What a great haul of original art you managed to get at the show, Carl! Naturally the Grummett pieces are my faves, but the Frankenstein is also excellent as was the Ruth Bader Ginsburg! It's great to hear that Tom's planned get together turned out so well, I'm glad you all had fun!
Thanks Rubén! Tried to stay focused but yeah, picking up those Grummett pieces from Karl was amazing. Finally have an example of Karl’s inks on Tom too, big box checked there! The Frankenstein’s Monster came out great, but I had a feeling it was going to be a wonderful pairing of artist & subject matter. Jesse mentioned it was right up his alley when we set it up so that was naturally music to my ears! Lots of fun surprises from the show too, all in all, a really great weekend of collector & artist chats!!
Pretty sweet haul of stuff, Carl! I especially like the Spider-Boy / Super-Boy / Ben Reilly piece and the Don Rosa piece. Baltimore is always a great show, last time I went was 2022, wanted to this year but it just wasn't in the cards but hopefully next year. Also sorry I missed your CAF Live interview with Bill, was traveling that day and unable to tune in. Plan on catching it on the rewind this week or over the weekend though. Cheers - Kavi
Gotta show Amalgam some love right? Some of those designs were/are fantastic! No worries on missing the show, it was a fun time! I felt like I was worried about not having enough to say going into the show but looking back, I clearly wouldn’t shut up! 😂
Man, what a video. First off, that Lonergan commission is an absolute gem, and I agree passing up remarques to get the pieces you really want. Some really cool pieces, loved seeing the Ordinary People Change The World sketches, we read those with our daughter, too. Can't wait to see the interview, make sure you share it here when that goes live!
Thanks Bunk! It was such a fantastic show filled with some awesome conversations with fellow collectors, readers & of course the creators too! I will definitely post the interview here in whatever form it is presented. I may even take the raw footage and cut my own version of it too just to have it here for posterity! It’s a quick interview & I’m no professional but man oh man was it wonderfully surreal!
Haha, that does make me sound a bit ungrateful doesn’t it? It was a great show and haul for me, I just didn’t end up buying much additional at the show that wasn’t either paid for years ago or set up before the show. Honestly, this was kind of the perfect sized haul for me. Got some fun surprises & didn’t have any unplanned budget derailing pick ups, and had some wonderful conversations with creators. A nice balanced experience!
Talk about a seriously delayed response! Was going through a few videos, didn’t want to leave any comments unanswered! Doh! Thanks again for the opportunity & idea Tom!! Can’t wait to see what kind of footage you get at OAX in a few weeks!
Wow Carl, that Frankenstein monster is amazing! Congrats on the haul! Sounds like a great show -- hope to attend one day. Nice that you connected with Omnidog too. I feel like there's a small, but perhaps growing Venn Diagram cross section of OA people and people who also care about the actual comics.
I can’t recommend Baltimore enough, great show that has a laid back type vibe while also delivering a killer comics focused guest list year after year! I’ve truly been having fun, through Omnidog & Bunk, discovering some new comics to add to the list as I get back into being a current comics reader again. Lots to dive into that isn’t necessarily the big two mainstays!

So awesome how the Lonergan Frankenstein is both in and out of the panels.
I love that too, stepping out of the panels, broken up by then panel borders, it’s just so visually interesting wherever you look!
Wow awesome stuff! Congrats!
Thanks man, really had a great time at this show!

Some fantastic pick-ups Carl...glad it was a success...even if you consider the haul "Light".

Thanks for participating in my video interview adventure in Baltimore. Your 13-year-old self would be proud of your interview skills.

Looks like a grand time. Could only be better if it were OAX. Ha!
…that’s the next show I’ll be at! Can’t wait!! More art & more camaraderie!
