I saw When The Clouds Clear at the Barbican a few years ago. Towards the end there was this incredible moment where (following a typical Bärtschian turbulent texture) the chord from Modul 12 just popped out, like a bell - ah! It was this wonderful moment of beauty and ecstasy; I'll never forget it.
🙏🏻 This is the moment which is so complex to create: an enlightening moment of sensual truth, it’s „right“ although it is fluid and gone in the next moment. Thank you for sharing your experience! 🙏🏻🎶
@@ghost-cathedrals this is a encouraging feedback. This is why we agreed on the documentary by Julian Phillips. The working spirit and philosophy is the background of the music. 🙏🏻🫵🏻🎶👀👂🏻
I designed the New Year's Eve for my family and guests to hear this music. Those who were impressed and did not know this music asked curiously who was playing it. Now they know.
I agree, that’s what I am saying in the film: to learn from atonal, abstract music does not mean to use it in the same way. We organize structures more in a new gravity system of meaning (structural harmonies, cycles, beat balances, counterpoint and polar organizations). It can include „atonal“ moments as flavor and different resonances. Thank you for listening carefully - I also do not always agree on what the external experts are saying in the film.

Getting this documentary series along with the new album is truly a treat! Nik Baertsch & co are the embodiment of enthralling, creative music.

Profound and very, very moving. Both your music, your philosophy and practice. And, of course, the various episode. Domo arigato gozaimasu.

I don't think Nik's music is atonal, because it doesn't reject the organisation of pitches, it's just not in traditional way with thirds.
