Why isn't Skylar Grey more popular? She has such a beautiful voice. It's sweet, haunting and calming at the same time!
Thats because people don't want a pure and beautiful songs like this but a loud music
She has stated she doesn't want fame and popularity. She purposefully stays underground
@@thepoet9253 Now I admire her more. I'm so inspired by her 🤩🤩🤩
Because she has a gift that she chooses to sell and make a better life for herself. Don't hate the player hate the game.
because there are shittons of singer with beautiful voice and it's not enough to make you having success.
I will be 73 in 2 weeks how come I just now found out about this girl's angelic voice? Fabulous!
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉
Life hit me in the gut today, full send. Idk why but this song lets me calm down, especially this version. Everybody who reads this: god bless you
I'm leaving this comment here so after a month or a year when someone likes it, I get reminded of this song
*ping* 😅
Friendly reminder, friend
Great track
❤
I reminding you again
I've been a Skylar Grey fan for 6 years now and can't see myself ever not being one. This kind of voice and writing talent doesn't come along very often, and she effortlessly showcases that in every performance. This is beautiful.
Were you ever a Holly Brook fan?
About 13 years for me.
This isn't her writing. It's Rihanna's song and Skylar did cover. Although this one's beautiful too.
@@UtsavUpadhyay Got it backwards there, buddy. Holly Hafermann (who is Holly Brook/Skylar Grey) is the credited songwriter.
she's such an amazing songwriter. her singing always gives me chills and tears
You can't imagine how your voice makes one feel. Never.
And I can't ever explain.
Unbelievable.
Liverpool it feels like help, a safe place to hide
Lyrics:
On the first page of our story
The future seemed so bright
Then the saint turned out so evil
I don't know why I'm still surprised
Even angels have their wicked schemes
And you take that to new extremes
But you'll always be my hero
Even though you've lost your mind
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Now there's gravel in our voices
Glasses shattered from the fight
In this tug of war you always win
Even when I'm right
Cos you feed me fables from your head
With violent words and empty threats
And it's sick that all these battles are what keeps me satisfied
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
So maybe I'm a masochist
I try to run but I don't wanna ever leave
Til the walls are going up
In smoke with all our memories
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I was a combat medic in the army. I know those dreams...
🎉❤
Every word she sings touches the loneliness that has been stored for a long time
So true.. Also, its good to see there are still people that can comment on a video without trying to get likes on a comment by spouting garbage out of their mouth and telling us we are loved
I just hear a poetic way of saying " hey asshole! just keep fucking me like that and we are all good. "
Hey, you. Whoever reading this, this is your sign. Everything's gonna be okay. You did not come this far to give up. I believe in you
Thank you
You're beautiful!
Thank you, I really need this massage 👌🏻
Thanks!❤
Thank you for your kind words
Definitely and unfortunately one of the most underrated artists out there.

her talent isn't for sale} you can make money with your talent} and you can sell yourself/soul, in exchange for money and fame
Her voice is a definition of sweet haunting and calming at the same time I've got goosebumps all over my body and I'm a grown-ass man 😂
The way she sings this song puts her in the top 5 raw talent voices in music.
She also writes these songs. She is an incredible talent.
As a songwriter myself, I understand it just takes something different to come up with lyrics and melody like this.

