    We could build a Pleistocene park in North America. In Alaska, we could purchase farmland and introduce in a large fenced area. Musk ox, bison, saiga antelope, Bactrian camels, llamas, alpacas and eventually captive tigers.

      @eugenepotapov  8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yes we could. And not only in Alaska. Let's raise some money and re-wild some areas in the corn belt.

      Some folks are already discussing the possibility. Look up "buffalo commons" for more details.

      Why would you introduce species that never did live there

      It is an awesome idea that has been weighing heavy on my heart lately. North America use to have “Elephants”, Camels, and even lions, with carful planning maga Fauna could integrate well with our ecology . We just need funds and a educated public that would be supportive.

      Probably not the tigers because they might escape and attack livestock,dogs and small children and make mom's too scared to go outside

    African Lions can survive in the cold so it's a good idea to add them to Pleistocene Park. But in order to do that, there can't be a small amount of herbivores. Same goes when they add Siberian Tigers or any other carnivores. Spotted Hyenas and Cheetahs can survive in the cold. They could also introduce pronghorn antelopes and cougars. Tundra Wolves, Sables, Red Foxes, Arctic Foxes, Eurasian Lynxes, Wolverines, and Eurasian Brown Bears are already in the park by the way.

    Well, what you expect. Slow internet connections (via sat), exuberant prices for everything, plus duties of the stuff (either they go to a nearest car dealer, which is c. 2000 km away, or ordering food for summer (c. 1200 km away, or fighting with bears, or driving reindeer). Or find any up-to-date web site in 1000 km radius from Cherskiy. It is Siberia. I-phone is as good as paperweight here.

    Needs more prehistoric animals like cave lions, mammoths, wholy rhinos, cave bears and of course saberthooth cats

    • @dubbixdub4376
      @dubbixdub4376 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sabertooth cats were exclusive to the Americas, so it wouldn't make sense to introduce them there. Homotherium however did live across northern Eurasia, they were basically like cheetahs crossed with sabertooth cats.

    I'd love to see how they figure out how to bring back extinct species (or at least something that looks like them.) This place could become a real life version of Jurassic Park.

    • @eugenepotapov
      @eugenepotapov  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, it won't: Jurassic Park was designed as a money-making attraction, whereas the Pleistocene Park is set up to provide crucial environmental services. The only sustainable project to the date which potentially can mitigate the global warming.

    • @meesterfeesh7127
      @meesterfeesh7127 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't mean completely selling out and converting it into a tourist destination, I mean like a full, living recreation of an ancient world with previously extinct organisms. Is that even possible with our current level of deextinction technology?

    • @meesterfeesh7127
      @meesterfeesh7127 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, come to think of it, the idea of Jurassic Park seems ridiculous. If a group of scientists, independently of anyone else, managed to bring back a living extinct animal, the last thing it would be used for is a theme park attraction.

    Dizem os críticos que seria mais ético investir todo esse recurso financeiro e humano na conservação de especies ameaçadas,seja como for todo o aprendizado na área da clonagem de animais extintos pode em algum momento futuro ser útil para as especies que hoje se encontram em estado critico. Por que não devolver o Dodo em reservas na sua ilha natal,por que não trazer de volta o Tilacino ao seu habitat,que ainda esta la?
