I’ve got a pair of 5.8 Venture V-Lights which are not as heavy as the standards but not quite as light as the V-Hollow Lights. Basically the axle isn’t hollowed out but the kingpin is. I forget the exact measurements but I think those Ventures added about 0.4” over an Indie and 0.2” over a Thunder to the wheel base. So definitely the widest I’ve ever experienced. Turning isn’t super great but it isn’t terribad. Base plate does stick out further but the bolt holes and wider axle position makes you need a wrench because your skate tool isn’t going to fit on the outermost nuts. I like ’em. I feel super stable on them but they are a bit on the heavy side. That said they can make 14-14.25” wheel base decks feel better. Going to be interesting to hear your take on the shape. I really liked the 8.5” Enjoi shape and that definitely felt a bit fuller.
Thanks for this comment- helped remind me I should look for a shorter wheelbase when I set them up. I copped the 5.6 (they were on sale for $14) as I'm riding mostly 8.38 and think it will be interesting to see how they work (I'm used to riding 8.5 trucks). If they feel weird I may return them and get the 5.8 but visually they looked really wide. We'll see I guess lol.
@@Skatebetter I’d rather have just a slightly bigger truck than a smaller one most of the time. I like my stability! I’d look forward to hear what you think of the Ventures too. Like I said I feel stable on them and the turning is alrite.
tried indy forged hollow, thunder hollow light, venture low(all 8.0) now I skate v lows, the cast BP wheel base are almost the same as thunder cast BP, the major difference are BP stick out more (like ace, indy) and the weight (8.0 v lows 369g vs thunder std 340g). there's a thread in SLAP MAG forum "WB on your truck" Ace 44 (8.38" axle): + 2.75" Film 5.5 (8.25" axle/6 Hole baseplate): + 2.875" Film 5.5 (8.375 axle/4 Hole baseplate): + 3" Independent 149 STD (8.5" axle): + 3" Independent 169 STD (9.125" axle): + 3" Independent 149 forged hollow (8.5" axle): + 3.1875" Krux K4 (8.5" axle): + 2.625" Tensor ATG Aluminium 5.5 (8.25" axle): + 3.0625" Tensor ATG Mag 5.75 (8.5" axle): + 3.125 Thunder 149 team edition (8.5" axle): + 3.1875" Thunder Hollow Lights 151 (8.75" axle): + 3.25" Venture standard low 5.2(8 axle):+ 3.283" Venture standard 5.8 (8.5" axle): + 3.25" Venture 6.1 (8.75" axle): + 3.125” Venture Lights 5.8 (8.5" axle): + 3.5" Venture 5.8 Titanium (8.5" axle): + 3.4375 Venture 5.6 cast: +3.25 Thunder Ti Hollow Lite 148: +3.25 Independent 139 Titanium: +3.00 in Thunder 147 Hollow Light: +3.3125 in Destruco D2 Mids: +3.125 Thunder 161 (9.125" axle) +3.10" wb (52mm height) Indy 215 Stage 11 (10" axle) + 3.00" wb (55mm height) ACE 66 (9.35" axle) +2.65" wb (54mm height) Film 6.0 raws: +3.13" Venture 5.6 V-hollows: +3.38" Tensor Maglight Low 5.5: +3.15" the measurement is axle to axle, so if we divide it by 2, T forged and V low cast are almost the same. so WB length: V forged>T forged=~V cast>T cast tried 8.0 thunder hollow light(300g/+3.32"), V lows(369g/+3.283"), can't really feel the WB difference, V lows feels better to me, although V lows WB is shorter but the weight gives me better pop and flick, T hollow are too light for me, always kick my board away when doing tricks, and wind flip easily. The Venture 5.8 are good just gives u a longer wheel base and sticks a lot on grinding concrete ledges in the beginning
Def feeling that longer wheelbase- big pros and cons so far but I actually like them more than I thought I would.

Alright alright alright 👍
Lol
Loving the purple kit 💟
we will need a venture va thunder comparison vid dude!🙏
Oh that’s definitely happening 💯
I like Almost decks but wish they made an 8.6 in. deck
I would def try an 8.6 at some point, probably super fun.
Kickflips better on Thunders, 360 Flips better on ventures. I don't know why
I’m about to f around and find out. Lol
Both are better for me on Ventures
