    "Johnny was very good as always" What exactly does that mean Skip? He made a ton of really immature , irresponsible, selfish, unprofessional, self-destructive, addictive decisions. Doesn't make him a bad person, BUT doesn't make him "good" either. Do you think his teammates RESPECTED him? How did he treat his family? Too much Too soon! He couldn't handle the situation he was put in. It's not JUST on him. He loved the fame and fortune, but mental health was not his ally. Some of me feels sad for him, BUT some of me feels disgusted, because NOT everyone gets a chance to play pro sports.

    Wait. He is describing Johnny Manziel, correct? The way he is talking, I thought he was talking about Michael Vick. I would put Vick's redshirt freshman season up against Manziel's first year.
    Second. Imagine if Vick watched film in the early part of his career.
    Let's also think about Lamar Jackson.
    Manziel does compare to either of them.

  • @bennypit4411
    @bennypit4411 ปีที่แล้ว

    Manziel wasn't speaking to the media his freshman year, and that was a huge mistake. Sumlin had that policy in place to "protect" his young players(for many reasons, from saying something dumb, to causing them to get a big head), and the irony is that policy enabled Manziel. The media wasn't able to see Manziel in those hung over states before and after games, had Manziel been giving interviews before and after games him being in that condition would've been very noticeable and it would've been a big topic of conversation.... it would've been dealt with quickly, Sumlin and A&M wouldn't have had a choice, they would've been forced to address it behind the scenes. But nobody outside the program was seeing it really and with them winning games it was overlooked, the public pressure from Manziel being hung over during games could've corrected this problem early on.
    I don't know what coach Sumlin's and his staff's motives were but they did that kid no favors. He is the coach our parents warned us about and the villain coach from every 1990's sports movie.

  • @ubon11

    Go back and watch the bowl game where they destroyed Oklahoma. Hidden in the details is that Manziel played really poorly. The OU defense was so awful that day and average QB play that day would’ve put up 4 more TDs on OU. That game was the first time where I thought this guy doesn’t really have it and was incredibly overrated.
