As long as Paul and his sister are ok with that and it is not complicated in terms of management. I do not think ones can feature anyone they want in their videos even if it is family.
Would enjoy seeing a day in the life of Paul….and Bethany. It would be interesting….and it would be nice to give them the credit they deserve for all they do. I know you appreciate them and you tell us often how you could never do it all without them. I think most of us would enjoy seeing what their workday entails and getting to know these wonderful people a little. You sing their praises often. We’ve come to know your family….they are part of your extended family. So if they are willing, we’d like to know them too….as much or as little as they’d be willing to share with us. 😊💖🦋🕊
Thank you for mentioning Purdum’s Produce. My nephew married into that family and now he’s managing their growing operations and the farm stand overall. 💚💚💚
Good morning! To answer Aaron’s question, the mass of plants comes mostly from the carbon dioxide and water that the plant absorbs. The soil doesn’t contribute much to the mass. The soil offers minerals and nutrients needed for the plant’s biological processes.
Thank you, that helps me understand how a 5 foot evergreen can grow out of the top of a boulder. Just enough soil in the shallow dip to collect the nutrients 👍
Absolutely. I think he does a lot of the stuff I'm most interested in too. There's a lot of infrastructure that isn't always shown in the videos but is still really valuable information.
Lol I loved the moment when Aaron realized that all the mass from plants tecnicaly comes from the earth, but doesn't "take volume" out of the soil 😅 my biology teacher in high school asked us what we thought about that once, and then shared an experiment done with willows grown in pots, and turned out most of the biomass plants produce or grow it comes from the co2 in the air and water in the soil, but most of the things they get from the soil itself are trace amounts 🙃 not large volume
I get what Aaron was talking about, it is amazing to me too as to how the land is able to sustain so many plants and produce and still be able to replenish itself year after year. Yes , a day in the life of Paul would be wonderful!
@@shawnjacobs2153 He's also not thinking about how they add compost each planting. While it doesn't compare to the mass of the plants, it definitely fills any "hole" left from previous plants in the area. The roots from old plants also help replenish the mass below soil level, and the roots of the new plant also fill the soil displacing what he's thinking of as now-missing soil. For his example of a massive tree, the root system is roughly the size of the tree canopy. That's going to fill the space he's imagining as a hole in the earth.
The main reason there isn’t a hole beneath trees and plants is because they don’t take their ‘mass’ from the ground! The largest mass of a plant comes from the carbon in the air. The roots only really take up nutrients and water from the ground.
I love the idea of seeing “a day in the life of Paul”. Or a day in the life of Aaron could be good too. Seeing what goes into creating your videos would be interesting. But would he want to give away his secrets? 😊
Yes yes yessss a day in the life of Paul would be awesome! Maybe with Laura talking us through what’s going on! I consider myself blessed to have found this channel! ❤ much love to Aaron Laura and family!
Replying to Aaron’s comment regarding the absence of a hole in the ground after a growing season/harvest… yes, it is amazing! Even more so, the fact that you can do the same thing the following season with no loss of soil! God’s plan providing for us is such a testament of His love for us! ❤
There's no loss of soil because mass doesn't come from the soil, it comes from the air (and water as filler mostly). Carbon from carbon dioxide used in photosynthesis. It's just some basic chemistry ☺️
A Day in the Life of Paul with Aaron narrating! What a treat that’d be. Like Christmas come early. I always get excited about mysterious and rare things even as simple as this. I do love Aaron seeming more comfortable and involved in these QandAs. Here’s hoping we can get through to Paul
Please Please do not change. I have gained so much from your channel and there is no one else like you. God Bless. I am laughing away at the '...did you answwer the question?' 'Say what now?' 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good morning, Laura & Aaron ☕️ I love these recaps so much. I think “A Day with Paul & Bethany “ is a great idea and, would love to see her pigs 🐷 too!😆.
I started gardening at 67 because of you! Enjoying it so much. My hobby is photography and see you keep your lenses on the window sill. Heat is not lenses friend. Please store them out of the sun. Would love to follow Paul around for a day!
