This song reaches so far beyond the Millennium Library, and still brings me to tears every time I hear it. As our society becomes more atomized, more militarized, and more exploited, it feels like community itself is under attack. I owe John so much for all his music.
Thank you for giving a voice to a very complicated issue. I hope your work and song will bring to light what a public space should be, and be a catalyst for change. There has to be a peaceful solution that provides safety for all, and an end to marginalization.
And again knocks it out of the park with an amazing song about a very important issue All while doing his thing by beautifying the normal and mundane in a wonderful melancholic tone you just can't not feel!
He’s an amazing songwriter and an incredible person. I’m sure you already know this, but just in case you don’t, check out his band The Weakerthans. Their songs have had such an impact on my life. Hope you enjoy the music. All the best in 2021!
Was just hanging out with my wife listening to JKS on the tube and then saw this dropped. Reinforcing my belief that John K Samson is my favourite song writer above all.
Love this. We are going to recognize it for this week's Wavvy Music Accolades. I will be in contact with you soon! Thanks for your music, such a wonderful expression of this issue that affects us all more and more each day.
the CC is a bit off, so here is the best I can do: This is where we come up with a larger plan this is where we study for the nurse exam this is where we spend a part of every day thinking in a language that they tried to take away this is where the sad lamp on the second floor leads us through a winter afternoon Here is the branch where we sing out the call: millennium for all. This is where we test out our replacement knees This is where we're knitting mitts for refugees This is where we medicate in bathroom stalls This is where we call home from a payphone down the hall. This is where we work the circulation desk Counting out a haiku in our head Here is the branch where we sing out the call: millennium for all. This is where we worry over breaking news This is where we read a hundred Nancy Drews This is where we're difficult and can't sit still This is where we come in from the "feels like with the windchill" This is where we find hour of sleep we lost wake up knowing what we need to say Here is the branch where we sing out the call: millennium for all. Here is the branch where we sing out the call: millennium for all. millennium for all.
I wish I could post a music video about the horrors of a man murdered in that library, traumatizing his family, friends and several librarians. Samson knows nothing of what happened, and even less about how to make the library a safe place for children and vulnerable people. One additional lyric could have been, “where we all hear the n-word screamed out loud, where library staff are assaulted every single day…”
Looking forward to Samson's song memorizing the victim who was stabbed to death because of the library being forced to remove security measures. Does Samson and MilleniumForAll take any responsibility for the death?

As someone living in Louisiana, I probably know more about the issues in Manitoba than I do in my home town thanks to John Sampson. :)
This song stabs!!
Love you brother.
I have your book of poetry in my bag.

This song makes me proud to be a librarian.

Someone being murdered has me feeling a lot less welcomed to the millenium library

So warm and nostalgic
Thank you
Great song John, keep making great music like this. Hope you have another album coming soon!
I discovered this from the Sklar Brothers. What a beautiful song. So evocative.
New John K Samson? Wonderful! It’s an anthem to save a library? Even better!

Very nice!
11 people are absolutely furious about books.
Where can I buy this track to support this cause?

I'm so happy about this, but please update the Facebook link - it doesn't work and I can't give the support to John K that he deserves
Wow i love john k Sampson so much wow

🌞👍⭐
Got reposted by ANTI without the call to action...weird.
o ooo oooo
Someone was murdered at the Millenium library due to lack of security measures that samson was instrumental in dismantling. Shameful. Woketard.
Thank you for giving a voice to the machete-dependent members of our community.
This is where we invent things Libraries weren't meant for..
This is where the stabbing happened, here on the fourth floor
