- The Bears are back in town!
A quick recap: Bear Simone, whom I've known since she was a cub, started bringing her first ever cubs Milo and Luca for short visits to my porch last year, mostly in the hope of scoring some birdseed.
Here they are again, after their long winter nap has finally ended. Everyone looks healthy, playful, and curious as ever. I'm pretty sure this won't be the last we see of them. Stay tuned!
Maybe it's just me but they seemed genuinely happy to be back and just hang out for a while.

It’s amazing that she trusts you so much! How she actually walks off and let’s her babies walk up to visit you unattended is such a gift!!!
We had an experience like that with wild possums when I was a kid. Our balcony was a dominant female's territory. She got fruit snacks from us. It was HER spot and she defended it. When she had babies, as soon as they were large enough, she would leave the babies with us and go off and fight off the other possums trying to encroach on her territory unencumbered with little ones. At one point she got a serious injury (probably a dog bite) and she let my mother treat the wound. They are not dumb most of these animals, they learn who their friends are. Just have to remember that they are wild animals and have powerful ways of defending themselves. Always treat with calm respect.

How cute! Cubs are practicing there "scary bear" act. I'm glad you understand that and stayed calm. They practice there bluff charge and you just laughed. Adorable trouble makers. Simone is looking for a babysitter, she has had enough😁

My blood pressure has been extremely high the past few days just an hour or so of watching these bears seems to have brought it down very calming to watch
They came to play with you!!! Simone told them, "Go play with Uncle Patrick!" And she showed you that it was play time. What a blessing to have your heart attached to theirs! After today's video you posted, I'm sure that was Luca coming back 'home" to their safe happy place!

They've gone from innocent toddlers into mischievous pre-teens. All that "no" reminds me of raising my daughter. She had to touch everything!

She and the cubs look great. She didn't bat and eye when you scolded the cubs, pretty amazing especially considering she hasn't seen you all winter. I'm glad to see that everyone made it through the winter and look forward to more summer vacation home movies!

I was worried when only one of the “cubs” was following Simone at first.
What a great success, Patrick! The family visited you! I would swear that the cub on the porch knew that you were scolding him, not threatening him. I think the cubs remember you - especially after getting your scent up close.

They remember Patrick AND they respect him - while testing a little bit, if it is okay for him, when they do their "bear-things".

@@lauraj.4054 - Well put! I agree. I think Milo in particular is testing limits. I think Milo is a gentle bear with good intentions, but he’s a juvenile, so he’s testing to see what is acceptable and what isn’t.
These kiddos are so adorable and they have gotten so BIG! The grandkids have come to visit, eat and leave😀😀. Mama Simone is keeping that eye though!

I used to follow a bear family on another channel and when the cubs grew up and left, I was so heartbroken I couldn’t watch the channel again.

Is the first cub to come close to you Milo? Sure was "talking" to you today. Loved the sound. I think the cubs were checking to see if you were as firm with limits and boundaries after hibernation as before it. And they got their answer. Yes, Uncle Patrick is still loving, but firm with the same limits and boundaries. So heartwarming that they still feel comfortable and safe getting close to you, but still are cautious as they should be. And amazing to see that your vocal discipline of the cubs did not make Simone think of you as a threat. Shows she trusts you a lot and respects you. She looks so healthy and beautiful.

Wild animals have a way of showing their separate personalities!! They remember where it is safe to check things out. Boundaries are important so they do not get carried away; at least while you are sitting there! Great experience to watch!

Your relationship with these bears amazes me. I tense every time they come right up to you. They are beautiful creatures but, there are 3 of them.
Oh, my the cubs are just HUGE! And technically still 'babies' according to the calendar. Clearly Simone continues to take excellent care of them. A little shyness that leads to a healthy fear of humans does show respect, and that is a GOOD thing!

OMg, Milo and Luca have gotten SO big over their long winter's nap! It's so precious how the one cub is still so shy, and Simone is just happy as a lark grazing in the yard and dreaming of fresh berries and veggies. I can't get enough of these videos, and I'm literally just on the other side of the mountain here in Tennessee, but I haven't seen a single bear this year as of yet. I barely have any bunnies in my back yard this year so far, and I usually have at least 8 or so by now.
The good Lord has given the bears a safe place with nice lush green grass on your property so you can watch over them while they play. You have clearly been blessed. They will never forget you...generations will keep coming around....they feel safe ❤️🐻

honestly the way they play on the grass shows they love being in your company, they feel safe in your yard its amazing that simone pretty much see's you as one of the gang. Simone clearly has a bond with you which has passed over to her cubs

11 months ago it was "omg Simone bought the cubs!' and today, yet again. I feel stupid for saying "What a change" but they are enormous compared to last year. I love that you let them be curious, because that nose to camera action is such a joy. That they are still wary of your touch is excellent. I love their furry faces and that by having them on the porch you have given Simone some well deserved down time. It must be hard with two rambunctious chillun, eternaly hungry, roistering after semi hibernation. Thanks for the uploade Patrick, hope your and your family are doing well, and looking forward to spring and summer. We are bedding down here, in Aus, for the winter, but your future videos will be a simple joy. Thanks in advance.

We had a huge cinnamon bear come through our place here in the Southern California mountains 3 weeks ago and I thought oh Patrick should be posting videos soon. So YAY, love seeing these guys and mama. Hope family breakup isn’t too hard on Milo and Luca. 💙

She’s known him since she was a cub and he’s never done anything to make her think he’s dangerous that’s probably why. It’s really cute but also reminds us time is passing by and that’s a little sad
