    Hey Greg and Jan! Thanks for the informational video. Just bought 40 acres and I'm going to follow rule #1... good perimeter fence first!

    Thank you so much for these videos. We are just starting off from scratch and trying to figure out a way to do it with our limited income. You are Gold, sir!

      Natasha you folks can do this. Make up a list of "To Do" items on your farm. As you get one item done, check it off your list. Getting this list completed is so rewarding and energizing.
      I used this method when I got started years ago with nothing and was almost broke. There are always little things that you can do around your farm that do not require much money. All those little things start to add up and will make a huge positive difference to your farms bottom line.

    Hey Greg, great videos! I was wondering what is the space between the 4 wires for your sheep?

    Those rope strands are hot. What keeps them from grounding out when you drop the gate ?
    Thanks

    Do you use this type of gate just for interior gateways or also for perimeter gates?

    Maybe you could have a talk about your water system, and that quick pipe disconnect I saw on the ground, thanks.

      Yes, our water quick couplers will be a video in the near future. They are awesome tools for where you need water and very economical.

    How do you de-energize the gate? Wouldn't this gate always be electrified even when you open it?

    Is this still available from powerflex, I can't seem to find it and would love to get some to make some gates for the sheep

    Hey master grazer, I have a 24 acre plot that's almost a perfect square. Should I invest in a metal perimeter fence and just use electric to divide the paddocks? My dad wants to put up permanent paddocks and metal gates all over the place and I just want to get the perimeter done XD. And also what do you think about growing alfalfa and selling hay VS rotational grazing as far as economics. My dad wants to sell a bunch of hay to make money and im trying to convince him we can do well rotational grazing.

      Do not hay your land, graze it if at possible. Haying is not the way to improve your soil, grazing will.

      @@gregjudyregenerativerancher okay thank you. Ill try and plot as much land as i can for grazing this year and do my best to manage it well!

    That fiberglass post is that 2 inch and filled with foam? How old is that post?

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We use any type of fiberglass posts for our sheep gate ends. That particular post was a solid fiberglass 1" rod.

    Ha Greg how often in the growing season will you cut the weeds under the fence.

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Every two years we cut the young trees growing up in the fence. We never cut weeds in the fence. We have a electric fence charger that powers up to 5000 acres. Never ever turn your fence off and weeds will not bother you.

    I am guessing that will work for bottle raised calves , the same as sheep .

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would work great for bottle calves. These gates even keep in our livestock guardian dogs that live with our sheep 365 days of the year.
