Junna gives a great visual performance. However, there are no visible microphones on her drums! The legendry Glyn Johns could record with microphones out of the field of view. However, I'm not convinced Junna has the control to yield such a good sound balance across all the drums and cymbals.
Further, they aren't playing in the same room. So that gives everyone flexibility.
There are more cuts in Junna's performance than the others, and sometimes Junna's inset video doesn't exactly match her larger video. Watch her mouth shape, and head movement. So it isn't clear what we hear is the result of what we see her playing in the video. Though that might be the fault of whoever edited Junna's video together.
I agree, Junna looks like she's having fun. However, she can afford to look very exciting if she can use 20+ takes to get enough audio and video for the final edit.
The drum part is very repetitive too. Maybe it needs less than ½ the 5 minutes?
Junna has a LOT of cuts, so can she play the song all the way through?
Overall, the audio of the performance is the guitarists. A good drum machine might do. So Junna's energy does add to the visual effect.
Merry Christmas and Happy, Peaceful New Year. ☮

@gbulmer . . . Thanks for explaining these things. My hat is off and a bow to all of you guys who know how to record videos. It's all far more complicated than it looks and what people think. Often on drum covers, I notice there is a 1/4 to 1/2 sec delay from action to sound in the video. I'm an old drummer from the 1970s, fine music back then. And the only technology we had were electric typewriters. So, you can guess this is all new to this old timer. But it's all so exciting to watch. Brings back memories of when I used to play. I play for no one now but pure personal entertainment and to see if I can actually play to today's new music. I know these are old, but I am working on music from Kim Boyoung, Sistar, the Hu, some of SPICA's old stuff and Hyolyn. Keep up the good works.

@@bash060656 Thank you for replying, and your kind, complementary and supportive words.. I'm a child of the 60s and 70s. My older brother got me into music outside main-stream Pop by the time I moved on from junior school.
I got into computing. I eventually worked at a UK University, collaborating with the Art Faculty, on various computer graphic technologies. They got me into making videos, partly to help students make better use of precious equipment outside 'teaching hours'. Back then we were using U-matic video tape. I've been in and out of video since.
It's fascinating you play today's music because I see many young musicians play 20th century music. I feel you're right to look forward. However, I also agree, the 20th century, especially the 70s, music had great variety and quality. So I feel I can appreciate why young 21st century musicians play that music.
From your list of 21st century music, I only vaguely know "the Hu". So I have some new stuff to discover. 😋
I tend to explore non-American, non-UK, 21st century music, with the exception of UK Jacob Collier and US Snarky Puppy.
If you don't know her, maybe have a glance at self-taught Japanese female drummer, Yoyoka_soma. Her _Good Times Bad Times - LED ZEPPELIN / Cover by Yoyoka , 8 year old_ th-cam.com/video/91pz1E8pAOY/w-d-xo.html made Robert Plant smile, and quip, "I know where she can get a job". 😂
Her _Burn - Deep Purple / Covered by Yoyoka Soma_ th-cam.com/video/uhzX9QbH3js/w-d-xo.html inspired Ian Paice to collaborate with her. Drummer World added her to their "Top 500 drummers" soon after, their youngest drummer at 11yo.
I enjoy _Onyx - ... (Senri Kawaguchi) ... / Seven year old drummer ”Yoyoka"_ th-cam.com/video/MkhGgqXywU8/w-d-xo.html recorded at a live gig. After they finish, the audience reacts sporadically to what they've just seen and heard. 😂
I'd be very interested if you detect any delay between action and sound on her videos. Her Dad and her try to make them "live" because that's their ethos. She started teaching herself drums at 2yo, started playing live at 4yo, and took over as drummer in her parents band at 5yo.
She can play many styles, from Led Zep. to Rage Against the Machine, The Who to Tool, Sting (Vinnie Colaiuta) to Rush, Black Sabbath to Paul Simon (Steve Gadd), etc.. She's covered a lot of the non-Jazz top 50 drummers.
She got a US Artist Visa and moved to California in 2022, where she's recorded a couple of Jazz quartet albums, and her own album; original music not covers.
She turned 15yo in October. As you can likely tell, she's my "musical hero".
You _might_ enjoy these young musicians (9-16yo) cover a song from your youth _Heart - Barracuda / KIDS ROCK FOR KIDS Global Collab_ th-cam.com/video/DTDeOAHgzQ8/w-d-xo.html
You might detect some delay or loss of synch between audio and video on this. I suspect they didn't have enough cameras to cover everyone playing, and some shots would have included camera operators, if it was videoed in one take. AFAIK, the video was four takes. However, I'm reasonably confident the audio is one continuous unedited take, mixed by Ellen's, the bassist, Dad. (KIDS ROCK FOR KIDS is a none-profit who help kids in need).
Sorry, I've gone on a bit long. Thank you again for being kind, positive, and giving me new music to listen to.
Merry Christmas, and Happy, Peaceful New Year. 🎅🎉 ☮
PS - if you enjoy watching kids play music, Yoyoka started making her "Drum Course" teaching videos when she was 6yo. She later improved the English subtitles for her _[Remaster] Yoyoka Drum Course #13 “Bass Drum Triplet Without Downbeat.” / ..."_ th-cam.com/video/B5EUmV9Jz-E/w-d-xo.html where she teaches how to play John Bonham's famous one foot 'triplets'. She's a hoot. 😆

@@gbulmer daym, thats one of the best counter comments ive ever seen xD

@@OfficialEnglishHermit Thank you for taking the time and effort to reply. Thank you even more for your kind and generous response, and not 'flaming' me. I appreciate it.
I've noticed odd 'cuts' in her "Fire and Flame" video. However, having two camera angles on screen at the same time makes it easier to see. A reactor watching Junna's original "Cannon Rock" cover stopped it purely by fluke at a specific point where the two camera angles clearly don't match. In one she's sitting upright looking ahead, and in the other she's bent forward looking down. Looking more carefully reveals other mismatches. That motivated me to comment here and there.
I'd expect the video from different cameras to be synchronised with a "clapper board" or the first note she plays. Hence if there's only one continuous take from each camera, I'd expect the video to match throughout. However, if segments from different takes are being combined, her whole body might not be in the same position if the editor is concentrating on ensuring her sticks match the audio track.
In a "live" video with a band her mic setup looks 'traditional' (one mic/instrument). She's made multiple videos in the same studio space, so I'd expect the studio mic setup to be similar to the "live" setup (for several reasons).
Anyway, thank you again for replying so kindly.
Best Wishes for Your New Year. ☮
PS - TH-cam recommended this "Canon Rock" video, and the other reactor's video after I'd watched 10yo guitarist Ayu Gusfanz - "Canon Rock" (Jerry C) cover on Melvin Thinks YT channel. It's all fluke.
