    Wet washcloths work....if you microwave them for about 25-30 seconds and then wrap them in a dry hand towel to buffer the heat on the skin, but the washcloth will steam up the eye and will last for about 10 minutes. In a pinch, if you don't have an actual mask, it works just as well.

    The Optase compress is the bees knees, I like it a lot. I used it for a chalazion, and it was much better than the Riteaid gel-filled eye compresses. Those wore out/leaked after 4 or 5 days of compressing 3 or 4 times a day.

    Having Glaucoma, should I be concerned about the weight of the mask? I don't want it to cause higher eye pressure. I returned one mask that was filled with rice because when I laid down and put it on my eyes, it was very heavy. I opted for one that is filled with beads that contain a liquid, it's not too heavy.

      Maybe you can try hard boiled egg. Boil it for 15 mins, remove and wrap it with handkerchief. Wrap twice cos of the warm heat. This boiled egg retains the warm heat for 25 mins. Apply on the affected eyelid.
      Effective as done by most Asians.
      Safe and effective.

    Hello, I am 16 years old. I have been suffering from blepharitis MGD for 4 5 months due to dry eye. the tenderness in my eyelids the pain is killing me. I'm thinking of committing suicide. • @Vortimar
      @Vortimar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Please don't hurt yourself friend, there are lots of options to give you relief from MGD. There moisture chamber glasses to keep your eyes from drying out when your outdoors, computer glasses to take the strain off your eyes when looking at screens, and Lipiflow treatments have been very well studied to improve MGD. You are very brave for fighting this affliction but never give up, you've got this. Stick to your warm compress and clean your eyelids, keep fighting! :) many people have this disease and live fulfilling lives even if it is difficult.

    I dunk my face in a bowl of warm/hot water. I take a breath every so often, but I find it cheap and simple. No microwave needed. Do you see a downside with my approach?

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only downside is that you need 10-15 minutes of heat so that's a lot of holding your breath! If it heats your glands and provides relief its fine by me! I actually have one patient who can't tolerate heat directly on her eyelids and so we improvised and she uses a facial steamer device. It works for her!