In my world, there's not much that comes close to her voice. This is plain beautiful! Perfection sounds like this. ❤️
Her pain is real
There’s has only been Christina grimme(rip) and now skylark greys voice that gives me full body goose bumps. Amazing
Skylar, this is so so beautiful, I realise you've got a legacy that has to be worked around, but this kind of stuff needs to be on record, it's too beautiful, and it needs to be under your name.
Well…technically, it IS under her name, but not many people know that. While RiRi is AMAZING, very few people know the truth behind this song and the first version. Look up Skylar Grey 🖤
“Love the Way You Lie" and "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" were based on a demo written and recorded in late 2009 by Grey. Grey said "I wrote the demo initially for myself because I thought, 'Oh, I have this big song, and now I have a little bit of a launching pad to put out my own stuff." Grey continued to discuss how the song was ultimately included on Loud, saying "As soon as Rihanna and her team heard my demo, they were like, 'Oh we want it for Rihanna's album,' so I had to make the decision if I was going to let them have it or not. FEED me fables, not feel.
It's like watching an angel who's lost her wings...
(*side note: such a beautiful performance! The set, the song, the tone, it all contributed artistically to express that feeling..)
Most heart touching way of bringing out the word "Love the way u lie" and her voice has a childish innocence!
Just a naturally wonderful voice.
It's like she's not even trying but sounds so pure and real.
Someone who truly feels the song as opposed to someone who tries to make it sound good.
This struggle of live. .

I've been listening to this song almost everyday. For me, this is not just a song, but a story, a scream, and a cry. I understood her from the words of the song but i felt it through her voice and it brought comfort. She becomes more beautiful every time she sings. You can feel her passion in every word she sings in this beautiful song.
Her tattoo's are not just for art, but an expression and a message of what she feels but is misunderstood. She wants to express herself and be appreciated for her faithfulness to her craft. I have been there, but in a way, as i was getting older and more mature, i accepted that the world is "unfair" and by the end of the day, you dont really need somebody or someone. You need to love yourself first and give it to others without conditions. I treated my craft like my children, i will give it all the love that i can give and wouldnt really expect anything in return.
Thank you for a very beautiful song. In a way, i gave up my love for writing a long time ago and forgot to express myself through words in exchange for a more stable livelihood. One thing i understand in this lifetime though, what made humanity survive, be stronger, and prosper is because of the narratives and the story and songs that keep us inspired and hopeful. *my apologies for some wrong grammar, english is not my first language.
No matter how much time passes, the feelings and memories of old friends and moments brought by these songs never goes away. music is truly a gift that keeps on giving😘
I love this song! It brings me so much peace and your voice is beautiful!

For real shes so underrated and her voice is so amazing and she has such a chill vibe and she brings a lot of different genres into her songs and omg I'm obsessed
She's AMAZING OMG her voice so beautiful and distinctive
wowsers, just heard Skylar Grey for the first time, what a voice!
True authentic talent. The story behind how she cowrote a piece of musical magic, is a tribute to how musical expression is a powerful motivation.
Everyone should stop comparing her with Rihanna and just compliment Skylar on her amazing voice there's no need for comparisons she's a amazing singer and that's that.
Robbin K Ruiz 👍
Well said
my sentiments exactly
Agree 200%👍
That's a nice idea but she is singing a song made famous by Rihanna. Comparison will be made but can be appreciated instead of dismissed.
Skylar grey delivers a pained emotion to this song, while with Rihanna it gives you a Feeling of brokenness
Just my opinion
diana dagondon that kid who shot up the school in Florida liked this song
to be honest when Rihanna sings these kinds of songs, I can't really hear or feel emotion from her.
Exactly

Her voice is so clean and beautiful. I love it!
I like both versions. This is obviously the original artist. This is beautiful just like the performer. Amazing job

Skylar is the one who wrote the song. Except for the rap part, Eminem wrote it.
Yeah I think Skyler wrote it but Rihanna is also famous for singing it, but I'm not certain cause I found that info online.

