Thanks for all the vids man. I just bought a 2003 key west with a 2003 Yamaha 90 2 stroke motor and your vids have come in very useful. I’m in the process of doing all your steps in how to keep your motor functioning. It’s a huge help. Thank you. Saving me big money!!!!!!!
Using a tack cloth to remove any dust off the prop before priming would of helped. The primer went on good, but once you got to the black paint, what you needed to do is to back the can away a but further and spray very thin coats of the paint and build up the coats as you go so you could avoid the runs and orange peal, same with the clear coat. Thin coats with can about 12 inches away. All in all...if the prop works fine then who cares if looks a little rough. Gives it character ;o)~
I believe it is good and will do the work as a new prop. If you need a showroom quality gloss, you need to use a cars paint gun with fine mist setting and to be painted only in a heated booth, just like cars paint jobs. Take Care.
I had great results re-doing my spare Yamaha 19k prop with basic sanding, a demel, a wire brush on a drill. Finally, acetone to clean it, etch primer and then gloss white. For probably $30, it was way better than buying a new prop. I've since re-done another Yamaha 19k prop as my spare, having improved my method of sanding/painting from the first time around. It's been 6 months now and the paint seems to be holding up okay. Strange that your prop painting didn't come out as well... I will say that it was a super long process for me.
Misalignment of molecules in metal will cause shear forces beyond capacities of this alloy composition....just kidding...responding to help channel,I like these videos.

Right on!

I like the look of a shiny metal prop. Would've just sanded and then clear coat. Seems the black would chip off during use and be very noticeable.

I find warming the can in hot water " tap hot " not boiling hot , will stop the orange peel effects !
Interesting, thank you!
Usually when I have results like that it's from not waiting long enough between coats, a prime base and clear paint job should be a three day process

Next time , multiple thin coats, went too heavy, your last coat can be a little more layers then your few first thin coats
It’s gonna be in the water only the fish will know any mistakes brother. 😂if the primer wasn’t enamel then that may have been your problem
Guessing if you read directions on paint, it said top coat within one hour or after 48hrs. Looks like blistering, which happens.
Is that a Stainless Steel Prop?
Yes

Cheaper buying a new prop? xD No one is gonna look as close at it as you bro ^^)
It's not all about looks - performance is the key
Bro, I love your stuff, but them are the thickest "thin" coats I've ever seen. Too many passes with the spray can. Put less than half for each coat
If it's that ugly send it to me! I'm sure I can find a boat to fit it
First🎉