My husband and I are watching the recap video & wondered if you called the “Chicken Police” to investigate Beverly on the demise of the original chickens? Too funny…we laughed so hard!! Love your videos! Keep up the great work 🙂
Coming from a person whose been through a Home renovation I would highly recommend starting with bathrooms first as a starting point. Then as things need to be moved around you can adjust and it’ll tell you which room should follow suit after the bathroom naturally.
With all your birds you should put up bird houses . Can you imagine Benjamin and Samantha s reaction if you'd get eggs and you could watch them hatch?!!🥰😊
Yes! Vote for the day in the life of Paul video! 😊 Been watching for a few years now, I’m 27, almost 28. I can’t even explain how much I’ve enjoyed your content and how much I’ve learned from you all! 🌿💚🌿
Love Sunday morning recaps! Silly observation…Was anyone else thinking that was a bug on Laura’s mug? I was waiting for it to move. Thank you for your channel.
Someone had smashed our pumpkins on the street too and a few days later there was a knock on the door. There stood a young boy with his father. He apologized for what he had done and replaced the pumpkin. You could see how hard that was for him but it sure was a good lesson. Bet he never did that again!
I think it would be great to see how Paul spends his time in the garden! But I will say that I would feel super weird having a camera follow me around so I understand his reluctance to be filmed lol!!!
Yes, seeing all the hard work that Paul does in a day would be great. We all say "we all need a Paul in our garden " . You guys are so lucky to have great workers.
Aaron in housing construction you are dealing with different trades. The sheet worker sometimes is waiting on the plumbers and electrical to finish their job. Sometimes builders have many projects. So sometimes they move trades from projects to projects. Keeping everyone working.
Yessss to the smaller Hellabores! They’re so expensive because you can only get them in at least one gallon size in my area. I’d love to get them in small sizes like that.
Ooh, with 6 children living in rural areas of San Diego . I kept a shovel outside my back door at all times . I have sliced the heads off a total of eleven rattlers . Mom’s just do what they have to do !!!
We had that happen to our chickens. It is a mineral that they need for their body. We had to add a Kelp meal to our chicken area. They eat it when they need it. We have not had it happen since. They are happy and healthy chicken!
A day in the life of Paul would be super cool. And for context you can always supplement the footage with captions of what he's doing so it's a very chill video with only the sounds of nature and hardwork
Love the way Aaron thinks. The majority of the mass of the squash is water; if you completely dried out the whole plant, not much would be left. That's a great "let's think about it" question for Benjamin!
It's actually from carbon in the air (carbon dioxide). Water us used mostly as filler. But the important thing is carbon (all living organisms on Earth are carbon-based)
@@AllTheArtsy Exactly, water is the filler that makes the plant take up all that space, when very little of the plant's total mass actually comes from the soil. Like a water balloon. :)
Aaron’s comment on where did that butternut squash mass originate? I completely understood what he was trying to comprehend my belief that’s the miracle of gardening.air, water minerals plus sunlight hold miracles and we as gardeners help. God is good
Animals with pica- eating weird stuff? Thank you so much for your sense of humor. I love that you don’t take yourself too seriously. My world needs that!
"Deep Thoughts" by Aaron LeBoutillier, You crack me up! Thanks guys, my Sunday mornings would not be the same! Also would LOVE to watch Paul! We could probably learn from him too! ❤
Your childlike wonder Aaron, at the growth of the squash and tree….priceless. Just think when your little guy Benjamin grows bigger than Laura…..but he started out microscopically….The miracle of life….
I personally think doing the house renovation all at once will save money in the long run and the headache of remodeling messes. Just make sure is a reliable contractor with a good reputation and has a beginning and end date.