I like this the best! It has emotion in it and it’s more powerful: love her voice and stage presence. I have listened to all versions and I cannot feel the other ones by others- the is the real one to me and lovely!
Pain is the only we have understand
@@gmandersonjr 🤔 Huh? IDK what u meant by ur comment about ‘pain’. To me it’s a really well done 👍 performance by Skylar Grey and this beautiful song! I don’t feel like it’s intended to evoke the feelings that you eluded to, but perhaps it’s just my own interpretation.
@@elainemeyer5062 It is evident in her voice that she has experienced pain- you can't fake emotional trauma. I know as an army combat medic.
@@gmandersonjr That’s definitely something you can honestly relate to then - it must have been difficult, and sad 😢 to see what you did. And, yes, it can usually be seen/heard in someone’s voice when they’ve been thru some type of emotional trauma or pain - but it’s also rather sad in a way that it’s one of the reasons WHY they are so good. Take Eric Clapton for example - losing his young son from falling to his death out of a window in a NYC high rise apartment. I think this had a large influence on some of his 🎤 🎸 playing AFTER this happened. Many others were on drugs and then got clean (Beth Hart for one), abused alcohol, after which they too performed differently than before. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s seems much more apparent when these people are songwriters and/or vocalists vs only instrumentalists 🤔.

She wrote this song and rihanna gets all the credit for it. Skylar deserve sooo much better in this world
Am so speechless..... Actually I'm move to tears...
This is wonderful, absolute perfection.... Gosh how can one be so talented 😯
Every word is clear she takes to a whole another world, she delivers a story not a song.
I love you Skylar. Thank you for the music. You are a blessing in my world.
Her voice is so amazing in every song
Wow..cant believe i just knew this in 2020. I see elegance, pain and beauty in her voice, and her tattoos are pretty too 😭
Every time she said "I love the way you lie" i was waiting for I know how it feels like.
My ears are used to that. I'm glad i came here.
lol
She sounds so beautiful I like the live version of part 3 it displays how beautiful she can truly sing this is pure heart shine and don't let go Skyler
I like the way her dress is draped on the floor like that, with part of her leg showing it makes her look even more beautiful, and elegant. She truly is a talented artist.
How could anyone have so many feelings in her voice?!
I have goosebumps instantly!
Same. This song & her voice singing it gives me chills
Her voice is mesmerizing ☺️
Her voice is completely different, out of this world....!!!!!!
She's so damn amazing. And this song...like it was written about my relationship with my children's mother. I loved her but I'm not a good person. I would cheat on her, argue, never physically hurt her but the things I said to her...I should be killed. She loved me no matter what, was strikingly beautiful, but I couldn't let her have that ability to hurt me so whenever things were good I had to sabotage it. Idk why, I hate myself for it, I don't deserve to live the life I do, but I can't leave this world because she gave me the two most perfect, beautiful children I could imagine. I hate the pain I caused her, but I can't take it back. I left her 6yrs ago and we get along great now. She's happily married but will do anything to help me at anytime. I'm so sorry J, I loved you so much and used your love against you. I just think I'm not meant to be loved, I'm supposed to be the asshole women learn to stay away from and ends up alone. And that's fine, I just want our kids and you to be happy. Maybe I'm just evil.

Lovely ❤ It goes to show that it doesn’t require an entire band, multiple instruments, singers, or any other ‘pomp and circumstance’ to make a video/song sound great! Just a single person who sings and plays the piano 🎹 like she is doing here says it all imo!
Yeah, but were is the drummer?!
@@martijnfranssen5794 Since I wrote this comment 1/2 year ago, I have to listen/watch it again closely before I can honestly answer ur drummer 🥁 question. In my initial comment I was referring to the overall impression I had, and felt, about her w/o a lot of other people ‘hiding’ her voice by backing her up, like so many other artists. It was the vocal purity and talent of of her singing + being able to hear HER in a ‘simple’, not lavishly done performance. THEN I can reply to u better! 😉

For me SKYLAR put soul into the song to the point where you could feel the pain behind the lyrics as well the music. Rihanna on the other hand showcased the frustration and anger stemming from the hurt. Both beautiful versions of the song that touched me in different ways.
But I did and so it was on Rihanna's album, too." The demo track by Grey, titled "Love the Way You Lie (Part III)", is on her extended play The Buried Sessions of Skylar Grey, which was released on January 17, 2012.
