Last year, the "devastating" Ukrainian counter offensive started around the end of may, ending a couple of months later with the gain of a couple of villages on the southern front and a maximal advance of 20 km towards Tokmak ending in Robotyne.
The Russian winter offensive started in December last year and to this very day by the end of april 2024 still isn't over, has taken back a major city in the Donetsk suburbs, taken back many villages, towns and small cities in between Bakmut and the southern front and has pushed back the Ukrainians dozens of kilometers in many places around the Donetsk/Bakmut Frontline...
And NATO is expecting another offensive this summer from the Russians...
Just think how triumphant Ukraine and the West was just 1 year ago from now (despite having lost Bakhmut which was a sign they couldn't hold in urban combat against the Russians, but they just told themselves this this was due to Wagner, and that they could handle the Russian army with no problem), and how desperate they are just less than 1 year after their terrible counter offensive...
The advance naar robotyne by ukraine wasnt 20km but 8 km deep and around 11km width
The "major city" of Avdeevka, oh yeah bro
@@user-ei6rd7ei7x brother. Avdeevka is Ukraine's stonghold. It's been holding the front lines since 2014. The loss of that stronghold is significant to the moral on the soldiers. It IS a major city. It's like Constantinople falling from a siege.
It wasn't supposed to be possible but it fell anyways.
@@user-ei6rd7ei7x That major city was a major fortress, I expected it to hold longer than it did and I am pro Russia. It was as its proving to be, a linchpin in the lines because it was so fortified, it was thought it wouldn't fall. As such no real defenses was built behind it.
Russian offensive didn't start yet. Russia has the initiative but it is merely local offensive operations shaping the battlefield. In other words it is still an aggressive attrition phase. But overall it is difficult to argue with you. "Ukrainian counteroffensive is still going stronk"(c)

The “aid” only truly consist of ~$8 billion dollar for new equipment/ammo to Ukraine. All the other money allocated to “Ukraine” is going to replacing our US military equipment already provided to them. There is about another ~$8 billion allocated for “training which whom are they going to train & intelligence”….. Its only a matter of time before the dam burst with the pressure the Russians are applying up and down the front; I believe once that happens you will see rapid gains to the Dnipro River.

Ukraine will not get all the 60 billion. Most of it is earmarked to go to the American defense industry to replenish weapons that were given to Ukraine over the past aid packages. Very little that is being sent , or will be sent, are things that they pretty much have and not what they could really use. Like air defense, long range missiles, artillery pieces and shells. They will get some of these things but not enough to make any real difference. What they immediately are personnel. Without replenishing their ranks not only with soldiers but officers that have been lost the west can send all that the Ukrainians could use. But without bodies it’s pointless. The new recruit training has to be longer then a few weeks because the Russian army they will face isn’t the one from 2 years ago. They are better equipped now, battle hardened and quite aggressive. It take time for these raw recruits to become experienced. Also it takes time to train officers as well. New officers do not come out of the service academy experienced with combat or how to lead men in combat. They too will need to gain experience.

Why are the boundaries of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast added?
Kharkov is difficult. Don't know how many are still there, but I think it's a city of about 2 million people.. Getting civilians out of harms way would be extremely difficult...
I think a ning scenario may include a kind of a uprisind in a city. Charkov is as russian city as Donetsk.
Donetsk is a city of miners, it had a strong miners’ union, which became a center of resistance, but in Kharkov there was no such center so
so the Nazis were able to suppress the unrest.
Kharkov AND Sumy means they're likely headed towards Poltova.
Both lead directly there and it would completely eliminate Ukraine's ability to supply most of their army across the dneiper should Russia capture it.
Whether or not they plan for this to be a speedy operation over the course of this summer/fall or they plan on taking their sweet time to get there is up in the air though.
I lean towards the latter idea because they know time is on their side and furthermore sieging Kharkov and Sumy cities simultaneously will be a drastic and complex operation in and of itself given the size of them, especially since they're likely to continue trying to make advancements in the Donbass all the while so i I have a feeling that this year it really is going to be more along the lines of a "buffer zone" creation operation where they enter those two oblasts again and begin gradually surrounding and then a sieging process of both at the same time or one shortly after the other before pausing/consolidating their gains this upcoming winter and next spring in order to make their big push towards Poltova emanating from both directions around the summer time of 2025 or so.
I think a central part of their logic is that they essentially hit two birds with one stone with this strategy since the Ukrainian defences in the Donbass are likely to crumble just due to issues regarding manpower even if that isn't the primary direction of Russia's offensive as they are forced to redirect a huge portion of their armed forces in that region to go defend Kharkov/Sumy instead, so why focus the brunt of the offensive on the Donbass area and only achieve success in that one front when they can quite possibly manufacture a disastrous situation where the Ukrainians are forced to fall back across relatively vast swathes of land everywhere to the South of Sumy region basically?
Presumably they'd want to be in a position sometime at the beginning/middle of next year where in the Donbass they now surround Slavoyansk/Kramatorsk from both the North and South while simultaneously further up north have a clear pathway to Poltova via their newly captured urban logistics hubs (Kharkov/Sumy cities that is) in order to again cause a situation where the Ukrainians can't really effectively repulse an attack in either directions and as a result their hold over basically everything besides Chernihiv oblast on the left bank of the dneiper will become compromised rather quickly, potentially leading to a full blown collapse of their military (at least if they're not smart enough to retreat behind the Dneiper that is which I suspect they probably won't be given the huge emphasis on PR and the fact that even if they avoid the complete annihilation of their army in a technical sense the massive blow to morale of losing half the country in just the course of a year or so would probably cause some kind of coup or full blown revolution internally).
Perhaps I'm wrong on some of the details, but I think it's a pretty solid educated guess given the circumstances and if successful this would mean if not through negotions this will will end once Ukraine reaches the end of the rope across the dneiper sometime around mid to late 2025 most probably, if they do salvage some of their army and don't totally implode or try to negotiate after that point Russia's next contingency i'd assume would be dragging in Belarus and rolling to Kiev again in 2026 or so but I don't think it'll realistically speaking get to that point without capitulation by the West or the regime in Ukraine simply dissolving whether they like it or not.

Where is the video on the Kharkov offensive
It's unclear if what happened over the past several days in Ocheretyne was a one-off or a harbinger of things to come, and where you fall in that debate really depends on what you think the situation is like for the Ukrainian military, are they on their last legs or battered but unbroken. I for one have not seen enough solid evidence to suggest that Ukraine is facing imminent collapse. An analogy would be they're more like the Wehrmacht of 1943 than the Wehrmacht of 1945, their offensive capacity is highly diminished but they're still capable of stubborn defense and localized counterattacks.
But this event does show one thing, that the local Russian commanders have the ability to see an opening and take it on their own initiative. It demonstrates that Russian battlefield intelligence has greatly improved and that their usually lumbering chain of command has reformed to where operational level officers can act freely. And THAT should have Ukraine and its backers worried.
61 billion USD about to go poof
