This was hands down the BEST piece of theatre I've ever seen! We went last Saturday and absolutely LOVED IT! Everyone was incredible! Even the flubbed or tripped over lines were instantly forgiven and moved on from. And only those who know this show well would even notice. The condensed rehearsal process is super impressive for what a polished and stunning performance everyone gave! So blessed and grateful to have been in that room and been apart of this magnificent experience. ❤️❤️❤️

Just saw the show last night. So many great songs I had forgotten were from this show. The ensemble pieces created lasting images. You can't help but sing along.

I was a Stage Manager on the 2011 Arena Stage version of G&D with Maurice Hines and Alexandra Foucard (not to mention the REST of the amazing fabulous wonderful cast!!). We recorded our cast album in NYC and went into a week lay-off before starting the tour. We were loading the show into Philadelphia when the first jet hit the Twin Towers. Load-in stopped as we all headed to the backstage crew office to watch the TV when the second jet hit. We knew we were at war, even if we didn't know with who yet. In true THEATRE MODE we continued our load-in. As we were coming off a layoff week half our cast (Arena) was in DC and the other half were in NYC and all were to travel in that day. As a Stage Manager based in Las Vegas I had one of the few cell phones working in the area so I gave it to the Company Manager to try to contact everyone. All trains were stopped so we made the decision to postpone opening until the next day (at this point life was still just going to go on as normal.....just hours after the attack). We, but loaded the show in and called it a night. The next day the cast made it in (after a bomb threat on the first train out of NYC) and we had an OPENING NIGHT. None of us wanted to be there, including the audience, but mid-1st Act we were feeling it and the audience was coming around. Then as Sky and Sarah went to Havana there was a "PLANE" with sound affect going across the scrim going into intermission and EVERYONE in the audience and backstage (we never thought of it) could be heard. Obviously we took it out of all future shows. But while we were mortified we did the 2nd act, with a rousing 2nd Act opening and finished the show. What made out tour special the next day kept us going the rest of the tour.....the reviewer said while it was in sad times the tour had to open it showed New York City in a happier time and nothing could be more important that day!!! We knew we were doing something important every night and we ended up with the best company I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I will never forget, and will always be grateful for, having my G&D family to get through 9/11 with.
