@@ethancampbell9096 It's second-hand. I used the $4,000 I'd saved up to replace my aging furnace, haha. As it happened, my town was flooded and my furnace was ruined. If it had been a new furnace I'd have lost my mind.

This song is flipping amazing. It pulls at my heart strings. I love the bass clarinet SO MUCH. Mom says I'm obsessed (to which I have to agree *smiles sheepishly*) but I think it's just too easy to love this instrument. I've been playing it for two years now and I'm so pumped. I'm only a freshie this year so I have a long way to go, but what I do know is bass clarinet is the most epic instrument ever. And it's NOT A FRICKEN SAXOPHONE!!!! :P

8 years ago when I started playing bass clarinet, this is what made me fall in love with it too. I’m glad this piece inspired so many people, it truly is just beautiful

My group tried it and it sounds like normal except an octave lower, rough on lower chords, and boring on the high notes. You might be able to get a group to do it well with lots of practice but it would take a while. Unless you’re incredibly good at contra.

i played bass clarinet until my friend showed me the contra alto. they both have a rich sound if played good but i love the sound of low clarinets and the low range of the contra alto is so smooth.

I am in love with the alto sax...and i hated clarinet. but after hearing the bass clarinet i talked to my band teacher and i switched to bass clarinet! I cant wait to actually be able to play it!
this is so cool. i am a 6th grader band student and i play the clarinet and my friends sister is beast on this instrument. i always knew a bass clarinet was cool, but never thought it was this cool. WOOOO BASS CLARINET :D

@@korusamaa Oh, wow, I certainly tried! I played all through high school band, so four years plus two extracurricular classes, but I didn't find anywhere to take it further than that (yet). I think I sounded pretty good, but I definitely couldn't reach the highest notes. Even at my fittest, when I was doing firefighting youth camp and crazy stuff like that, I would run out of breath. You need a MASSIVE lung capacity to pull this off!
@@ForestFire369 I’m currently in my last year of high school and my band director forced me to play the bass clarinet with no experience with clarinet at all! I’ve grown to love the bass clarinet and I’m fortunate enough to have resources to continue to play the instrument. I think it’s a beautiful instrument and I’m glad you stuck with it with all of high school (: even after all these years of this comment you probably forgot about haha

I was able to talk to my teacher about having a bass clarinet section at my high school, and it worked! There are 4 of us in marching and 5 in concert, and next year I will ask my teacher if the 4 of us can play this for our concert! The song is beautiful, great job
For the record, there are schools which march the bass clarinet. Mine was not one of those, but others in my district did march them.

@MsContrabassClarinet usually people call it growling... its what ive always heard it to be, and call it. some people do call it multiphonics, but multiphonics are produced differently and arent as rough.