Ever since I watched this it has been bothering me. Where DOES all that plant mass come from?? 🤔 "What does it mean?!" Thank goodness for the internet: here you go Aaron and anyone else curious (courtesy of Veritaseum) th-cam.com/video/2KZb2_vcNTg/w-d-xo.html
I sure would love to see a day in the life of Paul super idea! Also a day in the life of Aaron. I think your lovely neighbors love to pass by there window and see a beautiful garden.. probably not to watch you but to see your garden. Love watching you and Aaron.
I agree with Aaron, get it done. I always tell myself and others, 'without change there is no growth, without growth we become stagnant'. I truly embrace change as it means there is usually something better around the corner
I would love to see a video of Paul (or Bethany or Aaron, too) doing his daily rounds! I also liked the question about a scarecrow... I would love to see you make one with Benjamin! I attempted to make one with my son last year, but we had a hard time coming up with something to make the head that could withstand the elements outside.
The reason behind the bouquet give away was so heartwarming and touching. Thank you for sharing-so appreciate how much you share with your community. Very inspiring!
I worked at our local emergency veterinary hospital for over 13 years, dogs and cats DO eat plants that are toxic. My own cats ate day lilies and ended up in the hospital for 2 days on IV fluids.
I would Love for you to do a video of Paul! It would be great to see all he does. Maybe a video of Laura planting and then of Paul coming right behind her doing the drip. I know he does a multitude of other projects. We would definitely watch a video of Paul.
I have to thank both you and Aaron for having different points of view about removing and replacing trees and plants. My husband is my Aaron and I finally realize that you do need to remove items to see opportunities. We were removing one bush that was too tall. I really was so stuck until we removed the very old background bush. Now there is a vision. Thanks for revealing the balance of couples making plans. Partnership has nuances.
To Aaron's question of 'Where does the mass of the vegetable/fruit on the plant come from?', it's mostly water combined with carbon, nitrogen, and other elements. The plant extracts those elements from sunlight and the soil, and uses them to produce the fruit/veg. Similarly with big trees, the roots are taking up more space so it doesn't look like anything is missing. Life is pretty amazing! I love thinking about these things.
Completely agree on the hellebores! I would LOVE to be able to find small/plug sized hellebores. Most gardeners understand the need to be patient with certain kinds of plants to wait for them to get big, but hellebores that are of any decent size are sooooo expensive. I’d definitely invest in plugs and wait patiently! 😊
I just bought a three-pack of baby hellebore plants on etsy last week. There were a lot of sellers to choose from, too. She's right; there's totally a market for it.
And that is the reason I love to watch these videos - I so enjoy the way you talk to each other and go on tangents in the same way natural conversations occur. So delightful and real. (Yes, I had to pause the video when you were talking about the “volume of the earth” …)
A day in the life of Paul would be AWESOME! Would also like to see a day in the life of AARON! Much love to Garden Answer for taking us along on all your journies ❤
Love Aaron contemplating weight of the squash VS area of soil. That's the gift of creation and the ability of the earth to sustain human habitation, Aaron. Truly a precious gift you see happening every day on your property. #thankful🙏
I loved roaming around our 6 acres as a kid. I would try to get lost (never did but it was fun to try). We had a small creek and frogs and lots of trees to climb. Oh the memories.
I think it would be a fun video, "A day in the life of Paul's Answers to the Garden" being down with flu that turned into pneumonia, I walked my garden yesterday for the first time in almost 2 weeks and just broke my heart ... Having good help in the garden is definitely worth it's weight in gold...
Hello, As a family we make scarecrow people and we do scenes each year. This year the scarecrows are riding bikes. It is so fun to get together as a family.
Oh, YES!!! PLEASE, PLEASE have Paul explain the drip system S-O-O-N and especially how to Winterize it for Zone 6 East Coast Winters. I followed all the videos you have shared and put in drip in ALL the beds using 1/2" feeder tubing and either 1/4" tubing to each plant with an adjustable emitter at the end or just an emitter if the plant was close enough to the 1/2" feeder, but now I have to Winterize it and not sure if I just disconnect it from the faucets or pull it all up or wrap it or 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ Thank you so much for helping this 60÷ year old loving her gardens with all the info you share in an honest and non-"lecture" way. Blessings to your entire family.
