    I can sure relate to everything you said here, especially at 2:30. One thing I do is to add "floater days" into the schedule. I'll go through the calendar and block out around 6 random days per month to prevent anyone from scheduling on those days. Then if anyone needs to be rescheduled due to weather I use those days. As a side note, when customers originally schedule, they indicate if they want to be contacted if I get any earlier openings. This way you have a ready list of who to contact which saves time. As I get closer to any unused floater day, if it looks like I won't need it, I'll reach out to waiting customers to see if they'd like to move up their appointment. This gives them a day or two notice and plenty of time for you to contact multiple clients if needed to fill that unused floater day. By blocking out floater days, my rained out customers don't have to wait long to reschedule, a few lucky clients will be delighted to move up their appointment, and my weather induced stress levels are lowered!

      Great points! I love the floater days idea! I will have to put in my forms to indicate if they are flexible to move up also. Great ideas. Weather can be stressful for sure. Especially on the rare instances when it rains several days in a row

    Thanks DJ! I’ve cut down my full interior/exterior details from 8hrs to 5hrs thanks to your techniques
    Cutting that time down has helped me to finally start doing 2 cars a day which has been huge. I owe you a steak dinner sometime 😂😂

      That is so great to hear!!! Keep up the good work. Repeat the same steps or process for every vehicle to increase efficiency. It gets boring but you will eventually be a to do it blindfolded and you won’t miss any spots or forget any steps. You can even plan out your process on paper and tweak it if necessary. You don’t owe me anything, but I do love steak!!!

      @@TheDetailingBusiness the steamer and the vacuum trick is amazing, and you’re right the more I do it the lower my time gets which increases my hourly rate so I’m pretty excited, thanks my man

    Love the Monday-Thursday schedule, I try and leave floater days for weather but sometimes it’s hard because I don’t like being booked out more than 3 weeks so I end up booking myself 7 days a week, I’m on a 14 day stint right now 🥴

      I can understand trying to fit everyone in, but my advice is 14 days in a row is good money, but you will burn yourself out. Not sure what your charging but have you considered raising your prices? Raising my prices stresses me out every time, but I’ve never regretted it

      @@TheDetailingBusiness for sure and I charge interior detail wise around $275 for a sedan, $305 for a 2 row suv, and $325 for a 3 row
      I’ve raised them by 25% since last year but maybe I need to experiment with raising them again but yea you’re right it is nerve racking lol

    Some younger people might not realize that the rain chance percentage actually refers to the local area, not the actual chance of rain. An 80% chance of rain really means that there is a chance of rain for 80% of the local area. It doesn't mean the chance of rain is 80%.

    How do you start a conversation about maintenance or recurring details? How do you phrase it? Do you offer discounts to recurring customers?

    • @TheDetailingBusiness
      @TheDetailingBusiness  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This might require a video response. I will say that I don’t advertise maintenance or reoccurring details. People take advantage of the lower price if it’s available to everyone. I’m very selective on taking on maintenance customers. Some customers ask me if I can come back once or twice a month with a maintenance detail. If they take care of their car, don’t have 5 kids that throw food, or have dogs, I will consider it. Right now I only have 2. One has been a customer for 15 years which I do monthly. This customer has 4 high end cars that only half of them get driven regularly, but I clean them all anyway, the other has been a customer for 20 years and I do 2 of their cars biweekly. I’ve had many others, but I’ve had to drop them for various reasons. There’s more I can share. I’ll work on a video about this subject

      I'm a mobile cat and dog groomer ... At least I can go pee in the tub and yes I clean it after! When we are on the road... We gotta figure it out... But there has been plenty of time where I have just held it too long!
