    The Monarchy exists as the symbolic representation of the UK, it would be a mistake for him to place blame and guilt on every single citizen of the UK. He could believe it 100% but he should not be putting that on the British public.

    The King has no reason to apologise for anything.
    The British Empire bought justice, liberty and progress to many. It was first in all of history to abolish slavery (1808) and actively fight against it.

      Agree absolutely. My husband was a pilot during the 1950s and the 1960s. He said he saw Africa at its best - British Colonial Africa where everything worked, there was education, health care, very little crime, justice and above all, fair play.

      The slave trade shouldn’t have started in the first place. Why are you proud because Britain was the first to abolish slave trade?

    • @freeman8128
      @freeman8128 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raynename1041 Slavery and the slave trade has existed throughout the world since the dawn of time and still exists in some places and cultures today, eg. parts of Africa, throughout the Islamic world and China. The USSR was built on slavery and collapsed when the gulags were abolished. In 1808, The British Empire was first major power in history to abolish slavery throughout its realms and has actively fought it ever since; that is something to be proud of.

    • @raynename1041
      @raynename1041 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@freeman8128 The damage was already done and people are still affected by it till date. Try and turn slave trade round on Africans. The whole of the European empire were a very evil empire. I would be proud and gloat if the British abolish slave trade without taking part, however they took part and they were one of the major factors at the time. So them abolishing it first doesn’t mean anything to me.
      The British abolished it after they had gained tremendous from the slave trade, and they had murdered a lot of the African natives.

      I reckon that Britain should be giving a home to Boer descendants if they would like to come here and start a new life. From what I have read, life in South Africa can be pretty rough for the whites who are left. That would be more valuable than any apology.

    If Britain had not stepped in at great loss of life by our soldiers Kenya would be about as done as South Africa is today. Our former colonies have done very well for themselves good for them but look at the rest of Africa constant wars and no respect for anyone. Would Kenya like to be without Electricity 24 hours a day. OUR KING HAS NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR TO ANYONE.

    The only people who have a right to apologise are those responsible. The idea that someone generations removed has the right or ability to apologise for actions committed long before their birth is close to hubris. In any case it is impossible to apologise to people long dead... because they are not alive to hear anything. This strange quadrille of one bunch of people claiming they they have the right to demand another bunch crawl to them as, perhaps, they imagine their long dead relatives once were forced to genuflect is surreal. What's done is done. What needs to be done is the issue. Harking on about history takes focus away from sorting out the future. There is something elementally negative and self-defeating in this perverse exchange of hopeless negativity.
