  • After being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, designer Teddy Schuyers decided to focus on redesign the ostomy bags that many sufferers have to wear to improve both their performance and appearance.
Schuyers created Guts for her graduation project at Design Academy Eindhoven after interviewing a number of people who used ostomy bags following her own diagnosis with Crohn's disease.
Acute bowel diseases like Crohn's often mean that sufferers have to have a stoma, an opening that allows the body to pass waste without it going through the entire digestive tract. The waste is collected in a pouch known as an ostomy bag.

Don’t think they are. I think it was just a design project.

@@georgemoney6893 that's up to you and your Dr is it not? Trust me, you don't want this unless you have to have it. I'd do anything to go back to screaming and shitting blood on the toilet

@@Subfightr I get that, it's something I need and something that is under consideration by my Dr. But with the surgery so many options seem open, I can go to school at 8:30, I can go to work, I can go on holidays and travel without shitting myself. An ostomy bag must of helped you in some way? Sorry if this isn't a conversation you want to be having.

@Love to share I have an extreme bowel condition which highly limits my day to day activities and therefore I struggle to get out of the house. I've been talking to my doctor for multiple years now and they still don't know what the matter is.

It would be most appropriate and realistic if the model ACTUALLY had a stoma….instead of acting to have one.

In every video I see of people demonstrating stoma products by using a fake plastic stoma stuck on there stomach annoys me especially the baseplates-flange as most stomas are not that perfectly round.. so the baseplates.. bags etc do not fit the stoma as wonderfully as they show.. use a real stoma to demonstrate products.. I have a stoma hence why it annoys me..
