    I tell people who say they want to work out but can't because the gyms are closed to come on out to the ranch. They could gets squats in by weeding, delt and trap work by pounding posts, bicep reps by lifting beehive supers, etc. They never seem to want to do it, though. LOL Digging that trellis. Garden's looking great!

    Hey Sam and Angela, I'm 58 years old and I remember as a kid we always had trouble with beetles and Japanese beetles devouring our half runner beans. Them critters will devour a bean patch. My dad and mom used 7 dust to kill the beetles or keep em at bay. It helped till we gotta rain and washed the 7 dust off. I hope you won't have any problems with them. Good luck.

    Wow! That trelliis system seems the best easiest, simplest way to go. You could use any netting andieven put the posts at a slant so the fruit or veg can grow up the netting at a slant and the fruit can hang down making it easier to harvest.

      Green Acre Homestead I bet! I only had to trellis for cucumber because I like tenderette bush beans. I used large hole chicken wire. I hate the ends. I always get scratched up. My cukes are about a foot and a half up the trellis. We have raised beds because I’m 53 and am on kidney dialysis and just needed more weed control and I can get to them easier. And I’m just feeling stinking old. Lol.

    Tried that net one year and loved it... until time to separate it from the vines. I fought with it so much, I have used cattle panels ever since. On Hoss Tools, I saw him bundle the whole thing (vines + net) up and toss everything in a burn pile. I would never burn plastic, because of the toxic fumes released into the air, and would not throw good "used plants" into a burn pile, because they all go into my compost bins. Just my 2 cents.

    • @karihayes5448
      @karihayes5448 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Angela , nice to have you back. watching Sam pulverise the poles into the ground made me think,he is gonna be knackered after this . When you described trellis , I was thinking ( for some silly reasoning ) that it would be wood . but the plastic stuff makes sense. Your garden is impressive , it has come on heaps , it disappoints me that after all your hard work that you now have to deal with weeds .Great work though . well done .

      I've not torn it apart yet, so not really. It still runs/drives, just will start slipping with the clutch after it heats up from a lot of use. I'm planning to do that as an over-winter project.

      We will do a lot of canning of our produce in mason jars. It's our preferred method for being safe to eat, but not relying on a big freezer or electricity to keep. Thanks!

      We do not know. Looking at the manufacturer's website (Tenax), they do not say either. It is UV treated/resistant though.
