However, we have to make the warning signs crystal clear to the young people. These are not their friends, they are all strangers. My mom is a hospital supervisor and her day supervisor’s daughter was taken by a man from the internet posing as a 14 year old. By the grace of God, they retrieved her seven hours later (in the biggest mall here where she managed to escape him and hide in a clothes rack until an employee found her freaked out).
Amen! All children but social media site have age requirements and soo many parents allow kids to have it anyway bc all the other kids do. And while the age of 14 doesn’t mean they are safe it has given them and parents time to learn and work towards safety and openness between them. I know it’s supposed to be ok for kids to have privacy but not on social media until they are adults and that doesn’t protect them. Be vigilant for your kids and your friends kids. Parents speak up when you question something, even if your kids will be mad, upset at the end of the day better safe than sorry.