Good morning Laura & Aaron! Always looking forward to you guys & your banter! You have a lovely home & family that are well groomed & rooted(pardon the pun) in a beautiful way! We love you guys! It's always wonderful to see your precious babies & fur babies in your videos! Stay sweet & happy gardening🌷🌹🌼🥀🍄🌾🌿🌱
For Aaron - Plants grow by pulling carbon dioxide from the air and using sunlight, water from air and soil. They produce oxygen that they release into the air and glucose that they store in the plant. That's why there's not a big hole around the plant. A lot of the plant and fruit is water and most of the rest comes from the air. Amazing, isn't it!
"A day in the life," is a very popular idea and has been around for a long time. I, personally, would love to see a day in the life of Cheddar, but I digress. It would be very well received if you did a few videos like that. We are all curious by nature and love seeing the "behind the scenes," sections of your beautiful garden! Thanks for always sharing! We all love your content so much!
@@justanonymous5681 because I feel like we see Russell all the time and he follows Laura around the most. But Cheddar is more mysterious 🤣😂😅 but honestly, any and all tours are so beautiful and fun to watch!
I need a “Paul” in my life to follow behind me putting drip irrigation in the garden…anyone else feel the same? I definitely vote for a video of “Day in the Life of Paul…Master of Drip Irrigation” YESSSSS!!! Question-can you talk about steps to prepare drip for winter? This is my first season with drip and I’m a little nervous on what I should be doing before winter comes. Please help! Also, like Laura mentioned earlier, I try to listen (watch) to my plants for them to let me know if I’m giving them too much water or not enough. It’s still challenging for me though until I feel that I’ve mastered (fully understand) that part.
Love Aaron's squash-mass thought! Kind of like how there's no more or less water on this earth than there was on earth's day 1. It's fun to think about how the squash seemingly came from nothing, but that soon it will go back to the soil and the cycle will go on and on!
You can make an area in the garden accessible to the chickens. Have them gated to an area with their chicken coop, some shade and access to some native plants, water and chicken safe plants. Lock them up at night and let them roam their area during the day. It would be like a backyard for chickens if they owned a home. Lol. That would be so cute!! Is that doable??
Isn’t it wonderful to see the wildlife coming back to the garden. A healthy garden is full of more than plants. I used to catch the snakes so my kids could touch a snake and see that it isn’t scary. They are actually quite soft and silky. Just don’t touch the ones with a triangle head. After showing a snake to the neighbors kids she called me down a few days later because her daughter was chasing a skunk 🦨 to catch it like it did. I had to expand on my list of what not to catch. Nobody got sprayed! I have also seen a snake laying on top of a bush.
You can compost without water or rain, it just takes a bit longer until the compost is ready. Just go for it, it‘s really not that difficult, promise.😉
Yes please, I'd love to watch a day in the life of Paul, and also Bethany, as long as I'm not required to work alongside them. Seriously, I couldn't even begin to keep up, but I'd love to tag along to see what they do on any given day! I especially love that you and Aaron, always give credit where credit is due! Bless you. ~Margie🤗🧤🪚🪛🔧❗
And that is why plants and trees are so amazing Aaron! From a tiny seed you can get a tree that weighs tons from just taking molecules and atoms from the air and earth. Mindboggling! Nature is crazy
Would like to see all the things Paul gets done in the run of a day I’m sure him and Bethany are so fast at getting their work done. Also would love to see your cold frames in the Hartley packed with tulips for spring ❤️❤️❤️
I would love to see a DITL of Paul! I would also like to see Laura picking out plants in the morning to plant for the day. Planting videos usually start with plants in the gator already...I want to see Laura picking them out and deciding what to plant.
I definitely would watch a day in the life of Paul. It would be good to see the daily tasks that have to be done to keep everything looking great.
And Bethany.
