standing still in the providence bossfight is actually crazy
The game never really punished him for doing it because he kept getting tank items (Double Knurl, multiple Infusions and Leeching Seeds, Double Repulsion Armor etc) but in the end, DF "got complacent" and tried to facetank the boss' third phase attack.
He almost did it too
@@songofthieves he says at the start "he's already pretty strong thanks to us being able to adjust our stats" so i guess he is not taking 100% dmg from the start

@@Malanu00 100%, in fact at his death screen where it shows damage dealt and taken it has a weird gap after "Damage taken" and "Damage dealt" before the : like "Damage taken :", usually the game tells you what modifications you were using there, damage can go up to 200% and damage can go down to 10%, but it looks like the editor decided to censor it out? Weird cause they included DF mentioning that he boosted his stats but also did not show him doing that, it's just weird, cause I love the game and I wouldn't be judging, being OP is more entertaining for the video.
@@rumpelstiltskin6150 hopoo games also encourages playing the way you wanna play by making achievements unlockable even when modding.
He mentioned shotgun and the rest of my thoughts during this was "I hope he unlocks the Enforcer on that run". Keep playing this DF and do a run with Enforcer when you get him!

That or gets Commando's shotgun, he definitely unlocked Bandit so trials would be available and it's what you get from the very first one

@@spooky1436 saw him next to the shine of chance and he seemed really small so thats just what I thought. Went back into the game and looked at it with mercenary and these characters just look like some tiny little dudes

fun fact, it was in Risk of Rain 2013/the one made in game maker. paired with the Artifact of Glass, the fact each kill was 1+ max HP got out of hand quick and rapidly negated the downside of the artifact. in Returns, Glass now affects how Infusion works, effectively balancing the item properly enough.
Risk Of Rain Returns actually is also made in game maker! They went back to their roots.
Artifact of glass now works like it does in risk of rain 2, reducing your TOTAL HP %. So you need 10x the infusions to get a few HP.
Max health is overrated in RoR 1, the damage scaling outpaces infusion gains. Unless you have more than one infusion, you will be getting a lot of damage for very silly reasons if you play in any difficulty other than drizzle that will make the extra hp meaningless.
@@cross6781 it still kept you alive long enough to get those glass builds online with no risk.

Tip: activate the teleporter once you see it
You still get money and you can still open chests
You save a valuable amount of time if you start the teleporter event right away
I wish the game devs had put in that as soon as you activate the teleporter, all chests and shrines dont work.

He plays a millions games, each one with their own fanbases that know the game inside out. This scenario is unavoidable.
The final boss during some of his stages will summon an attack that shows a black skull, and if you get hit by them it just instakills you, so being completely stationary is what got you there.
Correction: it is not an instant kill, but it WILL cause your health to drop to dangerously low values. Even if you max your health via infusion all the way to 9999 it will plummet to critical levels.

Damn, Risk of Rain 2 has been THE Risk of Rain for sk long that I completely forgot this was a thing. I just realized what was going on when I saw the timer on the top right.

Glad to see DF got to providence without even knowing what he was doing, while I can't even get past 3rd level even though I know what the items actually do. Lmao
To be fair, he had handicaps enabled, he mentioned it right at the start and in his score screen (for the 2 frames it's visible behind his achievements) it's censored out where it says he's playing with boosted stats.
No judgement, just weird that the editor decided to obscure it when DF was openly referring to it right at the start.

Only DF would somehow randomly make a build thats so tanky he can literally stand still in groups of enemies ACCIDENTALLY.

Df’s is so soothing that he puts me to sleep when I watch his vids at night

that final boss sure was a final boss... taking single digit damage the whole first two phases only to get one shot by a single attack the next phase
To be fair, the attack was extremely telegraphed with many small target reticles all sitting on top of him. The attack is fairly easy to dodge with just a little movement.
I never expected my favorite series and my favorite eldritch chaos monster to cross paths, but here we are.

Him almost beating Returns FIRST TRY was absolutely insane given how much harder it is than RoR2
I think he probably changed the settings so he takes less damage, he was surviving in a lot of scenarios that by all means should've shredded him

Honestly it's hilarious to watch DF play RoRR on like 1x zoom scale when I play on 3+.
Been playing Risk of Rain Return recently, and got to say...
It's an amazing rouge-like platform shooting game.
You should try playing Zumbi Blocks 2 (its a free steam game) as you defeat the bosses they unlock more things for you to start the game with and its similar to this game in that it gets more difficult the longer youre alive.

As a Risk of Rain 1 fan I disliked how just about every major ror2 player either ignored or had never played it, so seeing Returns get so popular is super cool to see! Since you mentioned wanting shotguns, there are two you can get. Either unlock the survivor for beating a magma worm, colossus, and vagrant, or do the first providence trial for one on Commando
200% damage and 10% enemy damage modifier is fun isn't it? Not saying it was a bad choice because he did say altered stats at the beginning. But it REALLY is fun to play with adjusted stats.
I noticed that too. I'm not sure he actually turned his damage up to 200% but his damage taken was _definitely_ heavily reduced.

Are you still able to unlock things that way?
Yeah, it doesn’t affect any unlocks. But you can’t use it in trials.
@@DigitalWolverine yes you can use it to unlock stuff. You can put yourself at 200% and 10% in fact I have done that for some of the more annoying unlocks in the game for items and the like. But it doesn't affect trials at all that is correct.

With those upgrades making you almost unkillable was kinda expecting main boss to do one-hit-kill attack similar to that in Dungreed, with demon boss.

hell of a first run... one may think this game is easy after watching this. You could even stand in place and tank everything on last levels.

Nope, in fact this game was released as a remake on the originals 10th anniversary. It was massively successful and popular and it's POSSIBLE that the domekeeper art was inspired, or just similar.
