As a bassist there are no words with which I can describe Tetsuo. But this is my first time hearing the brother speak. I gotta say, I LOVE this guy!!!! He comes across very honest; and he seems to me a very humble man.
Tetsuo is in my top 5 greatest and most technical bass players I’ve ever come across. The notes he plays are as impactful as the ones he doesn’t. He makes the most difficult lines look effortless and his attention to detail and execution is absolutely awe inspiring. The kind of musician who makes you rethink your instrument!
This interview is great! Tetsuo is very well spoken and easy to understand (in terms of exactly what he's trying to convey and his feelings on whatever topic.) It was especially wonderful to hear just how humbled this man is and specifics like his musical influences and progression. Even as accomplished as he is the fact that he still talks like such a personable and human individual speaks wonders in a world full of narcissistic celebrities. The interviewer also did an amazing job asking some great questions and helping the conversation along. Excellent job to everyone involved
Tetsuo Sakurai is one of my favorites like Victor Wooten, John Myung, Alain Caron, Billy Sheehan, Stu Hamm, Steve Bailey, Richard Bona, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Mark King, Karel Honasan, Federico Malaman, Davie504, Miki Santamaria and Fernando Molinari.
Mr Sakurai played Cactus and moved on to herbie Hancock and Stevie, EWf, KntG.... OK he definitely has my attention. By the way I have just discovered Casiopea and the live performances are out of this friggin' world.
to any bassist who havent heard of this guy. you better be ashamed of yourselves.. im not even a bassist and i know this guy.. and his partner the drummer akira jimbo. are gods.
Tetsuo before the interview : it's cool, I'll wing it, English can't be that hard Tetsuo during the interview : ehmmmm so im ummmmm doing eehhhmmmmm ummmmm motown sound ehh euhhh uhhhh dancing uhhhh music?
Tetsuo is what you call A BASS PLAYER! Some of his performances with Casiopea are some of the best I've ever seen!

This man does not age. Ps, please bring the moustache back. You are my favourite bassist of all time Sir.
lol agreed. His mustache in the 80s was iconic!
One of the greatest musicians ever...
Tetsuo is such a monster bass player, his bass solo on Domino Line from the Mint Jams album is the reason I bought a Yamaha BB1600
Tetsuo playing Tears and Heaven on final interview

One of the greatest and one of the most talented bassist in the world
Such a nice and humble man that lets his bass do the talking. Such a powerful player. My hero
My favorite bass player along with Jaco , a living bass legend who would deserve much more recognition !
I am from Brazil, Ivan Lins is a great musician, he knows a Lot of chords in the keyboard and this japanese bassist is the best in the world!
MPB got its rich harmonies from Debussy and Ravel, among others. Jobim knew everything about musical theory, so did Lins.
Tetsuo sakurai is one most my hero bassist ... love see him play ...

What a relatable gentleman, he seems shy but his showmanship is top level.
The world should more recognize him as one of the absolute best.
One of my bass heroes. Since 1985

So basically your favorite genre of music is all of the above and your favorite bassist is the guy you're currently listening to
You CANNOT forget Larry Graham who popularized the style or Louis Johnson who is another crazy talented bassist.
Tetsuo looks to be a very nice man. And he plays on the instrument very sensual and beautiful, despite the complicated parts. :)
God, I love this man. I hope I get to meet him someday before he gets too old to be touring...
Bro looks majestic without a moustache
Great bass player...just watched the casiopea live track Domino line.
His playing on that was fire...got the Mint jams album on cd.
World class musician
What an awesome list of bands for the influences. He seems very polite.

Check It out the album casiopea Worldwide 88' and see How professional this Guy is. Take Care!
The Japanese Victor Wooten, the man is a fucking beast
Tetsuo is the best ❤
This guy is Benjamin Button of music
I could only imagine how great an Afzelia Infinity would be.
Why did you use the shots of the guy walking inside the set??? Couldn't use the close-takes for that instants? Looks like on purporse.
Is his custom bass available for purchase anywhere?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Tetsuo...did you jam with Alex Skolnick and Dennis Chambers?
hey guys do you know if he recorded with Konami Kukeiha Club?
yes, you can find some vids of them on yt
A better example of him is casiopea's domino line in 1982 or the live recordings of casiopea in 1985 and 1986
His current work with Katsushika Trio is also fantastic. The solo in MRI Mirai is unbelievable
Why doesn't he let him play?
さすが、高偏差値大学卒業の桜井哲夫さんですね!英会話も凄い!
Tetsuo before the interview : it's cool, I'll wing it, English can't be that hard
Tetsuo during the interview : ehmmmm so im ummmmm doing eehhhmmmmm ummmmm motown sound ehh euhhh uhhhh dancing uhhhh music?
What are you talking about? His vocabulary is super impressive. Of course he has to think the words since he doesn't speak english often.