I’ll second that - and Bethany
YES!!! That would be fun to watch

I would want to plant them in my beds under large trees with roots everywhere. I NEED small plants just to be able to get them in the ground!
Yes!!! They are so hard to find and I love them. Such a cool plant that blooms in the winter here in North Texas.
And that is the reason I love to watch these videos - I so enjoy the way you talk to each other and go on tangents in the same way natural conversations occur. So delightful and real. (Yes, I had to pause the video when you were talking about the “volume of the earth” …)
Would love to see Paul doing his thing. I believe he would be irreplaceable to you guys!
A day in the life of Paul would be AWESOME! Would also like to see a day in the life of AARON! Much love to Garden Answer for taking us along on all your journies ❤
A day in the life of Paul sounds great. It would fill in some of what needs to get done in a garden. It's not just all planting and harvesting.
Love Aaron contemplating weight of the squash VS area of soil. That's the gift of creation and the ability of the earth to sustain human habitation, Aaron.
Truly a precious gift you see happening every day on your property. #thankful🙏
I would enjoy watching a day in the life of Paul. 💚
I loved roaming around our 6 acres as a kid. I would try to get lost (never did but it was fun to try). We had a small creek and frogs and lots of trees to climb. Oh the memories.
A day in the Garden Answer life of Paul!! Yes!! Maintenance and upkeep of all the things I so need and want to know🙌🏼💚
Haha Aaron it’s the miracle of the butternut! Your mind works in mysterious ways
I think it would be a fun video, "A day in the life of Paul's Answers to the Garden" being down with flu that turned into pneumonia, I walked my garden yesterday for the first time in almost 2 weeks and just broke my heart ... Having good help in the garden is definitely worth it's weight in gold...
I never thought about that either about the squash and trees Aaron but nature and God is amazing.
Hello, As a family we make scarecrow people and we do scenes each year. This year the scarecrows are riding bikes. It is so fun to get together as a family.
Regarding the hellebores, I've dealt with allergies all my life and have never had a problem handling them. I add a few every year, love them.
Oh, YES!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE have Paul explain the drip system S-O-O-N and especially how to Winterize it for Zone 6 East Coast Winters.
I followed all the videos you have shared and put in drip in ALL the beds using 1/2" feeder tubing and either 1/4" tubing to each plant with an adjustable emitter at the end or just an emitter if the plant was close enough to the 1/2" feeder, but now I have to Winterize it and not sure if I just disconnect it from the faucets or pull it all up or wrap it or 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Thank you so much for helping this 60÷ year old loving her gardens with all the info you share in an honest and non-"lecture" way.
My Polish grandparents waved from over the fence ‘zdaleka’ - ‘from a distance’ 🌻
What about Russell??? 😺
Can you imagine what Cheddar and Russell’s day would be like? Hard to video but fun to watch!! 🎥 🐈 🐈 😂😂
@@justanonymous5681 because I feel like we see Russell all the time and he follows Laura around the most. But Cheddar is more mysterious 🤣😂😅 but honestly, any and all tours are so beautiful and fun to watch!
They could do what yt channel Gold Shaw Farm does and put cameras on their collars...very sweet to hear the purrs and watch them scamper and explore.
You DO remember the video of the hawk in the south garden????
I was thinking/wondering if maybe there would be enough moisture for the pile from snowfall. 🤔
In such an arid climate, it takes forever!
Elephant in the room. The mighty hand of God.
Would like to see all the things Paul gets done in the run of a day I’m sure him and Bethany are so fast at getting their work done. Also would love to see your cold frames in the Hartley packed with tulips for spring ❤️❤️❤️
So, did anyone else think that was a HUGH bug on Laura’s coffee cup. I kept watching for it to move.😮
100% YES to a video on "A Day In The Life Of Paul". YES. YES. YES!
Yes would love to see a day of Paul and a day with Aaron too!
I would love to see a DITL of Paul! I would also like to see Laura picking out plants in the morning to plant for the day. Planting videos usually start with plants in the gator already...I want to see Laura picking them out and deciding what to plant.
