Everyone that has read Frank Herbert's Dune will have their own vision of it. That's the magic of the written word. And if Frank Herbert taught us anything, it was to have an open mind.
Villeneuve has shown us, with Dune, that dreams can be given justice, if the heart is in the right place.
A grand achievement of cinema and of science fiction. Many will wish that Herbert was still around to have seen this. But of course he already has.
    Salut .

We don't need Dune to reach the level of significance that Star Wars had already reached. What is suitably objective for Dune is to work as a film we can all enjoy with the technology available for production to be successful.

Wonderfully editted buddy, Dune was literally my film of the year, it's an exhilarating exotic epic that could be coined as a modern masterpiece that is crafted with unrivalled vision backed up with jaw-dropping visuals, mammoth set designs, outerworldly score, sheer will and pure artistic craftsmanship.
This is what we get to witness when a group of people who loves a certain work come together to present it on the big screen as they eventually tend to breath a pure soul into it.
I remember going into the Cinemas and was quite nervous because this was by far the most hyped I have ever been to see a film in last couple of years. And 5 minutes into the film I breathe a sigh of relief thinking yeah, this is good but it was somewhere around 30 minutes into the film, exactly at the Gom Jabbar sequence a massive smile creeps onto my face saying No, it's fucking insane. Post that I just sat there Spellbound till the film ended. Somehow the film managed to exceed even my sky-high expectations and to be honest I never wanted it to end.

And of course Hans Zimmer.. He is living genius and such a great composer. I am really happy that I watched this film in the cinema. Main reason to watch the film in cinema is Hans Zimmer. He never disappointed us. I hope second film is gonna be more detailed in Dune universe. Visual effects were in another level. So it deserved Oscar.

Oh well go ahead and tell me what happened in Dune then. I'm waiting...
It's three hours of half of story which as a whole isn't even much of a story in the first place. The characters are about as thinly drawn as it gets. What makes the novel of some note is the cultural anthropologies and intrigue of their dynamics to one another - almost all of which the film avoided. There's just stuff and then it ends.
The Last Duel is a far more fulfilling cinematic experience from a far more masterful filmmaker. So is West Side Story and Licorice Pizza.
Just because you convinced yourself to worship Villenueve doesn't make him God.

“let me use all of my talent and skill to channel the powers of high budget filmmaking into creating the most immersive, hypnotic, visually flawless, detailed and breathtaking realization of this world and this story that can be made today”
And then he got 165 million dollars recruited some of the best people working in movies today and made a movie that almost everybody who knows the source material thought was impossible to make while also earning 400 million dollars in the box office.

Dune is one of the most important books I have ever read. I am always disappointed in the filmic versions, because they just must abbreviate so much. I hated that so much of the story and the density of the characters was also very abbreviated in this version. Only the Bene Gesseret were presented meaningfully among the many disciplines of Herberts various complex contexts for Paul’s mentors.
BUT - the film itself is pure Art. Never have I seen such a sense of scale as in this production design. The *feeling* of this film is as unique as the novel. And, of course, the score, I think, is Hans Zimmer’s most impressive so far - giving such an amazing voice to Arakis - and companion to the film’s highly worthy sound design.
I love the muted colors, the vastness, and the wild primal music.
Your video captures so much of the film’s powerful immensities. Kudos to you for that.

After reading half of the dune series, I can say Villeneuve nailed it. He just nailed it with both the films. And I’m especially looking forward to Dune Messiah. It’ll be the great finale to this saga. And could even be one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

I remember you once refused to create the beauty of Dune video because you were not inspired by the movie. But nevermind, this video is absolutely dope.

I like the attention to detail. In the book, the Spice Harvester was described as blue-yellow like a beetle, and they passed it on, although it's almost not a noticeable detail since the machine is all worn out from use

The movie isn’t without it’s flaws but I feel like a lot of people seem to overlook/underestimate the “bland” story within. Despite a lot of general exposition from characters in the first 40 minutes it’s very allegorical for the rest of the runtime and a lot of character and world development is shown instead of told, much like the Hand of God on the moon of Arrakis or the mouse that appears with sweat-drenched ears as Paul is struggling to adapt to this new world. That’s the beauty of Dune.
