Tbh they dont get paid enough for that. Ik for a fact that they have at least one manager, and if the manager doesnt care, then the operators wont either. Also the most dangerous times for a ride that could be the operators responsiblity, are the beginning and end. While the ride is going, theres little to nothing they can do outside of damage control.

Who doesn't get paid enough for what? A ride operator to pay attention and do their job?

@@LawnBunny777 well yes and the supervisors as well. Theres not enough people in general. And tbh little regard for safety for the public. I personally was trained on a ride for 2 seconds and left alone. It went ok for a bit but i made a mistake that couldve seriously hurt 2 children and really hurt myself saving them. Thats just one of many many instances I could tell you from just a short time working the fair.

this is the most nitpicky thing I have ever seen in my life.
    1. most of those rides are timed for 2min.
    2. If something is going to happen. It's going to happen whether or not the operator is on the phone. and there's nothing you can do until the thing stops...
How about do a story about how so many carnies are coke heads and meth addicts.. Try that.. but because for 2min while a ride is going and there's nothing they can do until it stops. that's a story?

There might be a little button called the emergency stop…
