and get you some links. Thanks!

    • @MoMoSha87
      @MoMoSha87 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HAMRADIODUDE Thank you for your response >Yes I have watched the videos, as far as I have discovered seems the TD-H8 is made by Retevis but lower end of their product. (I might be mistaken, please correct me if I'm wrong) There are so many videos for TD-H8 compared to RA89 and I never watched any review for Range test of RA89. There are few in Russian which I used the caption translator to understand their reviews and I am very impressed with the range and spec of RA89. It is very important to me to have an opinion from an expert like you before hitting the purchase button. I am also doing some research and for New NR30S and NR630s, but unfortunately there are 2 or 3 short videos for them. Again I truly appreciate your response and opinions.
      Thanks🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    Agree completely! Sadly many who live in the internet realm and may be technically gifted lack social skills and grace with communications. I deal with them frequently in running nets and try to just picture them as the 40 year old virgins they likely are with hairy palms and personalities only a mother could love. The image makes me laugh as they ramble on in their critical comments.
    As a formally trained military electronics tech you honor us all for the trusted value these manuals bring. Great video! Kd9uqe
