The BEST Thomas and Friends Episode EVER!

- 'Old Reliable Edward' is my favorite episode of Thomas and Friends and here's why. This is an experimental video to see how these types of videos will do. I will be making more modeling videos in the future but those videos and gathering content for those videos take a long time and I'd like to consistently upload. Let me know what you guys think!

Old Reliable Edward seemed to have ended the CGI-Series arc of Gordon and Edward's rivalry, and that is why I love it.

Thomas is the MVP of this episode. The writers remembered that the little blue train LOVES to prank Gordon, and here he is with an opportunity to do it and get away clean. Also, Thomas’ smug faces this episode are glorious. My dude chose the Thug Life and I love it!

This is one of those episodes that takes teaching a character a lesson to a whole new level, which is why this episode is stuck out from all others for being great
I love when Edward is being unreliable and Thomas go on to Gordon to teach his lesson
Never thought I would hear Thomas get called a GIGA Chad
Old Reliable Edward was the episode that confirmed to me that Andrew Brenner and his team of new writers really got down who these characters were. It's also one of the funniest episodes of the whole series, which is pretty incredible when most of the humor is solely provided by the snappy dialogue, facial expressions and voice acting, especially Edward's "Sorry?" at the end.
While it's not exactly an episode about Edward, I do like how Brenner gave Edward flaws that don't feel out of character - just wanting a smidge of appreciation, which is something I think even the hardest workers can relate to.
Yeah it is nice that Andrew Brenner have some characters flaws.
Thomas and Edward have one of the best dynamics in the series across all eras imo. Another pair I like is James and Edward.
I hope you do more stuff like this.
I like how Edward told Thomas about Gordon not saying thank you because Thomas was the second engine to come on Sodor, but was purchased first and he was there with Edward most of the time.

This episode shows that Edward is clearly a role model when it comes to him proving the bigger engine's insulting comments completely wrong.
This is one of the many best episodes of the Thomas and friends series, such a great plot Andrew Brenner has done.

There needs to be more analysis of episodes from the CGI series like this in my opinion. Highlighting its good qualities and how many of them have distinct differences and dare I say improvements over some of the model series. I liked this video a lot, especially since you were so passionate about it.
S18 had so many banger episodes, this was definitely one of them. I love S18
I do agree, this episode was brilliant and a perfect end for Gordon and Edward. And we gotta appreciate how Thomas and Edward were the mega Chads of the episode let’s be honest!
I really enjoyed this video. I understand why people don't care for this episode, but I personally love this episode. I do wish to see more videos like this about the CGI series. Cause when it come to discussion and retrospective videos, the CGI series doesn't get talked about enough.
This is definitely my favorite episode by Brenner and my favorite in the entire CGI series. I miss when they treated Edward right! Would love to see more videos like this in the future! Very enjoyable!

this whole episode is basically thomas helping his dad with getting back at a guy who just wont leave him be and i find it pretty endearing cuz rws thomas probably wouldnt do this for anyone but edward.

One of my favorite episodes I remembered watching back when I was younger. This definitely helped Gordon learn his lesson along with thanking Edward for giving him a push on his hill.
I'm 18 so I saw Edward and Gordon on DVD (praise the classics) even though seasons 8 and 13 are my childhood, this episode gives that classic masterpiece that same vibe
This episode is basically a rewrite of Edward the really useful engine (aka the worst Edward episode in the model era). This is why I love the cgi era
this is sick, big fan of this episode, good stuff man.

This was a really fun review for an episode I've never seen before, you should definitely do more of these reviews.
K2s can only go 24 mph (top speed) meaning purposely slowed down the express and would then have to break the speed limit making up for lose time just to bully Edward
Side note I love that this episode shows that Thomas can outsmart everyone when he wants to

Best episode ever? That's a big call to make. In the CGI era, quite possibly, but I don't think it can compare to the classic model series, especially with episodes like *The Flying Kipper, Old Iron, Edward's Exploit, Escape etc.* It is a good episode, typical of the Brenner era, because Brenner is a big fan of the show and the episode does have the same morals that the original books taught us, as well as the classic era of the show, including some episodes that were not sourced from the books. It harks back to the days of Edward being talked down to by the other engines (Gordon in particular) before getting his comeuppance. A nice, reflective story for the modern Thomas fan 👍🏼
I know Gordon is made to be a character to hate but I still like him because in the railway series Wilbert made it so Gordon had the most character arc, you watch him mature all the way through the books, and that's why I respect him
Honestly before clicking on this I quickly watched the episode and it was better than I remembered, and then watched this and I totally agree with you on this a top 5 of all time for sure. Also I support the variety, sure modeling is your main, buts also nice to step back and try something else out you’ve been itching to try. For me for instance I do thomas adaptations in Ivor the engine style. But every now and then I do something different digital art or model filming. It’s like getting like getting something off your chest, but in a good way. Keep up the great work mate. It’s videos like these I love.

This episode is awesome I'll admit, but I love Gordon in Hero of The Rails the best.
I think the main reason people don't like this one is because it is another "some big guy thinks edward is stoopid" story, which has been done a lot of times before. This has kind of a new spin on that with Thomas' galaxy brain plan, but it is kind of the same story.
That of course doesn't make it bad or even mediocre, but still it's like a 8/10 for me.

This is an episode that should've worked in S6, instead of David Mitton's Edward the Very/Really Useful Engine because in ORE, Edward is actually a active character in the story where in ETV/RUE, He isn't. Edward's a minor character in his spotlight episode in S6 and it was Percy & Topham who setup their wtaf plan to teach Gordon a lesson, where as here in ORE, Edward comes out on top.

This is a great review. Although, I must point out, I don't like to think of model and CGI as the same canon since so much of the model series is rectified to accommodate the CGI series.

My favorite episode from this is when Gordon says "Oh the indignity." For some reason, his face when he said that, cracked me up.

My only problem with this episode is how Thomas didn't get in trouble for delaying the express train. Overall I like how they protrayed the character well in this episode. The writers know what they were doing
well i look over that for plot convenience. this is an episode about the characters and the way they interact with each other. not how the rules of real railway practice works

An interesting perspective, unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of this episode as it does retcons Gordon's respect for Edward after Edward's Exploit. Which is the same problem I have with Edward the Very Useful Engine from Season 6. Although I will admit Thomas is the only good thing I can say about this episode. As for the review itself, I definitely wouldn't mind if this was another form of content on your channel, keep up the good work!

Why does Gordon keep giving Edward shit? Like seriously, that's why I don't like season episode "Edward The Very Useful Engine." In that episode Gordon says that Edward should be retired, it retcons Edward's Exploit. That being at the end, Gordon and James are respectfully silent in the shed. The episode isn't character development, it's the exact opposite. Like Gordon, buddy, Edward proved to you that he can pull a train without siderods and battered body. Gordon, sit down and be quiet lol.

I’ll be honest I’ve never given the cgi series a fair shot due to model era biases but to see someone who has a cgi episode as their all time favourite makes me think to give the cgi series a fair shot though I’m skipping series 13-16.

As it one of the best TTTE movie, it also treated Edward much better than the 1st season, as he is main part of the story and bassicaly become Thomas father figure, a good reason why Thomas really respect him.
